Pitchers are an often overlooked table essential. Come along for my antique, modern and classic collection in various styles. From McCoy pottery to sterling silver, there is one for every occasion. See my grandmother's lemonade pitcher used for serving on the wraparound porch of her Victorian home. Such a treasure! Grandmother's Custard Sauce:
2 cups milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 rounded Tablespoon flour
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Heat milk until just ready to boil. Pour milk over sugar, eggs, and flour mixture. Stir well while pouring the hot milk into the mixture. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. When the custard coats the spoon, remove from heat. Add pinch of salt. Place the saucepan of custard in a bowl or larger pan with ice water to cool slightly. When custard is just warm, add the vanilla. Serve cold from a pitcher with fresh berries and pound cake.

Iced Tea Punch:
12 bags mint tea
2 quarts water
1 cup sugar
1 6-ounce frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
1 6-ounce can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
2 trays ice cubes (about 32 cubes)
Boil the water, then steep the tea bags for 4 minutes. Discard tea bags and stir in the sugar. Add ice cubes to chill quickly. Add the lemonade and orange juice concentrate. Chill until ready to serve. Stir the tea in the pitcher before pouring.

Fellow Houstononian here! Just found your channel and I love it!! Would LOVE to see a videos about Spring/Woodlands area...also Conroe. Haven't been out there since the last time I bought a home, but they have a number of thrift shops out there...what are your favorites in Conroe/Spring/Tomball/Woodlands area? Do you have a list somewhere of the best shops in Houston?? Trying to avoid getting on the freeways if possible!! Lol! Anyhow, you've done such a fabulous job on your channel, I already have a list of places I'd never heard of, been in the Houston burbs since 2008! Thanks for sharing all your incredible finds!! Just bought a new home, so time to up my thrifting game! Also, do you have a video on how to look for estate/garage sales around Houston? I saw you have a few estate/garage sale videos, but just wondering where you go to find them! Anyhow, kudos on your RU-vid channel, your production is good, and you're vibe is super chill! Wonderful to hear from a fellow Houstonian! You are too kind! I feature area charity resales on my channel. More to come! For estate sales, go to estatesales.net and plug in your zip code. You will find area sales along with a photo gallery. It's a great way to scout out the sale before driving there and waiting in line. In North Houston, I recommend Home Consignment Center (Woodlands), TEAM Resale in Tomball, Hope Chest Resale Market in Cypress, Goodwill. Inside the loop, Guild Shop, Charity Guild Shop and Bluebird Circle (segment coming soon). It's worth the drive to go into "town". So many treasures await.

Dear Lady Mary Beth.... I'm new to your channel and am learning much about collecting. Since I was a little girl, my grandmother taught me proper etiquette for entertaining by spending time with her and watching all she did. When she passed away, she left a note to my mother asking her to please make sure all her depression glass, China cabinet, pictures of family, sewing machine and some handmade linens/crochet throws were put aside for me instead of donating them all away. As you can imagine, I was thrilled to have them. She was a lady of many talents: Who was simple in character/personality, kind and innovative. (She worked a prestigious job designing "boards" for computers, doing a "mans" job she excelled in her respected company.) She was in fact a homemaker, doing it all! I received a milk glass luncheon collection from her which I have since added a punch bowl set and two pitchers, all thrifted from catholic charities stores. The milk glass is heavy, and your video gave me a few ideas to use them as "dressing" a table. I am using them for Holiday Entertaining, with cranberry "elegant glass plates/coffee cups: my tablescape will be stunning! I will upload a picture on my Instagram so you can see! Just found your channel and I am enjoying your videos. Thank you. FYI - the correct pronunciation of the word "ewer" is (phonetically) you-ur. You are teaching me so much and as a Historian, I enjoy assisting others . . . because ewer is rarely used its erroneous pronunciation is often a "reader's error."

Thanks, Linda, for pointing this out. And in such a tactful gracious way, too. I'd like to respecfully add a bit of correction myself. I watched many of Lady Mary Beth's lovely and informative videos recently and have heard her use the word 'covet' several times. But I believe she is mistaken in her definition, because it always takes me by surprise. Coveting is a way you would feel toward an item you wish to own, not something you already own and love. I think she means 'treasure' instead.

You have a lovely and extensive collection of pitchers. I collect pitchers, too, and have more than I need, but I just can't help myself. lol I have 3 Gurgle Pots in my collection in different colors and sizes (and hoping to collect more!). They are a lot of fun. I remember growing up my Mother always had a green (her favorite color) pressed glass pitcher of ice water on the dining table. Good memories.

This is such a beautiful collection, Lady Mary Beth. Your grandmother's etched pitcher with the lid is unusual; I don't think I've seen a non-plastic pitcher with a lid. The sterling silver pitcher with the monogram is lovely, and I love the shape of the spout. Thanks so much for showing these very attractive items, and for sharing the recipe for your grandmother's custard. Is it on your website? I couldn't find it, but perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place. Many thanks.

Your collection of pitchers is amazing. Each one is beautiful, and interesting. Does your Waterford martini pitcher have a stirring wand? Speaking of Waterford, when I wanted to buy a pitcher in my Lady Noreen pattern, my local shop did not have it in stock. But, later in the day, they called back to say that one had been found in their warehouse inventory, in the Maureen section. As you know, Lady Noreen is the taller-stemmed version of the shorter Maureen. It was a good lesson to learn, in that if a pattern of glassware has two styles, they will usually share the same serving pieces (pitchers, decanters, bowls, etc.) Thanks again!

I have plans to feature our home in Germany with my dish collection and dinner parties. We are just a few minutes from France. Metz is a nearby city with lots of history and culture. I have a feeling my friends will be getting pitchers for birthday gifts. We are at our home in Germany right now and realizing we only have one glass pitcher. There are a few made of porcelain and stoneware that are antiques, but these are more for display. They do not serve cold beverages from pitchers here.
