MF investors cannot judge which MF portfolio is strong. If they have such skills, they will as well do direct stock investing. So they have to pick funds on past 3-5 years performance though the same performance may not repeat. As long as MF returns beat the index, it is fine.
Very good educative video Shyam. Thanks. I went through the article by Mark Sellers. It is a fantastic read. I read it from a Retail investor point of view. Two out of Seven Traits stood out for me. It is Trait-1, the ability to buy stocks while others are panicking and sell stocks while others are euphoric. Trait-7, the ability to live through volatility without changing your investment thought process. This needs lot of conviction on Market/Economy to enter when blood is there and also lot of conviction to hold our stocks when volatility is too much and to add more if required. In the last video, you said that you have learnt lot of investing from a person who did not complete 10th Grade, but I presume that this person must be gifted to have a brain with hard wired Investing Psychology as Mark Sellers mention in the article !!!
Buying sectoral ETF in sip method and add on some amount to ETF if there is any huge corrections. For sure U will be getting extra 2-3% on whole and Leave it for the next generation. ETF is future in india as it is in US now. Happy investing
I would like to share that after 2000 failed in-stock purchase moved to MF with you know the friend who helped me from 2005. Today I created wealth only due to this and have seen massive benefit due to long time investing for 15 years. I will read the article later
Thanks for sharing a good article. If you can't write clearly, you don't think very clearly. Very good point, sir. I will start by focusing on my writing first.
Thanks much for sharing Mark Sellers speech transcripts…I too like sectoral ETF I’m India and would prefer to take ETF in US if I get the chance..Though I am holding 3 mutual funds , I believe they don’t have much flexibility as they bind to allocate fund to different caps like large, small etc, so this might prevent them efficiently bet on their convictions
If I have well knowledge to find the good portfolio, then I can go direct equity. அது தெரியாதனால் தானே Mutual fund போகிறோம், returns basis fund select பன்றோம். Can you tell us how to choose good mutual fund portfolio
Subramoney and Pattabiraman of freefincal say that just index fund is fine sir for most of commoners and to concentrate on increasing the investment rather than running behind varieties, can you discuss on this topic with subra sir and publish a video for us if possible. when looking at 10 + years, consistency of active MF is also questionable and needs proper monitoring and knowledge to judge the quality of MF pf as well. outsourcing the mf investment to advisories adds on additional doubts according to me rather than giving more peace. so index is not bad at all i suppose.
It would have been better if you explained how you consider a MF portfolio stronger by giving example.if it based on stocks. Then I would have easily buy those stocks itself
Shyam sir.. I am investing in UTI Gold ETF Funds of Funds (FOF) as SIP.. looks like the expense ratio is high.. shall I continue or switch to normal Gold ETF..?
I’ve been following your videos for quite sometime and it has been very useful. Having said that I can’t say the same for this video. If a new retail investor is capable of differentiating a good MF portfolio from the others they can simply do direct equity investments by themselves
Dear Sir, Kindly use the below link. moiglobal-com.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/manualofideas1/wp-content/uploads/mark-sellers_you-want-to-be-the-next-warren-buffett.pdf Regards Team Muthaleetukalam
sir can you speak about Textile sector no one speak about that sector. Most of the companies are undervalued or underrated can you elaborate why? this is my kind request..,
If you choose your funds and manage your asset allocation yourself, then go for direct funds...if you want guidance then you can buy regular funds with an advisory of your choice.
For beginners mf give knowledge and discipline.just watch many mf portfolio where they parked money.later you know equity and how they react.etf is high risk high return.mf 60%, equity 30%,ETF 10% it's my strategy
