Shao Kahn Explored - The terrifying tyrant and emperor of the Outworld! #mortalkombat #mortalkombatmovie2021 #gaming #mortalkombat11 #mortalkombatx #mortalkombatlegends #mortalkombatxl
Long live the Emperor Shao Kahn!!! He’s my favourite character and Noob Saibot was my favourite character until MK Trilogy when I could first play as Shao Kahn and Noob Saibot is still 2nd favourite character till this day (though in MK11 he has the best fatality ever when he slashes his opponent’s guts open with his sickle and his shadow (Saibot) goes inside and rips them in half from the mouth downwards)
I am with u, so many times I got my ass kicked then he laughed at me. He is still the greatest character I've ever witnessed. (Boss villain wise) Fighting him was pure torment.
Shao Khan is basically the Megatron of mortal Kombat. With Shang as his Starscream. Yes Onaga, Shinnok, and Kronika may have more power and Khan dose loose but you can never truly count him out.
@@Ehrle6969 I mean he poisoned Onaga the first time. As for how things went during Armageddon who knows it's never been revealed but he must have beaten Onaga somehow and he had to have beaten Blaze to get the power. Shao Khan is a beast.
They did him dirty in 9 too. Shao Kahn wasn't an idiot in the old timeline. In the new timeline he actually thought the elder gods would sit back and let the merge happen.
@@sethgeeko867 okay? Biden sure gives off "I can do what I want and get away with it" vibes, not the guy who said he could shoot someone on 5th ave, or the guy being investigated by the FBI, has multiple lawsuits against him ranging from sexual assault to fraud. Yeah Biden.
LOl Shao Kahn is simply a savage and a true tyrent. I seen so many games try to have bad guys but a lot of them come off hammy or just to lame..Shoa is simply above all of them because he truly is brutal and ruthless to the extream.
Shao Kahn was always my favorite. They did him dirty in MK11. Shao Kahn is responsible for: 1. The rules of Mortal Kombat exist because of him. 2. He is the direct reason Shang Tsung, Mileena, Kitana, Sindel, Ermac, Skarlet, and the kollector are the way they are. 3. His victory over blaze in the final battle was the reason the whole timeline got reset. 3. He conqured Edenia, Brought the outworlders, tarkatans, shokan, and centaurs together under his banner. 4. Both the heroes and villians have to remove Kahn to be victorious. 5. He's not only one of the physically strongest characters in the lore but his knowledge and use of magic is unparralled. (He taught Shang Tsung soul magic, and he created Skarlet and taught her Blood magic) 6. He Bested Raiden, a literal god, in every timeline they fought. 7. Bested Kotal Kahn in both confrontations, breaking his back during the second encounter. 8. Is apparently the only character outside of Raiden, Shinnok, and Cetrion(Gods), who knew who kronika was. 9. Aside from his physical stature and magical mastery, Kahn seems to be well versed in the art of war and the science of cloning. Having physically invaded many realms. He also created a near perfect clone that was used as a body double and subsequently was killed by Shang Tsung and Quan Chi during Deadly Alliance. In MK 11, they neutered him hard. He loses his throne, gets ursurped by Kotal, gets killed by Kitana, and gets treated like a Thug by Kronika. However in the DLC he did come back and proceed to steamroll over everyone until his betrayal at the hands of Shang Tsung near the end. Every character in the games aside from maybe Kronika and Quan Chi, are reacting to the moves made by Kahn. He is, the single most Important character in the series. He is the catalyst that drives the conflict forward.
Actually Raiden bested Shao Kahn in the second timeline...beat him once healed then the EG destroyed him. Raiden also thwarted Kahn for centuries as to why the MK tournament was made to give Earth a chance to defend itself. Liu Kang also bested Shao Kahn in the second tournament, the same LK that Raiden accidentally killed so just shows Raiden jobbers if anything....Shao Kahn is powerful but he's not like Raiden, Shinnok, EG etc level of power.
