Google "preparing Hamachi Kama". Loads of recipes, if you don't have Ponzu, use a light soya Sauce add a squeeze of lemon and a dash of lemon Zest, let it rest for a few minutes to infuse and done. Can add a sprinkling of grated radish and dip in the Soya sauce together with the crisped Fins, chopsticks optional

Hi Robin, not sure currently as haven't done a static in a few years, I'm not interested in that side of things as I don't train etc. I did do one a few years back at 4:38 minutes. Most of my dives are no longer than 1- 1 1/2 minutes

This is amazing! What do you normally do with the sharks? My first spearfishing end up with just 1 moki and a bronze whaler following me back to shore. Luckily moki was in my cray net so in whole shape

The Sharks are not a worry, Just get used to them, If you keep the fish close to you then gernerally don't have any problems. Good idea to have boat or kayak nearby to put fish into or a float boat

Hey Ollie, I notice you go solo on your inflatable and spearfish quite a bit. I’m keen to similar cos I don’t have any mates to free dive with. Do you limit breath holds way within limit to avoid black outs?

Yeah mate I take it pretty easy by myself. Stick to the surface intervals and never push too hard.

Sup Ollie I started to spearfish last year and always a gamble on the day if the water quality is going to be good. Do you know of any key signs that once i get to my location I can see further than the tip of my speargun?

Yes there are a lot of factors. Some areas will always be dirty, it depends on the surrounding landscape and what's underneath the water eg if the bottom. Is sandy or mud, if it gets hit with swell constantly or if it rains a lot and is nearby an estuary or river outlet.. No rain and swell for a few days anywhere will help it clean up. Look on Nasa worldview and add the chloryphill layers to see what is vlena and dirty

No, it's a roller gun. (pre tensioned rubbers) you will see me unload it before I put it in the boat.

Happy to hear that ---I should have rewinded a bit further so I could see you unload it. I see a lot of videos in which spearfishers put loaded spearguns into boats. I guess I can understand if you are paddy hopping and using a multi-band gun, but it still doesn't seem worth the risk.

Are these sharks dangerous ? Can they attack you or bleeding fish in your hand ?

They are rated 10th most dangerous in the world (otherwise known as Copper Sharks). Yes, they can take fish out of your hands but it's very rare. I have not had it happen to me. All in all, not very dangerous, they just get a bit angry when there is a few of them around fighting over a fish.

Sorry Ollie, l just saw that l forgot to add the link.... Type in RU-vid, "Hamachi Kama How to make sushi series." The only thing l would add is grated radish, on the side and then just before eating with the crisp wing and skin take some radish and dip it in the soya sauce and eat together. The lemon juice should be squeezed in to the Light Soya Sauce. If too strong a dash of water to thin it out is perfectly acceptable. Please scale the wings properly, otherwise the tiny scales even crisped in the oven may not be fully edible. Drink with a nice cold beer🍺, white wine or Sake🍶
