@@magnetoonproductions9541 at first yeah. But he realized he was wrong. He said “I didn’t know what I had until I lost it” that’s a lesson many people learn
@@brianpratts He did all of this for pretending to kill a shark, but he took credit for something that he didn’t do and the white lie made him something he’s not
This is exactly what happens when you're pretending to be something your're not. When you become rich and famous by taking credit for something you didn't do, it soon turns into complete guilt because living a lie is no way for anybody to live and shows it downsides. Also, this scene shows a powerful message that being rich and famous isn't really worth of getting respect and how it's not always a good thing. Oscar totally realized how selfish he has been and how much his lie has affected him, and he also totally regrets for hurting Angie so much after she found out about his lie and completely understands that he could no longer live a lie since he saw how much harm it caused.
@@aliyahavery31 yeah. I see popularity as a curse. Like right after I saw I didn't get much attention from " The cool kids " I realized this isn't worth it.
@@SolBin-b4m Mmm-hmm. It happens in real-life, and it's just like how Oscar becoming the Sharkslayer is a curse right after he lied to everybody and realize how much his lie has affected him.
Back then, Shark Tale was considered to be the absolute worst among DreamWorks Animation for how cliché and corporate it utilize pop cultural references for a quick cash grab in Hollywood's Standards, most would even argue that it's a rip off to Disney/Pixar's Finding Nemo, but after rewatching this film almost 2 decades later, the core message behind the story is a lot more relevant than what viewers gave credit from it's negative reception. In modern society, we are seeing more exploitation of facade going on both in the music and Film Industry. The movie may not have aged well in terms of quality, but truth be told, the narrative was actually ahead of its time.
This scene is always sad too see Oscar sad about how he feels like he wanted to be a somebody, but lied about how he was a shark slayer and wanted to be recognized I feel sorry for him I almost feel the same way especially about a woman how I feel about her. This movie brings me back memories watching this when I was 11 years old, and as I get older I still get emotional to this song. 😥
I feel very emotional to this song too. All Oscar wanted to be was a somebody and gain respect from others, and all he wanted to be was special, but he never got the chance to notice that he was a somebody and was already getting respect because he had Angie as his best friend for a very long time which he valued very much, and he didn't got the chance that he was already special in his own way since everybody is already special in their own way. Oh, and by the way, when Oscar realized the consequences of his lie and how it affected him as well as the ones he cared about such as Angie, he began to realize his mistakes and the error of his ways, and he also realized that he did had a great life before he told everybody his great white lie. Oscar began to miss his old life after he realized how much harm his lie caused and the person he had became, and he resents his new lifestyle as the Sharkslayer which is a dishonest life and is no way for anybody to live.
Don't ever think that everything wasn't good enough for you in your life. Accept who are as person that has real friends that care about you for you, not because your rich. The worst thing that can happen to you when your like oscar here in this video, is to lose your friends and or love ones. Be proud of who you are no matter what.
Biggest lesson in the movie, do not lie. One lie can start to grow even more especially pretending something you’re not. Oscar earned fame, money, a fancy apartment and got what he always wanted and being a “somebody” but earned it for something he did not take credit for. In the end, he realized his mistake when Angie explained the con Celebrity he is and earned his success with one lie when it all started with Oscar saying he killed a shark when it was an anchor that killed him in which he is known as the Shark Slayer. Wish they still make movies like this.
Me too, and I think Oscar is one of the most realistic DreamWorks protagonists and he really learned the hard way when Angie called him out as a con-artist and how he has earned his money and fame by telling a lie which causes more harm than good.
Guess what, Brit? I work at a nursery school now and one of the babies name is Oscar! Do you want to have a baby brother named Oscar or are you just happy with your family?
Oscar wanted to be a somebody, but he had to lie to get it. He befriended Lenny and Angie discovered the lie. Oscar and Lenny made a huge fight through the city with Oscar emerging victorious. But the weight of Oscar’s fame also hit his ego until Angie stated she loved Oscar when he was nobody. When she pointed out that he was a joke, everything soon began to click with Oscar. His swim through the city, sighing in shame while seeing his face plastered on every advertising board made him realize that he really was living a lie. He’s trying to be someone that he’s not and realized what he had before the lie. It was a sad moment for him. He realized that he was better in his old life. He was still a Nobody.
