Have the old property owners come by to see what you have done with your place? Ifound your channel about 10 minths ago and have learned so much. I enjoy watching you guys so much. It is almost as if you are talking right to us. No scripts, yay! I have discovered so many plants watching your channel. I am now obsessed with heucharas and nine barks and have a bunch now! I get a piece of paper out and take notes while watching your videos. It is really nice to see the plants and trees in your space and how you use them, along with how things have worked and not worked for you. I am in zone 4 and get frustrated sometimes not being able to get some of the plants you are able to, but I did get a corral berry, but no beauty berry for me... We get "invested" in your life and the development of your property and it is so fun! Thank you!

I feel you (on a MUCH smaller scale). Before I could do any landscaping at our house we had to dig a French drain, build a deck and retaining wall, and lay a cement walkway and patio. It took a few years to be able to tackle the un-fun stuff, and I got so sick of the mud and weeds, but I’m so glad we did it that way. This year the gardens are finally coming into their own after a few years’ time to establish (and LOTS of clearance plants later 🙃). It’s exciting to track the progress when we look back at old pictures.

I started watching spring 2020 and now hooked. My wife started in 2018 and the quality of our flowers in 2019 got my attention and she introduced me to Garden Answer. For example, our old fashioned hydrangeas bloomed for the first time in 5 years after she followed your advice and fed them Rose-tone. We love the follow-up vlogs. Glad Aaron is wearing a mic, enjoy his comments and your discussions as you plan and workout challenges. The video quality is very good and the editing deserves an award. FYI: our plants are 80% PW, I have Rose, Bulb, Plant and Bio-Tone on my shelves AND have my own Felcos.

Hi Laura and Aaron, Donna here! Love what you're doing marrying the two properties! Just a little insight into building a road that will be mostly maintenance free. We live in the exact same zone as you guys, even down to our lovely alkaline soil! We have a long drive way like yours and took the time to build a shale base and domed it in the middle like your excavator man suggested. We have had little to no upkeep on the drive way in 35 years! We also have a business on our property which adds many more vehicles a day than just regular residential traffic! Hope this helps!

Can you do a video about an overview of all the things you learned from transforming the new land? You mention often that you've learned so much during the process. I think it'd be really great to have a summary of the main things you feel like you've taken from the process of putting in water, electric, the timing of it all etc. I absolutely love watching every bit of your journey of transforming your property from the year you've moved in until now. I’m glad you are making your driveway a wide one. You never can know if you will order something big enough to require a big truck to get it in. Or if there will be work on the house or barn or trees that call for heavy equipment that needs brought in. It gives you more flexability and that is such a blessing when unexpected situations arise.

What a fun video to watch you describe and show what is happening and what’s going to happen on your property. Watching and listening to the two of you planning everything together is the best!! I feel bad for couples who don’t share common interests and I see that too often. I have married family members and married friends who light up with enthusiasm when they tell about projects they’re working on together. It’s pretty cool and their kids enjoy it too. Everyone in the proverbial boat is rowing in the same direction. It’s nice. Picture a year from now in November 2021 how different this landscape will look. Woot woot!!

One thing he did, you might consider is that he gradually flared the entrance on each side so that his 15ft wide drive was about 25-30ft wide (its actually wider than that I believe)so you could turn in without tearing up the yard.....lol. just as I wrote this, you said you were going to do that! This was so exciting and satisfying to watch, so no need to apologize! (If I were your land neighbor, rather than your virtual neighbor, I'd be watching from my house!) I love seeing this infrastructure come together and then your fabulous plantings will follow. It guides me in what I am trying to do on my small piece of Earth. Loved hearing you and Aaron talk about all the details, dreams, and pleasures. Thanks!

Yes coffee with Laura, Aaron, and the road grater!! It's neat to watch them grade roads and create things and Chad is good at his job! All the large projects that need to get done before the pretty can happen are also interesting to watch so thank you for taking us along on this journey. I bet Benjamin would have fun watching the big machinery working and I am sure you guys thought of that as well. :)

I loved the "excavator moving dirt" music! Perfect choice! Not sure who does the picking but it was perfect!

Thank you for showing the details of the infrastructure going in and describing your plans. It's interesting and fun to watch. I really hope Benjamin had a chance to come out and see that big road grader at work! How fun for him to watch that in his own front yard!

Benjamin must be in heaven everytime Chad comes with his big machines!! As someone with a long laneway you may want to rethink keeping that road level and bump it up a bit for rain and melting snow run off. Food for thought.

This is so oddly satisfying to watch! Posts in the back of the dumpster enclosure are great idea plus that shed looks so nice. Love Chad's work!

I LOVE these videos, just getting updates on all the progress you're making. Not going to lie, with the snow you're getting I'm hoping for another Winter Interest Garden Tour. I keep watching the one from last year, it's so wonderfully cosy and calm.

Great video. Aaron, it was so nice to see someone making the driveway wide enough. When you were talking about how wide to make it and mentioned about 2 cars wide (passing each other) I was like "yes, finally a wide enough driveway, someone put some thought into it" I'm sure you know that you will be glad you made it that wide when you go to use it. Love your videos, you give me such inspiration and I am making my 5 year plan for my backyard. THANK YOU.

That was really interesting! I don't think I'll get it all spatially till it's done but love seeing the process. It's amazing the amount of planning that goes into the infrastructure! Since you've established yourselves as a John Deere family it was a bit shocking to see that Case sitting there on the property ! Lol - Farmer joke !!

I am excited to see all the improvements you guys are making!! My son was a lineman. He loved his job!! On November 28th,2016 he was killed while restoring power. He was 29 years old. I'm pretty sure that when the power company is replacing your power lines they'll be getting instructions whispered in their ears. He liked pulling pranks, so be aware of strange stuff that might go on...lol.

I love these updates. What a fantasy to get to shape a property. It's going to be gorgeous! Put some lilacs somewhere so you get to smell them as you drive by.

Is it sad that I love all your extremely long videos, it makes me feel at peace. I've watched all your previous videos and learnt so much about gardening. Of course climate wise, we're two opposite climate, being in England where it always rain. Seriously love your videos. Hope you and all your family is doing well! xx

Great video showing more of the utilities/facilities side of things. Also Aaron has the mind of a developer...always thinking ahead. You all are such a great team!
