My budgies avian vet trims her beak and nails with a Dremel. Thankfully she doesn't put my birds under gas to do it. Belle is so beautiful and a good bird! Great video

Good tutorial. I use use dog nail clippers to get the initial length, then follow up with a file, and finally sanding sticks to obtain a smooth finish. Neither my Harris Hawk nor my Red Tail react well to the sound and feel of a Dremel tool. I'm also concerned the Dremel sanding spool generates or can generate excessive heat and vibration that could be transmitted to the bird's skull. I favor caution over speed.

I saw a video of two ladies doing this to a Bald Eagle at the Alaskan Raptor Center. One was holding her, I think it was Spirit or Sitka, 2 of the Female residents. They didn't have a good on the Eagle though but she was fine with them doing it. They done her beak and Talons best I remember

Yes I don’t like it when they have to put them to sleep my parakeets does it on their own but if there’s something wrong then I would have to take them to the vet

How and why does the bird tolerate this intense, prolonged noisy vibrational AGGRESSIVE intrusion of its HEAD? I would imagine it would have a panic attack, amazing.

When it comes to a Vetinarin, (I REALLY REALLY wish I had followed my dream and went on to be a vet and opened a clinic at my house) but anyway, it seems that if you have live stock you can find an expensive Vetinarin not exactly a good one. But you can usually find ONE somewhere lol But as far as small animals or smaller I should say, if you have anything besides a dog or a cat, Good luck with finding a vet that KNOWS how to treat them. There are Vetinarins that will, but that doesn't mean they actually need to. Anesthesia should be used as a very VERY LAST resort!! Only when there's absolutely NO other way to accomplish what you need to do

How often, generally, do you need to cope the beaks? EDIT - ah, I asked a minute too soon! LOL ;-) Is every six months or so pretty common for all your birds?

It's made out of keratin like human nails.
