What I've noticed about these things is that they don't work when pressure tested - which is the only thing that matters. Show some sparring or some real competition.
It is very educative to know what the application could be and how it is designed in this specific form or Yin Shou Gun. But if you only give meaning for using applications in real life or fight situations you are only seeing the tip of the iceberg and niglect the fundamental phillosofy where it was build on. The training by whole is designed to disrupt the ego and macho culture that arises in ones mind. Not everything in life is based on what is the best or most effective, but on what teaches you the most valuable lesson. The worst enemy is and will always be inside oneself.
