Leg 2 was short and sweet. Not the best anchorage but functional.
Struggled with sound issues today, no remote mic underway (it was off!) which hurt the sound quality. Some was unusable.
Flew the drone a couple times, but had a focus problem on the first flight which made that video unusable. I have no clue why? It has never happened before. Second flight was fine. Shut down and start up must have reset the camera electronics.
For the ship's log, see this link: shantysanctuar...

I have lived on the Lake for 51 years-I picnic in Coulter’s Harbour several times a year-I have no idea how you got into that second nights anchorage!

I used the fisherman's notes and went in very slowly. Coulter's Harbor was being used at the time by the fishermen I visited briefly with the next morning. You are favored to live on such a beautiful lake! Thanks for your comment.

Where did you find these fisherman’s notes! I’ve been trying to find help for spots around there for years. Great video!

Thanks for your comment. You may not have caught my reference to a fisherman I met in the marina parking lot who shared his personal notes with me. I simply took a photo of his notes written on a quad map for the area I was heading. I suspect he got his notes from a fishing guide. I was interested in the notes for safe navigation rather than fishing.

Similarities to Temagami ( Canadian Shield ? ) but I haven't seen the giant pine trees yet but it's still early . Thank you !

No pines in this country, it's too far north. Primarily spruce/fir forest. Water temperature is also much colder 54F average. One advantage of being that far north is that it's on the edge of woodland caribou range. I did see one and there will be some photos later on.

Looks like you might benefit from two things one a remote controlled windless and two at least a partial isinglass screen on your starboard helm sidel

I addressed the windless in a previous query. Although it would be handy, it is really not practical. The boat is too small for an electric windlass there is really no place to mount it without taking up too much bow space. My gang plank, anchor rode, fire ring, and 11# propane tank are all stowed on the bow deck. And, as you saw in today's video I occasionally set up a chair on this deck. More importantly, there is no below deck locker for the rode to feed into using a remote control. One reason I use a 6 gallon pail to stow the rode. I had windlasses on my two largest sailboats but neither system would work on this boat. Besides, anchoring depths are usually less than 10 feet so you are not pulling very hard to retrieve the anchor. I need the exercise anyway! I also previously addressed the need for a shield of sorts on the starboard side (see Shanty Sanctuary 2022, Lake Temagami, Ep 3) but I do not want to install anything temporary. Though I sometimes rig up a small tarp while at anchor to block the sun. In side wind and rain, I simply cover my tablet with Press'NSeal. In the long term my intention is to add an extension of the aft Bimini that would provide an enclosure to both sides just aft of the helm. That would be an expensive addition (hired) and has relatively low priority on my list of projects. However, I have built a canvas dodger and spinnaker previously and may check with Sailrite Kits to see if they have a kit I could sew and install myself.

Do you ever actually do anything? Do you ever do more than put in time on the boat existing? You talk about what you do not do. How about anything that you actually do?

Sorry to disappoint. Just being on the water in the wilds is enough for me, I don't have to be "doing" anything in particular. Sometimes weather or conditions may not allow "doing" things I may want to do. Other trips I've been able to hike, kayak, and fly the drone more. Whatever the situation, I find peace and enjoyment in just being there. Being on Nipigon for three weeks unsupported is no small task in itself. Thanks for watching the video and making comment.
