December baby here! My birthday is Dec 16, so I get how she feels. I just get cards on my birthday, and then opening presents on Christmas, my mum says it's birthday & Christmas present. So it's been a while since I've gotten actual birthday presents

Christmas Eve is exactly my B-day... I'm so used to just let it pass by... I mean, even trying to call a friend for a drink will NEVER work out. Gosh! I love your shorts! I like how you take all these relatively "little" things in life and just focus in on em'. There are plenty of stories to tell from everyone's lives and plenty of experiences from a single story. I think you convey this very well. I think a great example is "Komorebi" (which I absolutely love).

This really resonates with me more than I expected. Even though my birthday is Jan 6 I still had this kind of issue. People were still out of town on my actual birthday or busy with something (namely going back to school in the last like 5 years). So, like her, I lowered my expectations for my friends to celebrate my birthday or doing something special.

lol. my birthday is actually on xmas eve, so i can relate to how she feels. i've grown up now and it doesnt bother me anymore. there's always going to be someone else in a worse scenario in life, so not celebrating my birthday seems insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah, I was curious what was in the box as well. However, I was rewatching the scene, and I don't think it was the main focus of what was in the box. It was placed more for situational irony, when Jill said, "no gifts," (it then pans to the gift box) because she didn't want to burden people to celebrate her birthday on Christmas. It highlights the fact that she actually does want her birthday to be celebrated but she puts on airs to stay strong.

Yeah the gift was a red herring. The timing of it was that while he had a gift to acknowledge her, he realized on this bday she needed something more than a present as a gift, but actions to feel gifted.

This skit is very relatable for me. As a person who was born on Christmas, I have went through that phase of feeling that my birthday disappears because of how special Christmas is. I used to complain even towards my parents but now I think differently. I feel thankful to meet up with my family every year on Christmas rather than spending it alone. Great video Wong Fu!

I've watched so many WFP videos and I guess the one overall critique I have of their videos is this. The dialogue seems forced. I feel as if this isn't an issue with individual actors but a larger issue? Incorporating a sense of spontaneity would really bring great WFP videos to the next level.

It’s 2am and I’m crying! This hits so close to home coz my birthday is December 21st and Christmas parties everywhere. No such thing as birthday gift AND Christmas gift. Always a two in one present. It’s sad when people greet you merry Christmas/ happy holidays but not happy birthday coz it’s forgotten due to the festivities. Merry birthday to me :’)

I totally relate to this skit haha with my birthday always falling around thanksgiving, I never get really celebrate my birthday. My family sometimes throws me dinner if they can but normally I just mix my birthday with thanksgiving and my cake usually just ends up being a turkey. Happy BirthThanks!

My Birthday is December 24th too. totally can relate. No extra gifts like everyone thinks, cuz everyone is broke...no party on actual date, because everyone has plans with their loved ones, also most stuff are closed/and or crowded. Thankfully my family always made sure to make me feel special. We dont call it Christmas Eve, but my birthday....I get something special on that day too. And of course the cake is always Christmas themed, but after discovering Asian bakeries with their cute designs, I don't even mind anymore.

My younger brother and sister are December 24th babies (twins). Of course, our family are more 'hang out together' rather than 'decorated party' type people. Our only solid tradition for birthdays is that the person having the birthday picks their dinner. So, Christmas Eve always had two meals.

CAN RELATE OF SOMEWHAT. My bday is on the 26th, and when everyone else in the US is celebrating Xmas, I'm always on the flight going back to China. No Xman tradition for my family, also the flights out on 26th are always cheaper. It's not like people want to prioritize, but I never get 2 gifts per year. It's always just 1 Merry Birthday gift.

yea I can totally feel her. My bday falls between Xmas, Boxing Day (aka Australian Black Friday) and New Year so everyone's either away for holidays or juz party hard and forget about it. My daughter is dec 23 and I made sure that we made a huge deal about it because of this. My cousins birthday is the day after Christmas and my sister is on Thanksgiving every 4years or so and they told me how much it sucks. Mine was always school vacation because of presidents day and it was nice for sleep overs but I would see other girls get balloons and special stuff delivered at lunch time in high school and I was bummed out by it.