@@MKF30aiden defeated him, because he was strengthened by the Elder gods. Without their reinforcement, he would have lost. This is one time. Secondly, Shao Kahn defeated Dark Raiden, Blaze and Onaga (officially declared by John Vogel). And also fought on a par with EG, which already puts him above the same Shinnok, Onaga and many others. Besides, Ed Boone himself called him the strongest. Shao Kang surpasses all mk characters except the God Liu and Shang with a crown
@@ark4in212 Raiden at full power not messing around would murder Shao Kahn in general but he jobbers to him on purpose, Raiden has beaten Shinnok who is far more powerful than Shao Kahn is. Raiden's also beaten Shao Kahn before MK vs DC he blasted him and yes that game is canon if you're wondering the writers confirmed it. Raiden's power defeated Kronika within Liu Kang, already more powerful feat than Shao Kahn. Raiden vs Shinnok centuries before Kahn was even a threat shook the world snd nearly wiped out all life on earth with his power. Watch his MK 4 monolog. Unbound Raiden not limited by rules is no joke...the dude shook the freaking planet and was responsible for the death of entire civilizations... They just write Raiden poorly against Shao Kahn in the newer timeline. Raiden purposely let Kahn beat him to save Earthrealm and figured the Elder Gods would intervene which they did they just took their time about it. Raiden still beat him once he was healed, the EG's finished him however. Shao Kahn never beat the Elder Gods, they killed him as we seen here. Shao Kahn won Armageddon in the canon but before he could kill Raiden, Raiden changed the timeline which means he technically beat Shao Kahn by changing the timeline before he could kill him to prevent changing time in the past where Shao Kahn "must win" but is the key to his defeat. So he's dead, we only see him again MK 11 thanks to Kronika pulling him and others from time before they die but in the end he died anyway to Shang Tsung crown powered, where Shang only defeated Raiden he didn't kill Raiden for good but he soul sucked Shao Kahn with that same attack... Ed Boon never called Shao Kahn the strongest, feats wise Shinnok has better feats than Shao Kahn. Shao Kahn had to poison Onaga for power and can't beat Raiden in a fair one on one battle on Earth. Raiden with the Amulet and Kamidogu would murderstomp Kahn, the only reason Kahn gave Raiden trouble in MKA was he had Blaze's power allowed him to do anything and in MK 9 ending he absorbed millions of souls. In a fair fight no power amps, Raiden is more powerful than Shao Kahn, even Kronika admitted this as he screws with timelines on cosmic level...
@@MKF30 Dude, I advise you to study ENT and strength level in more detail 1) Liu Kang defeated Shao Kang only because he was chosen for this. In MK, the consequences perfectly showed what would happen in their battle without the monk's story armor 2) Shao Kahn did not poison Onaga, but defeated him. This becomes clear from the ending of the Emperor in MK 5, where it is said that Shao Kahn HAS AGAIN ENGAGED IN BATTLE WITH THE DRAGON KING. That is, they have already fought before. And yes, if he was afraid of Onaga, then he wouldn't have said so stubbornly that he would take the power of Blaze and rule over everything. I advise you to study ENT in detail 3) He can't beat Raiden in a fair fight? Is that why Kang defeated the Dark Raiden, who fights without any restrictions? And yes, he was defeated even before defeating Blaze. In addition, there are achievements that put him above Raiden, but more about them later 4) Ed Boone called Shao Kahn strong in an interview of 19 years, a couple of days before the release of MK 11. I can even throw off a link to him, although it's not a problem to find him 5) Shinnok is superior to Shao Kahn, and his achievements are better? Shinnok is currently weaker than Sindel, who is pathetic trash against the background of Shao Kahn, I keep in the know. This time Secondly, Shao Kahn demolished Blaze, who is officially above all creatures at the time of MK 6, among whom was Shinnok, and the owners of kamidogu, and the rest. Thirdly, Shao Kahn was again called the strongest character, and by no one there, but by Ed himself. Fourth, He defeated the Dark Raiden, who surpasses the god of death. Fifth, even at the end, Kuan Chi made it clear that the emperor was superior to Shinnok. And yes, I am considering this moment from the ending, because it does not contradict many factors, but only complements everything. Sixth, if you haven't noticed, Shinnok was afraid of Shao Kahn, so he doesn't fully climb out of hell until he's dead or dumped somewhere 6) Firstly, Raiden could not destroy Shao Kahn from Armageddon, at least because the emperor is outside the laws of time, even in the basic version. I will explain in advance why he is outside the law of time: 1) In the MK consequences, when he, Sindel and Shang entered the Chronicle hall, Kang was not removed back, as it was with Kung Lao and Kitana. 