Shannon Brenda Greene (born May 2, 1958), better known by the mononym Shannon, is an American recording artist and singer of Freestyle music and dance-pop music and songwriter. She is best known for her million-selling record single "Let the Music Play". Often she is considered the "International Queen of Freestyle."

Chris Barbosa, who produced the first two albums, had such a great neck for making very melancholy dance songs. The intro of this song is just epic. If you like this sound, you should listen to Monet (her album was called "Leave the Lights On" and was produced by the same team. It sounds like the album that Shannon never made.

On this day in 1985 {June 29th} Shannon performed "Do You Wanna Get Away" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV network Saturday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'... At the time the song was at #94 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; five weeks earlier it had peaked at #49 {for 1 week}, and it spent 15 weeks on the Top 100... And on May 19th, 1985 it reached #1 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart... On the same 'Bandstand' show she also performed "Urgent", it peaked at #68 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart... Shannon, born Shannon Brenda Greene, celebrated her 59th birthday one month ago on May 2nd, 2017...
