Choose vocabs like RLL or RLRLL, paradiddles or mixed combos like LKLRRK, orchestrate them slowly on the kit, one at a time then just speed it up a bit after your comfortable. Theres also a good tutorial on drumeo from juan carlito mendoza on how to expand your vocabs in 11 ways. Practice those same vocabs in different subdivisions and apply them to music you like. Then string other combos of rudiments together and explore! Also check out gary chaffees number system. You can learn to group different numbers together to get one bar of 4/4 (e.g. 754 = 16 notes, 664, 3355 etc)

@@ShedSessionsNL I understand where you're coming from and I'm sure he's done studio work and short tours. But as a veteran of 30 years behind a kit countless albums in studio time born and raised in San Diego California. It's a whole different beast when you start a band from nothing and build it up to touring bands like 311 Incubus and tool. And even after that just plain local gigs and fooling around with your best friends and end up making a reel-to-reel album and then two years in a row at the San Diego music awards being voted amongst your peers and winning it's a whole different aspect of the musician's career. Again this guy is technically way more advanced than I will ever be. There's just something about like back mid-to-late 90s at Loyola MarymountI was laying down the Black eyed peas drum tracks on their first demo tape. Way before Fergie. Now Will has come full circle and look how good this new single happy is with Snoop. Best of luck to you my friend in all of your future endeavors.