2) His conception of God in MK. 3) Having absorbed Blaze's powers, he has already become a god, which once again puts him above the laws of time. In addition, John Vogel himself called him omnipotent on Twitter. Secondly, even if Shao Kahn had been killed with this move by Raiden, then why would it count in Raiden's victory over him, if it's not even a fight, but a scam? 6) I did not write that he defeated the Elder Gods. It was about the moment in MK 9, where he had no problems holding the power of all the gods together with Raiden, while fighting with them on an equal footing. But the power was all there, at least because Shao Kahn began to unite the worlds, which is completely forbidden and which brings the return of OB closer, and EG will not delay and restrain themselves in principle in the worlds, since they can only influence the return of One being by their presence. But since we are also talking about victory, then once again I want to remember MK Armageddon, where he killed them 7) Lol, so what if he took Shao Kahn's soul and left Raiden? Shan also took Kronika's soul, killing her at the same time, but this does not mean that Raiden is stronger than her. He wanted to make a slave out of Raiden 8) Kronika never said that Reiden is superior to Shao Kahn, I keep in the know, or throw a link to this moment 9) Only Blaze's power allowed Shao Kahn to do anything? I wonder how he then defeated the Dark Raiden, Onaga and this very Blaze, who demolishes almost all the MK characters? How then could he restrain the power of EG without any problems? How could he unite entire universes (worlds) with magic? As in the same MK vs DS, which is officially canonical, Shao Kahn, in addition to being able to restore his strength in the phantom zone (which no one was able to do), also broke through its barrier, which few people can? So in what place will your Raiden defeat Shao Kahn, if he officially lost to him, the Emperor was officially called the almighty and the strongest, defeated much stronger creatures? Raiden does not have any achievements and statements from the creators that make him stronger than Shao Kahn, which cannot be said about the reverse situation, where there are both moments and statements of the creators. Shao Kang surpasses all the characters in MK at the moment, except for the God Liu (possibly) and Shang with a crown. All the others, because of Ed's statement alone, he demolishes with his hand. Who really was not allowed to show all his might, so it's Shao And yes, I can give instructions for all this
*@Ar K4in* First off I already know everything about MK I've worked on the wikis with all due respect, was apart of MKO lore threads and am intimately familiar with every character, timeline and trivia I'd wager you aren't aware of from original concepts to characters never used that were meant to be. Dark Liu Kang never defeated Raiden, Raiden even confirms in MK 11 with his visions in every timeline Liu Kang dies to him. In fact Raiden was the one Dark Raiden in the first timeline to bring LK back via a spell to serve as a mindless zombie to kill for him.... I recommend you read all of the wiki's well and play all of the games, not just Armageddon onward.... 1. No Liu Kang defeated Shao Kahn due to being a better fighter in H2H and nearly killed him in the second timeline and beat him twice swiftly in the first. 2. Incorrect. Shao Kahn didn't defeat Onaga at all, he poisoned him centuries ago which was revealed in his Deception bio via the Wii version of the game which had exclusive rights to Shao Kahn and Goro not in the other console versions this was revealed. Read Onaga's wiki literally confirms it in the first timeline Shao Kahn had Onaga poisoned since he couldn't defeat him directly. 3. LK never defeated Dark Raiden you're mistaken. No he was not defeated before Blaze, watch MK 9's intro clearly Raiden and Shao Kahn are the last ones Shao Kahn had blaze's power the only reason he was beating Raiden due to a power up. 4. Strongest over a decade ago before Kronika, Elder God's power being defined and the lore expanded further defining various power levels. Also Ed isn't the writer he's creative director, if you ask him who's the strongest and best he'll say Scorpion above everyone else actually but doesn't make Scorp the most OP now. If Shao Kahn was the strongest he'd never lose to anyone clearly not the case. 5. Raiden has beaten Shao Kahn without any bs power gimmicks or Blaze's power who makes anyone nearly omnipotent, also I asked John years ago on twitter regarding the top of the food chain he said the EG's are(at the time) technically they still are by feats as they have better feats than any of the Titans taking out the One Being and keeping it at bay via the kamidogu. Sindel, Kintana etc have nothing to do with Raiden and Shao Kahn. Sindel in the old timeline was the key to thwarting Kahn's plot but they retconned her story and character in the new timeline rendering that moot in the second timeline which a lot of fans hated but that's a different story. Raiden changed the timeline in fact he's done so multiple times....as Kronika confirmed. Shao Kahn never did this because he's not powerful enough. He's also not the smartest as Shinnok baited him and used him as he knew his own arrogance would undo him a la end of mk9 events... 