I'm from Brazil and I used to watch this wave on youtube constantly. Lived in Sydney for two years and surfed shark island several times. I can guarantee it's way scarier than it looks on videos. It's super shallow, the swell that hits the island is SUPER MASSIVE and it's also a pretty crowded spot (I reckon it gets harder to get a good positioning on the spot) but ozzies are very friendly and the wave is SICK af :)
I can't believe this has been up for 5 months and only got 7 likes. That first barrel was sick, I guess people don't understand how shallow the island is
I love how some of the bigger waves give them a little head start, with a mushy take-off and all, and then dump grind! It's a trick! And their stances: none of that I got this made stand up stuff, it's more like their in a fight with a pissed of jaguar with a plastic knife and flip flops.
I've always been wondering if it was so dangerous out there and my job finally sent me to Australia in May so I got lucky to surf Shark Island. Shit it was no joke it's really shallow and each time you fall you have to battle to not get you head knocked ! When I arrived at the line up a young local "Adam Smith" I believe got smashed to the head and was covered by blood : what a welcome ahah
were is this wave located...insane....i loved the wave that was like 2 feet when the guy took off and all the sudden it is 8 feet getting the barrel of a lifetime
Watching this l can't believed we surfed it in the early to mid 70s with chunky boards n only 2 to 4 guys out though not a lot of guys regularly surfed it .. would've love to have those Lil pocket rockets back then ..

No matter what music you put to this you can’t beat the sound of Mother Nature, just let the waves make the music this video would of been so much better

I’ve watched that Hawaiin body board legend mike stewart get flogged and go in during the shark island shootout 😂 just you tube the name of the song or iTunes and band will come up ! It’s says name of song at end of clip
plenty of lid riders out there this day and they got some of the best rides , the filmer either didnt film any or decided not to put them in the video ... this spot is ran by boogers
@@pearlofqatar7779 The gut sliders found this wave and was the first to surf it. The stand ups were too scared to surf it. It's always good to spot the kooks though, they are ALWAYS the ones who hate on other crafts.. The are always absolute shit at surfing. Congrats on identifying yourselves.
