Soundtrack at the beginning of the movie, epic as hell. By full version I mean that I have extended the actual version to one almost 10 minutes long so you can play the song while doing something unstoppable.
Hong Kong geographically is Chinese but do you really want to go into what the people are like? Hong Kong people pride themselves for being different from the rest of the Chinese due to the autonomy and freedom of speech that makes Hong Kong distinct from the rest of China. It is because the British valued creativity and freedom of expression more than China that the creative minds of Hong Kong were allowed to flourish - including Stephen Chow who made this movie. This is why you never go up to a Hong Kong person (now) and tell them that Hong Kong is China. Because to a Hong Konger, China represents suppression of freedom, oppression, corruption and brainwashing of its people. If you've read George Orwell's 1984, Big Brother is the CCP. However I must lament now, that when this movie was made, the British had handed over Hong Kong back to the Chinese for about 4 years now. During that time the people of Hong Kong were optimistic about re-integrating into China and hoping that by being autonomous that China can learn from the success story of Hong Kong's autonomy and follow in Hong Kong's footsteps to a society ruled by the people. Optimism peaked during the Beijing Olympics and it appears now that China is forcibly changing Hong Kong into another mainland Chinese city - a betrayal for Hong Kong as they were hoping to share their success with China.
Favourite scene: as Bruce Lee is getting carried off, the team salutes him and says: "Even though your person is no longer here, your spirit will forever stay with us." Monumental piece of dialogue - especially for Hong Kong'ers, whom may wrestle with their crisis of identity. One of the dopest homages to a legend.
God bless the makers of this beautiful and empowering music. no one can stand against the power of this music. entire body boosts with confidence and positive energy. i believe this music is quite meditative too. I'm sure definitely you all guys agree.
I was having a long 10K run. Towards the end while I was tired n unable to run, this music played on my earphone and I got a huge dose of Shaolin energy to sprint till the end much faster.
that they do, the kung fu films just feel so much more epic than our superhero movies because of the music utilized. I say for the next Man of Steel movie they get the guy who did Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer, Hero, or Fearless! except for the main theme song we just need an updated version of the classic Williams score.
Thaddeus Thompkins besides dude, US action movies doesn't contain real fights due to the budget. Cungfu movies are the oposit, they want the real deal, that's why Jackie chan mostly dont have a stunt double, cause the stunt man can't do kung fu, and Jackie as well as Jet li want thea real fight :) (controlled ofc but still)
Whenever music inspires you, it means the song is worth listening. I hope music nowadays can go back to the times when it inspire ppl, not for bad but for good reasons.
I was 3 years old when this movie came out and was about 8 when i first watched it and yesterday after 17 years i rewatched it and it brought me back in 2006 what a dope movie man absolute perfection of comedy and motivation

Rewatched this movie a few days back and I absolutely love it, despite a couple of things that felt off. And this soundtrack is FIRE - as someone said, Asians damn well know how to make heroic songs haha! Bless the actors and the team that made this movie a success 🙃
Chill out man, I'm from China and your correct that there is a difference, but they are increasingly closing the gap between the two regions. I understand your resentment and possible racism against Mainland Chinese people, but take it easy it will all be over soon.
If Shaolin Soccer 2 came out it's make Shaolin Soccer less special. It's better if there's only this one and only Shaolin Soccer as it just makes every bit of it amazing.

I was running an Oriental themed D&D campaign and I used this as the theme for my game, and I play it as background music during every session (and then I move into stuff like Wulin movie themes and stuff), my players got so immersed in the story they were doing historical research of their own accord to enrich their character backgrounds. The kicker was that NONE of them had any prior experience to Chinese media, outside of Jackie Chan and Jet Lee movies, and so NONE of them had watched Shaolin Soccer.
I play for a team with ex drug users, ITs my 4th year playin with them now, in those 4 years i have practiced, jiujitsu, muay thai and now boxing. Never lose your edge, Comrade!