6. Shao Kahn was more powerful in the old timeline than new, when he took Earth's souls he didn't need Quan-Chi's help he just did it from Outworld directly, the invasion helped him but as far as his power that was him alone. In MK 9 timeline he needed Quan chi's help and Sindel's amped with Shang's power, he needed Quan Chi to create soulnados for Kahn to absorb souls before breaching Earthrealm. He tanked a minor attack from the EG's once they got more serious they destroyed Shao Kahn though...Kahn never killed the One Being don't know where you're getting your info from but never happened lol. 7. So he says he didn't want to make Raiden a slave he wanted to keep using his power, but Raiden gave amped crown Shang a much harder time than Shao Kahn did, he was owned by one blast to the back. Plus Raiden unlike Shao Kahn, his power is compromised in other realms. Unbound Raiden nearly destroyed Earthrealm while defending it....again watch MK 4 intro and read the bio sheet from Mythologies book (if you're old enough to have played that game) it confirms the same canon....Yeah it does, Shao Kahn got beat by Shang pretty swiftly, Raiden didn't die he was just drained in that aftermath timeline. Still, Liu Kang with Raiden's power mind you overpowered both Kronika and Shang amped, the same Shang amped who beat Shao Kahn so.... 8. Yes she did actually, what link? She literally recruits others including Shao Kahn to help her thwart off and make Raiden not exist which she failed to do over and over....thus proving he's more of a threat than Shao Kahn ever was or she wouldn't have saved him from death. 9. Shao Kahn never defeated Onaga, Dark Raiden etc, etc until he beat Blaze....prior to that he never did they were all working together even Dark Raiden until a point. Raiden blasted Shao Kahn on his own with little effort pushing him back to OW but then that blast caused the rift between universes with DC's while Superman shot Darkseid in his portal to create Dark Kahn, that's different though from Shao Kahn alone as he merged with Darkseid...I'm talking just Shao Kahn alone. If you're going to try to use that I can just say ok Raiden was an Elder God in the first timeline would mega stomp Shao Kahn without trying surely you've seen what one Elder God as a pantheon can do Cetrion? Yeah....Raiden chose to relinquish his status to help directly since EG's are supposed to be neutral at least in the first timeline. I'm a big DC fan besides MK others have broken out of the Phantom Zone before, Shao Kahn isn't the only one to do it also the ending had Raiden teleport Darkseid to the EG's who trapped him in Hell/Netherrealm. Considering Darkseid's power was nullified by Raiden's as you see him trying to use his power but you see Raiden's electricity stopping him from attacking I'd say that's pretty damn impressive considering what Darkseid has done like breaching universes, destroying them, destroy multiple Superman's, Earth's and other crazy stuff... Not at all, unbound Raiden surpasses Shao Kahn easily without any PIS elements or power amp gimmicks, if you want to use Blaze feats ok then Raiden at his best would be unbound or EG level or stabbing himself with every Kamidogu where he'd demolish Kahn. If Shao Kahn is more powerful than Raiden then explain how he lost to Liu Kang in H2H and nearly got killed had it not been for Quan Chi's help with the punch through the heart? Yet LK attacked Raiden and Raiden killed him accidentally with a small electrical shield? lol So technically by feats Raiden has the better between him and Shao Kahn. Shao Kahn never took over other universes he conquered other worlds with help from his army except Earthrrealm. Raiden>>LK>>>>>Shao Kahn. Kahn had to cheat poisoning Onaga for control of OW, had armies invade realms he didn't do it under his own power and rules through fear being a dictator...Raiden however has protected Earthrealm for eons, helped out the EG's from Shinnok, beat Shinnok, banished Shinnok, changed timelines enough to warrent Kronika a high tier level cosmic being that changes time casually. Shao Kahn has what? Stolen fodder souls, needed help to conquer realms and admits himself Raiden is always a problem. Raiden is a problem for everyone Kahn, Shinnok, Kronika etc. Shao Kahn was only an issue for all when he killed Blaze taking his power....Raiden is a problem without power amps lol....
