@@uosdwiSrdewoH not really, I’d say it’s very cultural. I’d guess it probably goes back to post war britain when everything was heavily rationed and if you had a small cut or injury it wasn’t feasible for one to get antiseptic etc. in the US they never had rationing like that so their parents generation probably never “ran it under a cold tap”. Also, I don’t even think they call it a tap! Lol I think they call it a faucet.
@datiger39

@@goldboy150 often times running a wound even semi serious wounds under a running tap water is better than using any antiseptic, depending on the severity but I’ve had major deep slash cuts that were fine just using mild soap around the edges and running the wound under water for 10 mins twice a day
@StudioMod
@StudioMod Год назад
@@datiger39 Yes, soap and warm water come first. Alcohol and peroxide are only necessary if you think the wound is severely infected or prone to reinfection. The reason for this is alcohol and peroxide will prevent healing by drying out the wound and this will result in bad scarring, which also keeps the wound open and prone to getting infected later. Water also flushes out any substances much better than a bit of alcohol. Unless you have 6 bottles of alcohol to continuous run your wound under, water is essentially the best way to flush a wound. A touch of alcohol at the end and a dressing is the best way to close it up. Often wounds are left open so the remaining infection can push its way out. Dressings are usually better than stitching up a wound if the bleeding is controlled, but this will also leave worse scarring. There is ointment to counteract this, however.

Shaun of the Dead is a much more endearing and true to the source love letter to zombie fiction than Zack Snyder's remake of Dawn of the Dead. The scene where Harry Potter-looking jerk guy gets his guts ripped out is a direct homage to the death of Captain Rhodes from Day of the Dead.
@iamaronman

I feel like it rides the line between a spoof/parody and a homage so smoothly, and it's overall just a great movie, people have a hard time classifying what exactly these movies are. Which I think just shows even more how perfect this trilogy is, no real genre, just great art.

The real connective tissue of the Cornetto Trilogy is that they are all genre parodies, and the same basic creative team and some of the core cast. This one is obviously horror, and it corresponds to the strawberry flavor for the red. I'll let the rest of it be a surprise. I agree with the consensus that Hot Fuzz, the next one, is the best of the series, but I will diverge from people who say the last one is the weakest. Simone gave praise to Pegg's performance in this, but I think The World's End might be his best acting work of all. It is a bit rougher around the edges -- I think they had busier careers and thus had less time to polish and perfect it, and people seem perplexed by the ending (the pieces are all there, the execution could be clearer), but I think it's better than it gets credit for.

The trilogy of films is actually called Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy. At first it was a joke, but all three films have themes in common. The name originates from a joke during the promotion of Hot Fuzz. Wright had written in Cornetto ice cream as a hangover cure for Frost's character in Shaun of the Dead, based on his own experiences. At the after party for the film, they received free Cornetto ice creams so Wright and Pegg decided to include another reference to Cornetto in their next film in a failed attempt to get more free ice cream. In Hot Fuzz, Wright included a couple of brief throwaway scenes that referred to the Cornetto joke in Shaun. On the promotional tour of Hot Fuzz during production of The World's End, one interviewer pointed out the use of Cornetto in the first two films, and Wright jokingly said that they represent a trilogy comparable to Krzysztof Kieślowski's Three Colours film trilogy.

The next movie in the trilogy, Hot Fuzz, is not only my favorite in the trilogy, I believe it to be a perfect movie. Is it the best movie ever? No. BUT - every line, every shot, absolutely everything in that movie is perfect for what it is.
@uosdwiSrdewoH
@uosdwiSrdewoH 2 года назад
I appreciate someone actually qualifying their opinion. World's End is actually my favourite and in my opinion is the best movie of the trilogy by some way because it's characters feel genuine and it's story and themes are incredibly well done. It'd be a very serious movie due to it's subject matter if it weren't placed in the genre it is and heightened just enough. It's a tough line to walk but like always Edgar Wright makes it look effortless. None of this is to say that Hot Fuzz isn't an incredibly well made and hilarious movie because it is. Given what the movie sets out to do it achieves it in spectacular fashion. It's the perfect parody of the genre while also being a better than average example of the genre. It just never feels like it takes place in any discernable reality. A lot of the characters are more character types that work in this setting and no other. Like Shaun of The Dead, World's End has something to say about the world and it's inhabitants. It's not really the case for Hot Fuzz. Apart from Pegg and Frost none of the other characters have any kind of character arc. They don't change because of any story related reasons. They change because at that point in the story they need to be doing something that is completely contradictory to everything they've said and done. The script needs them to be there to help Angel so despite them basically ignoring everything else that's happened in the movie and all the deaths up to that point they're now all in on what's going on with no motivating reason for doing so.

