don't forget audio compression. the dynamic range of the audio also gives a different feel. good rule of thumb is 2:1 ratio talking, 3:1 sfx. Also, you can manually EQ sounds to get rid of high frequencies.

what do you mean by 2:1 ratio? Like the talking should be twice louder than the other sounds? And sfx be three times louder than the rest?

@@TehGabosh someone talking with a dynamic range of 12 DB would compress to a range of 6 DB with two to one 2:1. Note this is from loudest to softest not peak like normalization.

Sound design in videos is so important and the best sound design you'll hear in videos comes from people who produce music as well as do editing for example. Producing good music is so much more advanced in every kind of way what comes to audio that when you combine these two skills there are endless possibilities.😃 Proudly I can say I'm probably one of those people since I do both with passion.

I have to disagree. The best musicians don't do SFX or even think about it and the other way around. They both are infinite worlds which take up all the time in the world. That's redundant but it's true. Music is way more infinite if that's possible. A different thing is that you, like me, can do a bit of both, but student of all crafts master of none. I mean no disrespect but your statement is just not true. There can be exceptions... geniuses, but they're not around here.

If you want to do sound design, don't use your video editor except for a draft. Get a DAW!

I usually edit all my sounds in a DAW (Cubase, in my case)... then import it to Premier and call it a day

I really wanted to dislike that video because of the title. But it actually is quite good. All the tipps are not just dumb. Draw attention with your sound, but don't loose the ambience. Bring the sounds into perspective with reverb and EQ. Sound layering for a more appealing richer sound. All good things. Good job. The next step would be to move to an DAW for edit sounding. I find it quite a hassle to build a Sounddesign in Premiere. And I never do it unless I have to do some preview Sounddesign for a scene, but it always bugs me if I have to do it.

Does anyone know a patch to Premiere Pro mask-dissolve problem? I mean when you have an opacity mask and have a dissolve effect, it makes an ugly black background pop up. Yes, I know I can use opacity keying as a workaround but I'd want an actual fix.

I too went to film school, and design school and have been working in the industry for 10+ years. I'm one of the artists you recreated my VFX on. I stand by my comment. Your titles are getting click-bait-y, the content is staying strong tho.