I absolutely love Shao Kahn he’s my favourite character in Mortal Kombat and I love his Mortal Kombat 11 design with the claw like fingernails and the spines on his left forearm with some excellent helmet designs in the game. Noob Saibot was my favourite playable character for along time until you could play as Shao Kahn (though Noob Saibot is still my 2nd favourite character who again in MK11 has some excellent designs of outfits, helmets and most of all his sickles, not to mention the best fatality in the whole game as his shadow goes inside his opponent’s gut and split them in half and rips them in half from the mouth 👄). I was just disappointed that in MK11 that he was underpowered as you have Shao Kahn who in previous games has been an absolute badass and was the one who killed Onaga the Dragon King, won the battle of Armageddon beating everyone to climb to the top of the pyramid of Argos to beat Blaze and then finally kill a god in Raiden! I just wish he was shown a bit more respect because he’s one of not only fighting games best & iconic characters like Ryu & Ken but one of gaming’s best & iconic characters like Mario and Sonic. And ever since Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the original PlayStation and N46 (PlayStation version had a few more characters than the N64 version) I’ve played him as my main character even though Shao Kahn like Goro, Kintaro and Montaro he didn’t have any fatalities (I had a N64 but didn’t own Trilogy I went from Ultimate MK3 to MK4. But when I had a PS2 I saw MK Trilogy for sail for £3.99 in my local video rental store which was going out of business so I knew it was their rental copy they were selling but for £3.99 it was a steal as it worked perfectly and the instruction booklet was like new. Instruction booklets with games these days don’t exist 😂). While I really like Kotel Kahn there will always be one true Emperor, Shao Kahn. Long live the Emperor ❤
@@sibamosichombo6468he might as well been a god in that game 😭😂 facing him with Lao was easier bc of the teleportation With Kang I kept using the leap ability to avoid his heavy combos
I remember the 1st time I saw Goro, I was like "oh f*ck!" then I saw Kintaro & was like "what the f*ck?!", then here goes Shao Kahn showing up & I was like "oh come the f*ck on, this isn't fair!" 🤣
Regardless of the backlash which i was initially a part of, i have grown to love Sindel's retcon when i've seen MK11 aftermath. I find her character to be more effective as a villain, heck Shao Kahn redeemed his big boss status because of her and who knew he can be such a sweet husband, i absolutely loved the Gomez and Morticia Addams vibe they got going on.
Doesn’t change the fact that Dominic Cianciolo kept mucking up Shao Kahn’s character since MK9 and now 11, along with the fact that Sindel is also doesn’t lineup at all for the MK9 depiction. Is it too much to ask of NRS to be consistent with characters we grew up with? If you like it, cool. But with the timeline reset, it does not matter.
I agree. It's unpopular but I liked the retcon and it made sindel a bit more interesting and made the MK11 storyline even better, especially when Shang Tsung got involved
While most did not like the redesign if his character in MK 11, it was one of the few changes I actually liked in MK11, including his playstyle. Making him look almost half-dragon made him feel a lot more substantial and brutal. Kronika was also a very lazy boss, sadly. Hopefully NR will do better next time. D'Vora and Mileena looked infinitely better in MK X. Change my mind.
Shit the redesign of his character was one of the best ever superb. He looks straight gangsta like a tyrant should be he look menacing, like a king should be of out world
Honestly. Shao Khan is such a superb villain I really don't want anything else. I just want him to be the villain more and more often because he is just the video game boss.
Original Syndel’s story is WAY better than her “always” wanting Shao Khan & Annihilation was amazing at 7yo in theatre when Mortal was my first video game ever
Lol the old mortal kombat towers just prepared you for an ass kicking like never before seen I’d always give my controller to my brother if I made it to Motaro
Watching this has certainly made me want to play my favourite fighting game Ultimate Mortal Kombat 11 again! It’s probably been 10-11 months since I last played UMK11 on my PS4, I’ve transferred the game to my PS5 to upgrade it to it’s full 4K HDR glory months ago and should’ve played it then even if it was just to see it with upgraded graphics and frame rate. So thanks for taking the time and effort for putting this video together
Yes one of the most iconic villains in mortal kombat history this video is long overdue. Next you should do a video on Shang Tsung another one of the most iconic villains in mortal kombat history.
