I think my proudest guitar moment was when this song just clicked in my head and I could play it after months of frustration. Still has the same impact on me as when I first heard it in Leon. Shivers every time, Sting singing or not. Truly beautiful piece of music
Neil Burgess, I would love to be able to play this. I have doubts about my ability to stretch that many frets. Maybe I can improvise if I try. I think it is a timeless piece of art.
The fact he wrote this riff automatically makes him one of the best guitarists of the 90s. And since the 90s is the 2nd best decade of music, he is one of the best guitarists in history.
you 're kidding ? ......He is at his accurate place ....perhaps overrated through the dithyrambic following comments and business mediatic influence . You have to know and listen lot of greats to be objective .
You wouldn't have thought that it was possible to make this song even more beautiful than the original, but Dominic takes it to a new level altogether. Everyone who likes music should see and hear this!
I really think this is one of the most soothing and mysterious pieces of guitar playing I’ve ever heard. It’s more challenging than it looks. Kudos to Dominic and thank you❤
This is to me easily the most tenderhearted and truthful rendering that one could hope to hear. Much respect among this gathering of musicians. Sometimes there is the tendency to cry when I see and hear but I postpone that for afterward because I don't want to miss anything while SOMH unfolds. These are musically very dear people.
Best composition ever written, oh my god this melody/Song became a part of my life, I have listened to it for over 20 years, Sting is a genius, thank you, thank you 💗💗💗💗
It seems unbelievable but this song on this specific performance really touches my heart. Thank you dearly all for making this fantastic combinations of perfectness.
I had the good fortune and pleasure of watching and hearing this fine artist last night - as part of Sting's band. Of course they played this beautiful song, co-written by Dominic and Sting.
Espectacular versión y espectacular banda. Preciosa y bellísima. Dominic eres un genio de las seis cuerdas le das un sentimiento, que pocos sabrían darle.
Exquisite version. . ❤ That's all I can say. . Just recently became aquainted with DM's guitar work. .all I can say is I'm hooked from the 1st song Amazing!!
Addendum: For what its worth - my personal favorite moment is @ ~1:40. At this point Dominic yields to the pianist to allow him the opportunity to solo voice from the piano. Dominic becomes the factor of support to the piano within the same stylistic confines he portrays as the lead player; the results are most pleasing (Dominic shows his appreciation with an acknowledging smile. It takes a village.
Without the voice of Sting this song is just as beautiful as it is with it, such great musicians, they let their instruments do the talking, and it is easy to understand what they are telling us.
Wow... this is absofreakinlutely fantastic! I've always loved this song and to hear Dominic's instrumental version is such a treat. I'm going to see Sting perform live in a few weeks and I'm REEEEEEALLY hoping that Dominic will be there as well to play this song, because it's one of my favorites!
Wow, the pianist!! What a surprise. Wonderful music composed and played by amazing musicians! BTW, I kept missing Gary Moore (RIP) while I was listening this tune. Thanks Hedy Kim for uploading this!
They play so well together. This one emphasizes Dominic's trademark musical style. I did not know it was co-written yet this aurally makes perfect sense. Regards, David.
I think my favorite version of them all is the Berlin live 2010 with Jo Lawry. Yes, this version just knocks me out every time I hear it (as do many of the selections on this recording. As for instrumental only I like this live (from Korea) version very much too. Regards.
Well done the pianist; he played 'the voice' well. Well done the bass player - and the percussionist was no slouch, either. Dominic Miller was just ... Dominic Miller - The Lugubrious Virtuoso.
The first time i have ever heard this guitar instrumental i fall in love with the song (; At the time and now i thought it's the most soothing sound i've ever heard
