It's great to see DAO videos in 2020. The DA4 dev diary got me back into the great game in the series, so these videos are a fun watch. It should be noted that there's a +30% elemental damage cap in Origins, bumping up to +50% in Awakening; so if anyone is trying this in the base game they can drop the Dreamsever and still hit the +30% spirit damage with the Staff and Black Hand Gauntlets.
Oh dang. Good looking out. I never knew about the cap. You can drop the gloves and get fire damage ones for 30% fire and 20% spirit. Charred ashen gloves or whatever.
I always thought that the shapeshifter is such a failed class. It is literally worse and more useless than any other spec in DAO. I always figured that there is no way you can survive the Harvester with a shapeshifter, but I might be wrong. Secretly though, I always wanted to do a build around it, because the concept of transforming into an animal is so cool. Your build looks very effective and it made me think. Thank you!
I've really tried to make shapeshifting work, and it does to a certain extend, but I've just come to the conclusion that unless you put all of your points into Strength, a mage is better off never shapeshifting and just use OP AoE spells that either control the entire battlefield or kill all enemies (or do both at the same time...).
I know... you uploaded it 3 years ago, but thank you! I really want to use Morrigan's shapeshifting and I built something similar to your mage, but on Morrigan. It works really well. A lot of websites talking that shapeshifting is completely useless for the Warden, and Morrigan too. They were wrong! I just found your video, so I don't know, but do you have videos about DAO companions builds somewhere here or not? Or maybe... could you make it? :)
Glad to hear you made Morrigan’s specializations work! Most of my builds you can translate to your companions.. I most likely won’t be making any more build videos for DA:O in the future. I’m really good at starting something but never finishing it..
If only they allowed to keep sustained spells while shifted and merely unable to cast magic once shifted then a Shapeshifter/Arcane Warrior would have been an invincible tank. Just imagine sustaining Arcane Shield(w/fade shield passive), Combat magic and shimmering shield, equip the cinch of skillful maneuvering and spellward, then transform to flying swarm and you basically get a DoT tank with 95% dodge. Alas, we get the most useless spec across all classes in Origins. Such a shame because I love its concept.
I always run this one. I did a Shapeshifter Arcane Warrior build during my first playthrough. Fought the Archdemon as a Bereskarn and won. Perhaps I didn’t have such a hard time because I speced into strength as well as willpower (or whatever the magic-increasing stat is)? I never had much of an issue getting damage out of the bear form
@@ChoppedCelery Oh yeah. I was kitted out with full Juggernaut armor when I was done with the game. I forget what weapon I had though. I think it was a greatsword. Never much cared for staves tbh
Using this for velanna , got her as arcane warrior , keeper shape shifter so she chargers in , of her health gets low use keeper and while enemies are stunned become flyin swarm and get health back til ready to charge in again
I have tried making a shapeshifter mage. However i never could figure out the attributes. The two attributes everyone agrees on are willpower and magic. Afterwards it gets muddle some say you need dexterity or strength. At other times people say you need both strength and dexterity. These web sites are extremely confusing . Some clarification would be appreciated.
