Shangri-La Plaza is a musical-comedy pilot made for CBS in 1990.
The all-sung pilot was directed by Nick Castle and written and created by Mark Mueller and Nick Castle. It starred The Office’s Melora Hardin, Chris Sarandon and Broadway’s original Beast and Javert (of Beauty and the Beast and Les Misérables) Terrence Mann, a two-time Tony Award Nominee for Best Actor.[4] It also featured the very young tap dancing phenomenon Savion Glover in one of his first television appearances.
The pilot was filmed on location in an actual mini-mall at the corner of Vineland Avenue and Burbank Boulevard in North Hollywood, California.

It's really cool to see Melora Hardin in this, as it was right around the same time as the 'Lambada' movie she starred in with Eddie Peck. She's got a great voice and really makes that theme song special. What a treat to see Savion Glover so young-and rapping! The concept is cool, and I think could've developed into quite an interesting series. Much appreciation!

I live right down the street from this place. The donut shop is a Fatburger now. Circus Liquor (as seen in "Clueless") is directly across the street.

@@Rivas1296 The donut shop _in the show_ is on the corner of Vineland and Burbank, right where Fatburger is today. But yes, there is currently a donut shop next to/behind the Fatburger in real life.

i wonder if the Halloween 5 poster at the video store window is suppose to be an act of revenge at the people who ruin the characteristics of the Myers character that Nick once played.
