I am reading book for 2 hrs now to understand this permissions stuff and just came here to see if may help. In 6 mins, got my job done. Understood and ready to implement. :) Thank you very much!
Sometimes i've plowed through pages and pages of my course material and still don't get it. My course book is a bit vague on the core concept, explains a myriad of semi related information, don't really give any practical examples and dilute it further by explaining how to do specific things like change permissions etc. A lot of "what " and some "how" but not "why" really. I feels like its all over the place making their explanation kind of hard to follow. When my eyes and head are tired from all the reading i just want someone to explain to me as if i was 5 years old. Crystal clear after the demonstrations. This gave me exactly what i needed, how to go about it, why id do it one way or another, and in a format that's straight to the point without being to hasty or to slow. Real quality content right here. I find myself coming back to this channel over and over and not once have i been disappointed. A lot of teachers out there need to study the techniques applied here. Thank you so much for this.
Well done ITFreeTraining, I will be glad to add more knowledge to this precious explanation for hole world :) Notice, Share permisionss will be applyed only when user attend to get to the folder from network, and share perms. can be assigned only to folders. NTFS permisionss will be applyed when user attend to get to the folder from the network, and if he/she sit localy for Server(if he has logon locally right). One good example for Share + NTFS When is user member of more groups, for example User1 is member of Group1 and Group2 Group 1 have: Share=Read,NTFS=Read/Execute Group 2 have: Share=Change,NTFS=Full Control It's good practice to get summary of all, Group1 Share= Read + Group2 Share= Change = Most cumulative wins= Change Group1 NTFS= Change + Group2 NTFS= Full Control = Most cumulative wins= Full Now it's time to get most restricitve Share(Change)+NTFS(Full Control)=Change Greetings from Serbia, God bless !
+Nemanja Jovic That is correct. When logged in locally only NTFS permission apply. However, if you connect to a share on the local computer and access it through that share, the share permissions will apply.

Sir how I can read the permissions details of the shared folders using c++? I'm using NetShareEnum function(docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/lmshare/nf-lmshare-netshareenum). And when I tried to print the shi502_permissions member of the struct PSHARE_INFO_502 gives me 0 always. Can't getting the values of it. Is there any other method? Please help!