To me Shao Kahn is the boss of bosses. I remember the first time playing Mk2 and fighting him for the first time, not only is he overpowering but he talks trash on top of it.
@@keseanlee8219 Exactly! Draconian species are just cool overall & make lore sense. Liu Kang is a good “chosen one”. Shao Khan is the evil “chosen one” respectively
You forgot to add...: Shao Khan is the reason there is a difficulty setting in most games now. Remember very arrogantly saying to yourself, or in front of your friend(s)that your just trying to look gamer-skilled to, that you can handle veteran or hard difficulty and then you got to Shao Khan and proceeded to get your ass beat down for the next 3 hours as you and your friends all took turns on the controller, thinking that you will be the one to beat him as you studied Shao Khan movements and your friend's mistakes? Yeah...
I believe Kahn was/is a god. He held a similar position to Raiden, which is a protector of his respective realm. It's even stated in Deception that Kahn and Raiden are the same species. Shao Kahn's voice was only used as the announcer in MK 2, 3, AND trilogy, btw.
It must have been circa 1996 whenever I was first introduced to MK Trilogy. I remember watching my cousins play. All that gore, fatalities, the violence, and my cousins cheering me on whenever I beat one of them, 6 year old me was captivated. I remember once I went to the grocery store and I was waiting for my mom to finish with her purchase. There was an old stand up arcade machine which actually had MK Trilogy loaded up on it. I'm like hell yeah, let me get some quarters and play. Little did I know, that was my introduction to being handed Ls. Time and time again, I would get whooped and Shao Kahn's voice would boom throw the machine "HAHAH YOU SUCK". MAAANNN I went home and cried. Cried like a baby. 6 year old me couldn't comprehend why this machine was so mean to me. Years later, I bought MK 2011 and I finally got my revenge. A whole 15 years later. It's funny because as an immature human, I let my emotions get the best of me. As I matured and got older, I can't help but appreciate his introduction to the series. I might just buy this game now. Even if I'm 4 years late. The trash talking is supreme. Shao Kahn was my first introductory villain and damn has he stood the test of time.
That hammer is deadly you can barely touch this guy he was on par with darkseid I love ❤️ his romance with sindal can’t deny that I love mileena that’s my girl right there lol shocking to see him on mortal kombat 11 especially when he wasn’t the main antagonist but you couldn’t miss him his authority was still shown Shang tsung basically is nothing without shao Kahn
Got to say you’re more accurate on shao Kahn’s story telling than your recent raiden’s story video, the MK11 aftermath sindel’a story is a total retcon for the developers which fans still hated until this day.shao Kahn is also known as a warlord there rumors that shao’s origins are outworld’s protector/god b4 seizing for himself after betraying onaga,on Armageddon Shang tsung bio is stated that he didn’t die on raiden’s sacrifice instead he appear in front of shao Kahn himself bcause he(Kahn)made a bonding sorcery which tied him for life, also forgot to mention that onaga was way stronger than shao, the only way to take him out was to poison him and in my opinion he’s cooler but lacks of shao’s carisma…
Shao Kahn is the greatest ruler in fiction. He unified dozens of races under his banner and led them for thousands of years. He created a meritocracy where only those who worked hard could rise to the top. He led by example, being the 1st to step into the battlefield. Shokan, Tarkata, Centaur, all these races hated each other yet Shao Kahn unified them. Shao is a man worthy of respect On the other hand, we are led by weak politicians who send people to war from the safety of their desk while getting even richer. Pathetic pencil pushers that would never risk their lives and are only there due to connections and money, not effort. We need a leader like Shao Kahn, where warriors get the respect they deserve
I do not understand this. Shao Khan, took a kingdom and the queen of that kingdom and did not legitimize his taking of that kingdom with an heir born of his own blood, kinda strange .
Mileenas MKX outfit is still my fav but MK11s facial design just does so much for her. That and her Kitana Voice mimic should not sound so sexy coming out of pirahna teeth.
I like this channel so much. It's awesome... but get a better voice narrator. In fact alot of your narrators sound so boring that it kills the content.
Shao khan is a good evil ruler, but I Rather follow kotal khan. There is one being that Shao khan fears and the is onga the dragon king the original ruler of outworld
