They're looking really nice! I think the AWI is a lovely period, not as daunting as painting a Napoleonic force, yet still having lots of colour. Cheers ;)

Thank you Rob. I agree with you, the AWI period is a very colourful period with different uniforms or civilian clothing being worn. Take care 👍

Thanks Jason, yeah I agree it’s always nice to see the results of a project you’ve been working on. It sounds like the club is going to have a great D Day anniversary game.

Well done Lee, great looking units. The Perry sculpts seem to match perfectly with their earlier Foundry work.

Many thanks John. Yeah they fit in well considering how long ago they were sculpted, it was after a trip to Foundry and looking through all their ranges and seeing what compatible with today’s sculpted miniatures. Some of their older ranges are more designed at 25mm scale and would look a little small compared to today’s miniatures, but still great figures. Take care mate 😁👍

Yes , I like the paint style. I have some Spencer Smith figures, the same as Charles Grant used for his early imagination campaigns. The were bought for Peter Youngs ‘Charge! or How to Play Wargames’ back in 1968 painted with Humbrol gloss oil paint. They look like those Crescent Toys model soldiers, hollow cast 54mm , very minimal paint detail. I shall have to get them out of the loft when my son calls to see me as I’ll never climb up there on my own, (I have tried). I’ll bet the oval bases are 20mm to 25mm in depth, but about 10 to 12mm in width. Also a sigh of relief would have the 89 men including the Colonel would collapse in a cloud of sawdust, (they only had the bases they were moulded with so one falls the lot fall 🙁) I’ll have to re-paint them to get my hand in again. The Brigadier would invariably win as he always had 3 centre companies an a grenadier company, each one comprising of 16 men an officer and a sergeant the light coy. Had 12 men plus an officer and a sergeant. His regimental command group comprised of the mounted Colonel. An Ensign, a drummer, and a Sergeant Major. The regiment line & Grenadier companies fifing a short range would roll 8 and 2 thirds D6 if half roll 3 and half roll 4 that is a total of 30 at Short range kills 30 infantry or 15 cavalry as this represents 30 minutes firing. Each man firing 60 rounds to a possible 90 or 100 that kill ratio isn’t out of the way for well drilled and trained infantry who practiced an a regular basis. Practice maces perfect even dry firing so they could do it well even in their sleep.

That sounds like a great collection of miniatures, I remember a friend of mine who helped me get into the hobby back in the 80s (sadly no longer with us), had an army of Spencer Smith miniatures. Ah, Humbrol paints that takes me back, when I started in the hobby, I used to use Humbrol enamels, Frank, the gentleman I spoke of, always used acrylics and was always trying to convince me to swap over, which eventually I did.
