brilliant video! I loved the first performer demonstrating superb concentration and energy sensitivity. I loved how it wasn't just a bunch of people with bow staffs either, but covered a wide range of martial arts weapons. if only there were more respectable martial arts videos on youtube such as this one! thank you!
I have no problem with this. But I'm tired of people viewing martial arts as a performance. People always watch these videos and criticize it all, but it's stupid. You cannot tell how effective a martial art is from watching a video. Only from real life.
This is beyond impressive! It's all about focus, discipline, long years of practice and perseverance channeling and harnessing all your own physical, mental and spiritual energies inside yourself in the most positive and effective way possible! This is the ultimate demonstration of physical, mental and spiritual energy, forces & strength! This is NOT about fighting, but reaching your own ultimate excellence on every level! If one ever reaches this level of excellence, he/she is best prepared to defend him/herself in any given threatening situation by far. I am in awe after watching this...
Amazing display of chi energy, I enjoyed this. This shows the artistic side of martial arts. I think a lot of people are aware that this is for performance and also aware of the fact that fighting skill is the other side of martial arts. Nonetheless their discipline in balance , strength n flexibility is extraordinary! Respect
I know 4 right now, Shotokon Karate, Aikido, Judo, and Jujitsu. I'm 15 and I've been doing it since I was 7, so about 8 years. There aren't many martial arts trainers in my city either, but I found a guy who teaches a Shaolin class. You might search online for any kung fu classes in your area.
Very nice, great focus and concentration, superb discipline required to do this, the U.S., for the most part, seriously lacks this as you can tell by some of the comments.
To say that the great focus and concentration, and superb discipline is something that the U.S. lacks may be true, however you are comparing a culture to a temple of Shaolin monks. There is no culture in the world that is as disciplined as Shaolin monks, including China. These are not just some guys. This is a temple of worshipers that dedicate themselves their entire lives to Buddhism and the mastery of Shaolin Kung Fu. These people do things that most of the world would describe as magic.
Same here! I already know Shotokon Karate, Aikido, Judo and some Jujitsu, and I want to learn Muay Thai and Shaolin Kung Fu and combine them all into my own form that works for me.
Namo Ratna Trayaya, Namo Arya Jnana Sagara, Vairochana, Byuhara Jara Tathagataya, Arahate, Samyaksam Buddhaya, Namo Sarwa Tathagate Bhyay, Arhata Bhyah, Samyaksam Buddhe Bhyah, Namo Arya Avalokite shoraya Bodhisattvaya, Maha Sattvaya, Maha Karunikaya, Tadyata, Om Dara Dara, Diri Diri, Duru Duru Itte We, Itte Chale Chale, Purachale Purachale, Kusume Kusuma Wa Re, Ili Milli, Chiti Jvalam, Apanaye Shoha.
I'm planning on studying Shaolin and Muay Thai to combine it with other arts I know into my own art form. I'm thinking I'll combine the viciousness of Muay Thai with the speed, technique, precision, flexibility and strength of Shaolin and Karate, with the arm bars and wrist locks of Aikido and the throws and pins of Judo and the groundwork of Jujitsu, into one bad ass martial art form. Plus, power enhancement through Qi Gong.
I see this debate on here about where martial arts started. Technically it started on the battlefield. Martial(war) arts, so any empire or nation that ever existed on this planet that had a standing army practiced martial arts. Those that kept coming home from war obviously were doing something right, their peers notice this and asked to be instructed in their style of war(martial) arts. You honor your teacher, thus lineage. Atleast this is my take on it based on common sense...
It's a superb exercise routine, as it was originally meant to be. The problem is when people starting thinking that Chinese yoga was somehow a good way to kick everyone's ass. Not any more than power lifting, though they both have applications in the field.
Thank you for your reply. Where in China? I know amazing Shaolin monks that came from China and now live in the US and do demonstrations and teach, that is why I asked.
What I find that's really great about China is that they keep the old chinese kung fu traditions. If I'm not mistaken, most of China used to be made up of kung fu schools. Jackie Chan came from a pure kung fu school.
If by "pure" you mean strictly martial arts, then no, the school Jackie was in wasn't a pure kung fu/wushu school. He trained at the Peking Opera School which involved martial arts training but for the purpose of theater.
Yeah, keep in mind, the staffs they are hitting on the ground from a leaping attack, are the same ones that they are BREAKING IN HALF over this guys body.
You do not pray in a demonstration of shaolin kung fu the only thing you do that may look like it is bowing either to your opponent, teacher or just to the audience
este tipo de luta é capaz de arrancar bocados de carne do teu corpo com os dedos, por favor nao julgues uma arte pelas aparencias, primeiro practica depois fala.
