I have been tortured all my life by judgemental, cruel people. But it helps me to remember that the unkind treatment did not come from everyone. Now that I am older, it finally dawned on me that if someone expresses that they don't like something about me, then I can use that information to know to stay away from that person. For me, people like that are bad association to be avoided. It is so much harder for children in the school system. I still have emotional scars from when I was a child. I have raised 5 children of my own and it took me until children 4 and 5 to have the bravery to homeschool them. It was the BEST decision ever. I was able to encourage them and keep them away from bad associates. They are the happiest of my adult children and the least emotionally scarred.

It's so wonderful that you could do this for your children. The institutional "education system" is so unfortunate for so many. It is a systematic abuse structure, a corporate human wealth extraction process. Destructive in its full conception: please read about John Dewey and how modern education system was conceptualized, designed, and intended to be destructive on many levels. Maybe you are already aware.

You look amazing clean shaven, it changes the focus from dreadlock look to looking at your eyes, which are stunning. Congratulations on your bravery and willingness to experience change. Watching to help my 35 year old Son who has a potential aspie girlfriend

I understand a little bit, I think. I remember when I cut my hair short (from long) when I was in fourth grade, and then again when I was 16 or so, and again at 19. In between it always grew really long. Then in -97 after coming home from India, I shaved my head, like you - and loved it for a while. Then it grew into dreads, and wow it was painful the first time I took them off... because I was pregnant and moved back to my hometown (stopped drugs and all that shit). I saved them (!), and a couple of years later, I sewed them back in - had my new dreads made at a hairdresser, and then I used needle and thread. I also used to put little things in my hair, like pearls or feathers. Then, I gave birth to my sevond child, with huge drads on my head, and then while breastfeeding, one night I got up and chopped all off. I’ve had them on and off through the years, but I have always kept them haha. And three years ago I actually had them in an art exhibition. They are part of my history, and of my identity. I went through so much pain with them on my head. I even self-published a small book called Dread locK. Where I try and organize my trauma a bit. Right now I have three dreads, similar to the hairstyle you just cut off in the video (which is now five years ago)... but with a fringe. I was going to cut them off half a year ago, but a friend stopped me. I like have bits on the sides and at the back, shaved... Powerful thing to show the world! Well done💗

I'm sure you felt and looked like a different person on the outside, but I'm also sure you were still the person your friends and family loved on the inside. I shaved my head once about ten years ago. It felt so cool and so weird, but I loved it for a while, and I found out that no one treated me any differently except for the initial shock, which didn't last long and all was back to normal. It grew back a lot faster than I expected, too. The experience was totally worth it.
