Love “the park”. Despite the hordes, it’s one of the most special places in the state. Nice to see a technical climb btw! Not for me, but I always enjoy watching haha.

VS: "fuck yeah" Nick: "We're not at the top" VS: "I know" Me: that's the most Colorado thing I've heard this week.

Did the Petit Grepon and every Alpine climb in RMNP seems to be threatening storms by late day. Get up and off before its to late. We rapped off the back of the Petit Grepon and scrambled down pretty much the way you guys did. thanks for the Vid!

Just wow. I know the camera tends to exaggerate things a bit, but that was really intense just to watch! And I know removing protection while in an exposed situation is no joke. I say give yourself a hearty pat on the back for this one!

You guys are inspiring. I’ve been gym climbing for a while and have hiked a few mountains around the us but nowhere near this level of technical terrain. This makes me want to push myself to more foreign terrain slowly.

It’s only 5.5-5.6 depending on what variation. The only 5.7 is the South Prow on the other side which is over 100 meters longer. You can also rappel on a single 70m rope. It’s about 3 or 4 rappels if I remember right. It’s a pretty short day for rmnp standards
@TheSubieFan
@TheSubieFan 2 года назад
This looks pretty solo able is there a decent walk off?
@lukeaurand5722
@lukeaurand5722 2 года назад
@@TheSubieFan No but you could down climb at 5.4, it’s pretty vertical but juggy. There’s a lot of detached rock on north ridge so I’d just pay extra attention on a solo. I’m sure many people have done it
@georgesheffield1580

Still a classic and spectacular climb . Do it classical in mountaineering boots . No pitons or gold line though .

Wow....I'm no climber, so at least I won't have to do that! LOL. Question for the community: Are the carabiners already in the wall to hook into? Or did you have to hammer them in or something? Cheers!
@jakollee
@jakollee 2 года назад
Pretty sure there's no permanent fixed protection on this route; the lead climber places protection (cams, nuts, hexes, etc.) in cracks and spaces in the rock, and the second climber removes each piece of protection as he reaches it. I think the days of hammering pitons into the rock are long gone! VS, please correct me if I'm off base.
@TheVirtualSherpa
@TheVirtualSherpa 2 года назад
100% correct. There are some pieces in the wall for the rappel but looking at them, they are many years old and not always to be trusted. For the climb though - the above comment is 100% correct.

Great vid btw... Quick question: You said 3 repels? Where did you go (and which direction) is the first repel? Thank you!!
@TheVirtualSherpa
@TheVirtualSherpa 2 года назад
Rap starts to the left of where you climb - aka summit - then head down the left side. You should find a station fairly easily. 3 aren’t 100% necessary depending on your comfort with down climbing

You can rappel it with a single 70 meter rope but it comes out to 4 rappels I believe. All stations are bolted other than one. Idk why you would need to sling a rock unless you were bailing off of the north ridge
