This is a short video about how art school teaches us to sharpen pencils classical atelier style. Pencil: www.amazon.com.... Paper: www.amazon.com.... Thank you so much for watching!
+Ellie Bordiuk -- Must be those glasses you got on, I hear they make one extra curious. I just finished eating so all the blood left my brain, that's my excuse. To think those were 10 minutes that I'll never get back in life. Yesterday I sat for 12 minutes watching rain drops slide down my living room window, not to say that I'm easily amused but at least it was more interesting than this.
+Ellie Bordiuk As for me (apart from the nice shape the pencils shown on the frozen pic b4 you play the video) I think his smooth and charming voice...and of course those lovely hands♥♥♥ too. But its nice at the end the way he shows how to use them after the BOSS METHOD :D
Honestly pissing me off how many people are calling this guy stupid for not just buying a sharpener instead. This form of sharpening is used for art forms like calligraphy and drawing. A sharpener is used for plain essay writing. You get more shading and different line thickness ranges with this kind of method than with a pencil only sharp at the point.
That's how HE sharpens a pencil. Also it's sharpening it, of course it's gonna be the same way as you would a blade or something I mean how else would you do it?
Ok, this is how to sharpen a pencil for artists... That's why there is so much charcoal or graphite sticking out of the end. When you are an artist you are taught to sharpen pencils this way so you have a lot more control of how much material you can put on the paper at once. It really does improve your artistic abilities to hold your pencil the way he does and sharpen it the way he did.
Daniel Ren lol, in my school I'm popular, and it kindof sucks... cause people talk behind my back all the time, and i told a friend I liked a girl, and she FUCKING TOLD *EVERYONE!!!* and then there's some people that thinks that I'm lesbian now... and that's just the tip of the iceberg.. I'm pretty sure *some* of the teachers there don't like me because of it, because I used to wear cat ears to school, and told me I couldn't wear it because it's "A distraction" but then someone less popular (and I know her), STEALING *MY* STYLE, WALKS PAST ME WITH SHITTY LOOKIN' CAT EARS AND I'M LIKE *WTF MR. JAMIE?!* i think they're just being salty because most popular kids in the day bullied other kids and they were probably one of them, but still, being popular ain't that fun...
crazy cat I'm the opposite of popular and have no friends, I cry myself to sleep every night, and I have to see a counselor. I would love to be in your shoes...
*Sharpens pencil for an hour* Me: YES! I can finally use my pencil! *puts pencil on paper* *Pencil snaps* Random guy: AYE who flung this pencil *graphite* at me?,
Types of comments here: -> “I don’t even draw” -> “it’s a shank” -> “tag a Somalian” -> something about school -> “why did I watch a guy sharpen a pencil for 10 minutes”
It's funny how many people here are making fun of the way he is sharpening his pencil....I guess they don't know that the most renowned ateliers and art instructors in the world have their students to sharpen their pencils EXACTLY like that.
You know, I never thought that I'd see this on RU-vid. I've been sharpening all my pencils like this since high school. And so did my brother, he taught me, actually. But I don't use razor blade ike you do, I use a regular retractable cutter. Just snap off 2-3 sections of tips. And what you said is really true, there's something so calming about it. And if you're angry or in a hurry, you can't do it at all. And I also smooth out the wood as much as possible just because I want them to look nice. As smooth as a machine work, that is. People who see this would say either that i'm planning on killing someone or that this is freakishly perfectionist. You get the same thing?
Your way is a hell of a lot safer especially after I cut myself copying this same method and ended up with cellulitis all over my left arm. That's burned and was painful for nearly 2 months and reoccurred twice, not only that but at any point during that time I could easily have developed sepsis because of the cellulitis.
And this is how you talk seductively about sharpening your pencils. Some sensual music in the background, sweet talk and now every pencil in the world wants him to sharpen it. 10/10 would sharpen
when I saw 10 minutes long, I was like "I probably shouldn't be doing this". But then it actually felt like 3 minutes long, I actually enjoyed watching him sharpen it o.o
+Siim Kask That sucks. I hate when that happens. In class someone once dropped my box of about 10 freshly sharpened pencils onto the concrete floor. I was on the other side of the room. Oh that horrible sound of all the pencil tips shattering!
Bradwynn, as you can see, internet is full of "smart" people. Don't worry about that, your videos are great and Im really happy that they are very personal, that you talk about your experience along the videos and not just doing a straight "tutorial". Wish you all the best :)
Hi, you know there are special plastic "knifes" where you can insert a razor blade in order to sharpen the pencils faster and safer. Idk how its called in english but we call it "bisturiu" in Romanian. You should buy one, it isnt expensive. Been working with one all my life.
+ Sheob 多形体 This guy happens to live in a different era from where everyone says oooo that's dangerous, wear a helmet when you're riding a bike, use an exacto knife, don't let your kids walk home alone, don't let them climb trees or go on swings... blah blah blah. I say good on him.
+Bradwynn Jones you could try an exacto knife which has a plastic grip so it's a little safer I guess. I use the same process to lengthen it but I sharpen with sandpaper. I find it quicker and much easier than your method which I used before the atelier recommended me sandpaper.
Tbh, when I was young I saw that my parents used their middle finger to type things in and it sort of stuck with me. I get annoyed when people are like "why are you flipping at that book" when I'm just pointing at the words and reading
here is a link to blades... www.amazon.com/OEMTOOLS-25181-Razor-Blades-Pack/dp/B000CMFJZ2/ref=as_sl_pc_tf_til?tag=drawingjonesc-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=9a1ce483b507a59c93db8858f67b8c69&creativeASIN=B000CMFJZ2
great drawings man, just saw your page, I see you're highlighting the shadows with those bold lines same as Jeff does :) No compaints though, looks so much more kickass this way
I am sitting here watching a ten minute video of a guy showing proper tecnique of sharpening a pencil with a razorblade What the fuck am i doing with my life
+chad912 The point is that it's a unnecessarily lengthy video. A video that forces viewers to skip ahead to enjoy it or to see what the video was offering is a poorly made video
You're so awesome to listen to! "When I'm outside myself" made complete sense. You meant when you're anything other than neutral. Thanks you so much for the video despite being nervous. I've already killed 2 pencils trying to sharpen it because of the long strokes and not using both thumbs. Short strokes are the way to go
+GreifiEclipse no clue what it stands for but it's basically just strangely calming sounds or sights. For me it's cutting balsa wood (I think that's the one for model planes) with an exact-o knife or folding paper
+GreifiEclipse ASMR which stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a phenomenon that usually results in a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin and causes a sense of relaxation. Things that trigger someone's ASMR make them feel, tingly, nice and relaxed. Certain sounds or visuals can trigger ASMR.
ok he made art in this video.. THE FALLING GRAPHITE!! OT LOOKED FRWAKING AMAZING HE SHOULD HAVE JUST KEPT IT AND SPRAYED IT THERE AND SPATTER OTHER COLORS AND STUFF
Your definition of art being a bunch of graphite being sprinkled on a blank sheet of paper offends me. I can vomit and recreate what you just described.