Yes, it was a really sad moment for Oscar when he realized how much his lie has affected him and reflect on his selfishness, and in my own opinion, Oscar really had a very good character development since it does happen in real-life if somebody is pretending to be something that they're not and took credit for something they didn't do in order to be respected and be special, and they soon realize it will become complete guilt and nothing good would come of it.
@@ela94-rockz10 Well, actually, after he saw how much harm his lie caused and hurt the ones he cared about, he learned to let go of his insecurities and accept himself for who he is, and he learned that being rich and famous isn't really about being a somebody after all and it's about being yourself and having friends who really like you for who you are.
Damn, as a kid i loved this movie. I used to get caught up in feels as if i could relate to Oscar even though i was like 4 at the time and barely talked to girls.
Funnily enough lying about killing a shark wasn't the worst thing Oscar did. But he does redeem himself towards end of the movie by actually fighting a real shark and winning and returning the single pearl angie gave him into a pearl Necklace and returning it to her giving it at least 10x its original value
@@katlegoassegaai9235 what is your problem and why are you typing all of your thoughts into three replies? DreamWorks didn’t throw this movie away. Yes, it received mixed reviews, but moviegoers like me loved it and it was a box-office hit that was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards. Though, THE BAD GUYS and PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH are also great movies. And come on, Oscar is a relatable character and the only “hateable” character in the movie is Frankie.
This part made me cry because I thought Angela broke up with Oscar because he cheated on her with Lola but realizing as a grown up that they were just friends and Oscar was always the loser trying to be a winner in a very unpleasant manner but Angela was there for him Oscar was just not paying attention to her he was more focused on the fame and fortune
True, while Oscar does strongly value his friendship with Angie and cares about her so much, he was insecure to notice that she has feelings for him and he has been putting his dreams of fame and fortune before her in order to become a somebody after what he has been through during his childhood without even noticing that he was a somebody already by being himself and was living the good life alread. Despite Oscar's faults, I sympathize him very much as well as I sympathize with Angie and Lenny.
Mmm-hmm, and it's very emotional too. Oscar realized that he can't continue with his Sharkslayer scam anymore since it caused more harm than good, and he also realized that he screwed up big time when he unintentionally allowed himself to be used by gold digger Lola which he would totally regret later.
The truth hurts, but lies are worse. That's what somebody learns when they're pretending to be something that they're not. When Angie called Oscar out for his lies, being a con-artist, and carrying out a huge sham as well as being very disappointed in him for sharing that kiss with Lola on TV while questioning that he would be his girlfriend for a minute if he wasn't the "rich and famous Sharkslayer" during the heated argument, Oscar became very hurt by what she said to him while it was very true, and he learns that the truth hurts but lies are worse since lying has serious consequences and causes more harm than good.
This was the first time Daddy and Mummy heard you sing this my Peachez, and you were only 3years old. And you blew us away. Papa Eddie knew one day you would do something amazing and special, i believe its your voice and talents. Lets help you get there to that dream of one day being on Disney x
That's true. Oscar did left his selfishness get the best of him, and that's because of his sharkslayer scam and how he let his false reputation go to his head. When he sees how much his lie has affected him and how much harm it caused, Oscar realized that he was already special in his own way and that he did had a great life before he lied to everybody in order to become rich and famous. Also, he realized he made a huge mistake and it was a good thing that he decided to make things right.
@@reubenguttenberg7405 And he did tell the truth, and it was a good thing. Also, Oscar has a pretty good character development, and his own character development is something unique.
0:50 Couple things I love most about this part: Oscar happily watching the kids play and remembering how the bottom of the Reef wasn't so bad Mrs. Sanchez being like a parent and telling the kids it's past their bedtime and to go home The kids respecting Mrs. Sanchez and listening to her Crazy Joe, while angry at first, admiring the kids' graffiti on his shell and encouraging them to do it for a living. This movie is underrated I swear 😢
