It's crazy because even Carr said to Mack "I see why they chose you ahead of me". Carr knew the beast that Mack was and still is. He was the best defensive player on a struggling defense in general. The most important piece and they gave him up. I'm so mad as a Raider fan because he was the Carr of the defense, he was that anchor. He earned his contract.

They only won 6 games last year with Mack. Giving him the money he wanted they would not be able to keep Cooper which means they would have a small amount of cap space to try and find a new number 1 WR on top of needing 5 or so more defenders. They would not have these extra draft picks or money to sign FAs. With Mack their D was complete garbage and paying Mack would guarantee that it stayed that way.

This didn’t age well...Josh Jacobs (one of Two 1st rounders) should have won rookie of the year & is on his way to being best running back in football! And then the Corner from Ohio State Damon Arnett who was a lockdown man cb and then Bryan Edwards the wide receiver from SC Gamecocks who is their all team leading receiver. Bears got Mack (who is the best DE in football) and Cole Kmart the Tight end from ND (that makes 7 tight ends on the bears roster right now-the most in football). Both sides did well but Raiders won for sure. I’d bet my next paycheck that not only does Mack miss the raiders and want to come back, but he will eventually be back. He wants to be a raider for life

Not really. The Bears did a good job getting Mack considering there were talks of the Packers wanting to make a move for him. Not only did they solidify that D line, they took a major player from a division rival. Great move.

Who is the last D lineman to receive a huge contract and stay dominant? The Rams signed Donald because they have Goff on a rookie contract. The Bears also have a quarterback on a rookie contract. Does anyone expect The Raiders to pay Mack more than Carr? How have the Broncos been doing with von Miller and no quarterback? The Bears gave Mack a bigger contract than Carr's. Mack's contract is $140 million and Aaron Rodgers is $138 million.

He's an egomaniac. He's a little guy who couldn't make it in football. He was a backup in a division 3 School. And his ego once he got to the NFL was huge. Because he stripped the team down and rebuilt it. It takes time and looking good. The bears are the ones in the clock. They traded for Mack to win a Super Bowl and don’t seem anywhere close. Gruden saved 25 mill in the cap and grabbed Josh Jacobs and Damon Arnett. Pretty solid

At first I thought, “Did I spell his name right?” lol But for you youngsters, Al Davis was the former long time owner of the Raiders who in his later years made very questionable draft picks and overall was very ineffective at running the team. He died about 6-7 years ago.

Even with Mack, they weren't gonna win 10 games. Raiders are in bad shape and taking on a massive contract for a defensive player in this era is just not worth it. I think the Bears did a great job picking him up because they need to find a way to put pressure on Stafford and Rodgers. Sometimes it's the money you don't spend that puts you in a good position for the future. I know they gave Gruden the big contract but coaches aren't part of the salary cap.

Maybe. Maybe not. Sometimes a guy is just not worth the cap in that point in time. You can spend massive money on a defensive lineman, but if the rest of your team is only iffy, it's a waste. Look at Houston with JJ Watt. What did they win? I don't think they've even won a playoff game. Look at the Rams with Aaron Donald and the stacked talent they have. They were taken down in the first round last year. The only time it's worth overspending on a top tier defensive player is when your defense is already great. You want to keep it great. It'd be different if Mack was on the Eagles, Jags, or Vikings.

Bears fr scammed the Raiders. They gave up 2 firsts a 3rd and 6th for Mack along with a 2nd and a 5th. They upgraded from a 6th to a 5th. A 3rd to a second. They used the rams philosophy and essential say one of the first rounders is "drafting" mack. The bears essentially gave the raiders a 1st rounder for the opportunity to get khalil mack. Unless the Bears somehow get worse and get a worse record than last year, they won the trade 110%.

What happened this weekend is what happens when your teams ownership gets way too desperate. Competent ownership would have never signed a coach who hasn't coached a single game since 2008 to a 10 year contract worth a 100 million that ties your team to him until 2028 and give him complete autonomy over the team to the point he says we don't need to pay our hall of fame caliber defensive end anything just trade him for draft picks and I'll build us a new defense and focus everything around our quarterback because who needs a top notch defense its all about having a suped up offense like Pittsburgh (how's that working out for Pittsburgh) ignore the fact a good defense won this years super bowl I know what's best and that's making Carr Rich Gannon 2.0 and having him make all the plays that save us. Smh I see the son is a chip off the old block with these moves as a owner.

Bill Belcheck the best coach in the league isn't getting that type of money so it's crazy to see Gruden get it after spending a decade away from the game and only having one super bowl ring to show for it all the one he got from going to a already assembled championship team in Tampa and beating his old team. I don't think he will last past year 4 of his contract he's already playing the blame game and has made it clear that as long as he's coach potential free agents on defense and defensive players up for new contract on the Raiders will get low balled when negotiating contracts moving forward the offense will receive all the attention and money.

Hes a perfect fit for the Bears too. They have a well put together team, they really didn't need to 1st round picks. They have there QB, WR,LB,FS and RB. They still have the rest of the draft picks available. He the right team guy as well. It just made them so much better offensively and Defensively. Not a fan of Gruden much either.

I agree that it a hefty price to pay, but they dont have a lot of others needs that they need to take care of anytime soon. With Mack he gives you room to drop guys and pick guys up as you see fit with not much pressure; Example Brady. In theory, he plays three spots. He contains the rush like the best DE in the league. He rushes like a top tier 3-4 OLB and he's so dominant over the OL like a very good MLB would. He is plutonium to this team. Its either extremely good or extremely bad. Either way, it will change the course of the bears for years to come. No obvious reason why it wouldn't be for the best.

What they don’t talk about is Raiders offered him 120+ and Mack didn’t accept that. Raiders don’t have a QB on a rookie contract and wouldn’t be able to afford any tier 1 FAs after Mack’s contract. Mack picked an extra 3 million instead of his teammates. Chicago wins maybe 5 games this season so have fun with that Mack.

Comparing Gruden $$$ to Khalil $$$ is dumb, Gruden has no affect on cap space. Khalil is a great player WHEN HE WANTS TO BE, he also slacks off a lot. You can't afford Carr, Khalil and Cooper there's no room for everyone else, the defense has been garbage with Khalil so why pay him if the defense isn't any good? Gruden got 2 1st rounds 3rd and 6th round, he'll make them pay off.

As a raiders fan, i want my team to do really bad so the franchise understand their mistake, not only with Kahlil Mack but with also with Marquette King. You are giving more money to a coach that hasn't done any coaching job in the NFL for 10 years than to other players, and you weren't willing to give more money to potentially the best defensive player in the league. (The only good constant we had in defense). I know as a fan, i shouldn't want that, but it pisses me off so much. Now watch players complain about Gruden. (I am already missing Jack del Rio).

They got a lot of draft picks and their defensive front is still okay. This is a long-term move from Gruden, and I would assume he will get some players for their secondary/linebacking corps with those picks. He is trying to make the team his own so I like the move for the long term, even though its not great for right now.
