16:40 Something that EVERYONE needs to hear regarding "plans", especially pre-round plans: They are just that, PLANS. They arent set in stone, they are not the only thing you can or should do during a round. A huge part of Valorant is learning to ADAPT TO THE ROUND. You planned to end B but their sentinel and their only alive player is B, why would you not Adapt to the situation and go A where you have a guaranteed plant? Learn. To. Adapt. It wins games, literally.
is it just me who started watching this guy 4 months ago who climbed from gold to plat from his tips? like i didnt get a vod review or watch streams alot but sometimes and everyone else making the same mistakes i am are helping me getting better.... His explaining and logic is just so simple and clear. Ty alot hooj. Count me in for a T3 1st of july i promise.
no, you are not alone. stuck around gold for like how many acts without consistency in games and what not. however only watching coach wooj vods starting last january, allowed me to ascend to plat in a couple of weeks. Huge thanks to the boomer to diamond series too. I just came back from a long break from playing valorant and now started to play consistently again and in just a couple of weeks i climb from gold 2 to plat 2.
honestly if a friend of yours is toxic, its most likely he's not gonna learn and will be mad at you if u do send this to him anyway. toxic people dont like to be called toxic. u r just here to "see" how toxic people probably think and probably a way to deal with them.
yeah i have a toxic frd that likes to be toxic to randos. he prob just enjoys it tbh lol. i told him many times, just becuz yr teammate is bad 1 game doesnt mean they r bad. just ignore them and do yr thing, not demoralise them. Nah.. nth works, he just enjoys being toxic lol
10:41 I too sometimes withhold important information from my teammates. I always get queued with mind readers (you know how it is) and talking wastes valuable gamer energy, you see.
Oh my god, 14:24 this is what I have been missing. That makes so much sense. I had always heard that in split, getting control of mid was important but when I tried getting mid my team always died because of the pinch from ropes and heaven. I thought I sucked at split because of skill issue or the sage wall at mid, but never thought about this. I feel dumb and enlightened at the same time right now.
Halfway through, it is also important to have a proper etiquette of team comms and be able to articulate it properly. To be comfortable when calling out pre round strats and having an idea what to do if it fails. I have my fair share of people not listening or following the pre round, but what can you do? Keep the positivity and still continue to comm properly. Always remember that what happens after pre round, you have no control of. Thus, whatever happened next shrugged it off. On the next pre round comm, kindly restate the strat you want to do and simply remind them of it. Either to walk quitely and contact explode or to rush site or something. Personally, I believe being a good communicator could seperate you from plat and dia to ascendant. Not to mention that there are other stuff more important to tackle with in this particular vod like having prep and being comfy in the map.
I did have a trouble playing split before until I watched coach wooj som split vod. I also did some research on my own watching different vods on how to approach split as omen. Recently I realized that it is of key importance that you are prepped and are confident or comfortable when playing certain maps with your picked agents. Thus, I give thanks to coach wooj for the resources that he has given!
This past week I was able to get from Silver 3 to Plat 2, and I have to shoutout your videos for helping me climb! I barely play ranked as it is, but I decided I would put your videos I've been watching for months to full use. 📝 I still make lots of mistakes, but I think the biggest factor in me climbing is me being a positive and kind teammate despite the toxicity I see in ranked. People think I'm not "real" as a person since I keep the vibes up a lot, which actually gets a big laugh out of me LMAO. Not sure how far I'll be able to go, but I'm having fun and that's what matters most 👍
I'm not gonna lie I was hardstuck silver with like 200 hours in this game for the longest time but once I started watching vods reviews and took ranked seriouslly I literally peaked plat this month. Great advice and provides incredible insight on each role and the advice really works. 10/10 hope to hit diamond next act
On one hand it's great that we have the banana man dismantle the toxic behaviour as a good example to people. On the other hand I'm flabbergasted at the lack of self-awareness it takes to submit a VOD of you malding at your team despite some serious misplays on your own part, while also being part of a community that focuses on self criticism and improvement. average gamer moment for sure
I like how coach wooj says at the end that people who has not reached dia and in plat are pretty lazy! Indeed, I am not an exception to it. However in the past few weeks, I have been consistently working on my comms and not to mention did a few assignments on maps where I felt really uncomfortable playing. So far, with the help of coach wooj recent videos, I have been consistently climbing. It is also a good reminder that just queueing up will not get you an optimal way to rank up and thus it is also important to vod review, consistent fundamental training, and perhaps having map preps and be comfortable on playing the map. Do your assignments guys.
Now i am starting to think maybe I am the problem i can't rank up Maybe it was not my teammates this whole time it was me. I will now judge myself as well whether i am being a W teammate or not .
15:14 Omen "imma smoke heaven but that doesn't mean we need to fully commit." 15:24 Omen "COME ON LETS GO LETS GO" fully committed legit 10 seconds into the match...like wtf kind of mentality is that.
I feel so dumb for never realizing the benefit of ropes control. Obviously to prevent getting backstabbed when taking mail, I always thought of it as more of an optimal control thing maybe to go back A later or something. Great video
"You know when you load up the match tab and you invite to party..." Me, a high silver to low gold player: you can do what now? Bro, i feel so dumb. I had no idea you could do that. I could have so many more friends and win so many more games if I had just realized this.
As an Ascendant 1 player with only 73 hours of in game comp experience. It doesn't take a whole lot to learn how to be a good teammate... if you want to improve then you have to focus on yourself as a player and be a good teammate. Give good comms, practice when you can and you will improve
hey wooj do you think a pro vod is useful even if the pro is autopiloting? sometimes it feels like they have a few plays and then rely more on being better than the rest, I might be wrong though. Love your vids
I have gone from Silver 2 to Plat 2 in this current Act thanks to watching your videos and streams. I have time to attempt Diamond 1 still, and that's the goal! Banana = GOAT
Is Diamond actually expected for most players after 300 hours? Diamond is like the top 15-20% so being below diamond is probably normal after 300 hours
That depends. 100% of the community definitely doesn't have over 300 hours nor are they all even competitive players. While Mr. Banana potentially made up an arbitrary number, the logic makes sense. I think even if it's you're first shooter/pc game that's more than doable. Some people with good habits and routines can get there in 10% of the time.
Ofc not, thats why I offer review to people who arent yet diamond with over 300 hours. I’m just trying to avoid reviewing vods where the biggest issue is experience/intuition. This rule does that really well.
350 hrs unrated, 170 hrs spike rush, 160 hrs swiftplay, 93 hrs ranked. Currently g2 but barely cause I literally just double promod before my headset broke. I think im the worlds slowest learner because it took me all of those spike rush and unrated hours just to stop pressing w while shooting.
Now im curious what the banana would say to me. Am i a lazy player too? I have around 1k hours now and since ep 5 ive been consistently in diamond and never gotten out of diamond 3.
10:10 i thought i was doing pretty well in plat with 300+ hours in comp. I started in ep 5 act 2, and lots of people started even earlier with levels higher than me are in like silver still I've never really been hardstuck before, if you see my act triangle, you'd see me ranking up every act yes, I'm coping kinda, but I thought I was ranking up pretty fast
Hooj, i have 320 hours and i just ranked out of silver, while you said that they have a lot of hours for platinum, is it still my mechs that I need to work on or do you think that I am being lazy as well?