@uosdwiSrdewoH 2 года назад
@@JeffKelly03 That's completely on purpose. They don't pick movies out of a hat. There's a very good reason why everyone seems to watch the same movies. Money. They check what's trending popular for the algorithm to make sure the video gets in front of as many people as possible. The fact that most of them also have patreon pages is quite frustrating. There's a real opportunity to watch something that wasn't a massive hit or has since gained a loyal cult following and maybe introduce something new to audiences. I like Ashley as a person and this isn't unique to her. Once reactors get popular, assuming they weren't doing this from the start because some do, it sometime feels like they're pandering to their audience. A lot of over the top reactions that are playing to the crowd. They also make sure to mention numerous times how little knowledge they have about the movie which is going a bit too far. We don't watch movies in a vacuum. We go because they sound interesting or have someone we like in them. So why do these channels go out of their way to tell you they're completely ignorant heading into what they're about to watch. Ashleigh just watched Galaxy Quest, for example. It can work on it's own but if you have a better understanding of the culture surrounding Trek and the fandom it's that much better and if anyone had bothered to do a quick search they could spend a few minutes seeing what it's all about so the movie will be that much better. Instead there ends up being more confusion about what's going on. For me, a reaction channel should have the feeling of sitting with your friends and checking out a movie you've all heard about but just never got around to watching. I even have a perfect real world example. Back when Kiss Kiss Bang Bang came out I saw it and loved it but nobody else I knew went to see it. So once it was out on DVD I set up a movie night and watched them all see a brilliant movie for the first time. It was so much fun hearing everyone chat through the movie. We'd talked about it prior to watching so they knew what to expect and were able to appreciate the nuance of the film more. That's how it should be. I do like the chat a little for some movies on this channel which is why I come back every so often. But I couldn't help but notice that their patreon let's you vote on which movie to watch and see full length commentaries but that's very basic. There isn't any special patreon fan way to talk about the movies with them and get more of what they thought. Also as far as I can tell they never reply to anyone in the comment section. There's the occasional like but that's it. So why is their patreon so pricey compared to others who chat i the comments and have their own discord to get in on so you can actually talk to the people making the videos. They are completely isolated from their audience and it doesn't sit well. I'm sure they're nice people but this disconnect between them and their audience is a little bizarre. Is this purely a money gig. If they were really interested in movies why not create a place for discussion?

0:28 the Cornet is nearly the same as a trumpet except for a slightly different tone due to having a more cone shaped tube. It's derived from the Latin 'cornu', meaning horn or antler. Cornetto means little horn in Italian and it makes sense that you'd call an ice cream cone that because it looks like a little horn.

It is a brass instrument in the trumpet family. The ice cream is basically the British name for Nestle Drumsticks, which as a Canacian should know the french name is Coronette.

The first _The Return of the Living Dead_ is also hilarious/terrifying (but considerably more nihilistic than _Shaun)._ It was the first, I think, to give us Quick Zombies, and break other Romero Rules--and at least one religious trope, as it presents a mortifying suggestion about death itself. Highly recommended!

Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The Worlds End are only a trilogy insofar as they have similar themes, visuals and comedic stylings and are all centred on the team up of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as well as a conga line of big British TV and film actors. The characters and stories are totally unrelated to each other. Hot Fuzz is one of my all-time favourite films, looking forward to you seeing it.

Cornetto trilogy - red in this to resemble blood. Black/brown to resemble cops in hot Fuzz. Green to resemble Aliens in the world's end. It's a "spoof" of sorts, more of a homage to the "of the dead" Romero series Plus, in dvd extras/comics it shows you how Ed wasn't ripped apart, how Diane survived and the whole Shaun getting away but not totally thing

With the Cornetto Trilogy you have to pay close attention to the dialogue and things that are happening in the background because a lot of it comes back around later in the movies, for example when Ed tells Shaun that they'll start the day with Bloody Mary's in the morning and the first zombie they meet the following morning is a woman named Mary.

