I think there’s an error in translation? The robe the guy is wearing isn’t that of the Emperor (Chinese emperors wear flashy gold robes). He looks more like a senior official or minister of some kind. He’s also called Lord Shen rather than your Majesty and ppl are standing around him instead of kowtowing and groveling.

the movie was amazing, the ending could have been better, he lost his 2 childhood friends but it was shown as if he is not bothered

It's the opposite most likely, it is likely the reason he failed the first fight with the corrupt official is because he was so emotional. He took a few hours to mourn and get himself together before the execution and that is what gave him the edge in the last fight.

@@amadeus5182 yes, its honestly shocking someone could watch what we just watched and have the confidence to interject to correct someone and be so wrong. Wrong about Rong hehe heh. Han and Rong were his childhood friends that both died. Ting was Tigers daughter that he helped hide in the beginning and won the right to marry by defeating Tiger. Granted I don't know if I butchered the names of the characters, but at least I understood Rong and Ting were two different women.
