RIP Shannon Hoon
Lyrics:
Underlying
Oh, so more important here
Any kind
Whatever shakes ya thrill
Mark my face
The air is really heavy now
I pledge allegiance
So, God
Why don't you come on over here?
D-I-E-D!
That's what has happened to you!
G-R-E-E-D!
Well, there's nothing more to take
Pour the red wine
Watch the news, maybe ventilate
I pledge allegiance!
So, laddy
Won't you come on over here?
Wooh!
Letters from the porcupine
They'll stick right through to you
So read one anytime
You think you've made mistakes?
Now we'll wait for later
Maybe the next in line'll be
Someone whose daddy's blood
Ran out next to Bush and it be him!
I believe this was recorded at Kingsway Studios in 1994. This track was part of a compilation of Shannon’s acoustic demo’s that were given to his mother, Nel Hoon, some time shortly after his passing. She eventually shared the acoustic album in it’s entirety with The Blind Melon Forum back in 2008. So we can all thank Shannon’s mother, Nel, (and The Blind Melon Forum) for gifting us with these hauntingly beautiful and rare recordings!