Fun Fact: Ed describes the entire movie during the breakup talk! The day begins with them meeting Mary who’s bloody, they have a “bite at the Kings Head” when Phillip is bitten, then “a couple at the little princess” is Shaun and Ed saving Liz and her friends who are a couple, then they literally stagger back to the Winchester, then they have “shots” which is them shooting at zombies!

I'm sure you've already gathered these from the wealth of comments, but Edgar Wright's films are FILLED TO THE BRIM with cameos and references to the British comedy scene of the late 90's and 2000's. Essentially in England, the world of radio, film and TV comedy comes in generations and you'll see essentially the same group of actors and comedians working on each others projects across an entire era. The stars of SHAUN OF THE DEAD and the Cornetto Trilogy all represent one particular generation as they moved from radio to TV to feature film (and were then later replaced by a new generation). This is best exemplified by the "alternate group" led by Yvonne who starred alongside Simon Pegg in Edgar Wright's hit TV show "SPACED". "SPACED" was a cult hit that is basically identical in humour, style and complex heavy-production-value based comedy seen in the CORNETTO TRILOGY, except shot on video and about a comic book geek trying to live in a flat with a bunch of weirdos (because 90's). Nick Frost (Ed) played a very different kind of character on it as well. But then you'll see all of these actors in other shows e.g. Peter Serafinowicz (Pete) (trivia: he also was the voice of Darth Maul) created two seasons of a bizarre fake 1970's science show called LOOK AROUND YOU which even the director Edgar Wright turns up as an actor and also stars the now multi-Oscar-winner Olivia Coleman (who started her career as a comedian). Nearly all of these actors also turn up in the hit TV show BLACK BOOKS (Pegg plays an amazing villain and of course the show famously stars Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey who also appeared in SPACED). And there's loads more TV shows, radio shows and films in which this whole generation of creatives work with each other. It's kind of what makes English comedy so much fun is that while the scene gets heavily dominated by a fixed pantheon of mega-stars every ten years, the work they produce because they constantly work with each other (often in publicly funded content) is of a calibre that dwarfs a lot of comedy produced elsewhere. It's like the Golden Era of SNL / Second City, but running continuously for 40 years without any sign of slowing down. In the 70's it was basically the cast of Monty Python and the Two Ronnies and a few others. In the 80's it was Rowan Atkinson (before Mr Bean), Hugh Laurie (House M.D), Stephen Fry, Emma Thompson (yes THAT Emma Thompson, she started out doing sketch comedy) and the cast of THE YOUNG ONES. In the 2010's it was the generation that worked on shows like THE MIGHTY BOOSH, THE IT CROWD and GARTH MARENGHI'S DARK PLACE (the biggest breakout star is probably Matt Berry who is on WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS). Sadly I don't live in the UK so I'm out of touch with who the up-and-coming generation of stars are at the moment. Something I should look into actually! I know you guys have enough on your viewing plate, but if you want to get into British TV that exemplifies this "generational team effort" culture, you can't go wrong with BLACKADDER (seasons 2-4), the two seasons of LOOK AROUND YOU (season 1 is a series of shorts, 2 is a full half hour) and all three seasons of BLACK BOOKS. You'll be amazed at the famous faces who dominate American film and TV doing their best comedic work.

Tso people with a common interest (film), but different in other ways. As David is drawn out the window by the Z's, George was laughing so hard, but Simone was terrified and disgusted. Great to watch, and probably the reason why you are so good as reactors! This film is a textbook for foreshadowing - some of which you caught - the shambling crowd during the titles and Shean saying "You're dead" to the kid in the street, but there are so many more (like "You've got red on you" and "...end up living in a shed"), best caught on the second or third viewing. Definitely a classic. Now watch the other 2 Cornetto films!

FYI both Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright were huge fans of George R Romero and his original Zombie Trilogy (Night Dawn and Day Of The Dead). That's where this movie came from. And they re-teamed to make Hot Fuzz and The World's End so they called their trio of movies the Cornetto Trilogy. THe only unifying element is a scene in each movie where someone eats a small Ice Cream cone (Cornetto). Blink and you miss it.
