He actually had a great point about the effect of taking chocolate milk out of schools, because it was being replaced with even less nutritious alternatives. The sharks were short-sighted on this one, even if it wasn't a good investment.

Ironically, the Golden State Warriors use chocolate milk (Klay Thompson did commercials about it too). I love that Mark dismissed the idea of chocolate milk as a recovery drink, yet gets triggered anytime someone mentions the Warriors beating his Mavs. There's a reason endurance athletes don't come close to touching Gatorade before, during or after their events and training, and instead use other products (SIS, Skratch, Flow, and yes... chocolate milk for recovery to rebuild)

The sharks were kind of wrong in this one about the recovery stuff as well. Maybe pro athletes aren’t drinking it post workout but my highschool track coaches always told us to get chocolate milk after a tough workout

Believe it or not. But chocolate milk is actually one of the top rehydration drinks on the market. This is due to the TYPE of protein (casein:whey ratio), carbs, and most underlooked, the sodium:potassium ratio. There’s plenty of research to back this up, even studies not funded from the milk industry found basically identical results. Skim milk and whole milk were the most studied and performed better than Gatorade/powerade, and equal to an oral rehydration packet. It’s funny to see them laugh at them when they’re the uneducated

While I personally do not like the milk at the bottom of the bowl (it's drinkable, but not something i'd enjoy enough to buy separately), he is right to laud to the benefits of milk. I don't know about athletes though (you need electrolytes and special diets to do strenuous exercises). Milk, today, is one of the healthiest drinks you can drink, next to water and tea. Not only is it a great source of calcium--necessary to bone growth and vital for kids to get as much as possible to make their bones super strong and resistant to osteoporosis when they get older--but it also contains many other vitamins like D and A. Almost any danger in milk is negated. Every commercial milk today is required to be pasteurized (undergo heat to kill bacteria) which was a huge factor in raising the average lifespan, making all milk safe for consumption (thank Louis Pasteur who it is named after). Vitamin D is also added (necessary for calcium absorption) to prevent rickets in children.
