Compilation of Shaw Bros. Shaolin kungfu movies highlighting the battles between Shaolin, the Qing Court, the Wutang Clan and the spirit of brotherhood.
I'm going to make a list of the films in this video: Five Shaolin Masters Executioners from Shaolin Disciples of Shaolin Heroes Two Men from the Monastery Shaolin Prince Shaolin Martial Arts 36th Chamber of Shaolin Two Champions of Shaolin Disciples of the 36th chamber If I missed any tell me!
+Bizarro #1 JB Shaolin Temple Shaolin Avengers Shaolin Rescuers Shaolin Intruders Crazy Shaolin Disciples Boxer Rebellion Rebel Intruders I didn't use Men From the Monastery and a few others for different reasons.
+Bizarro #1 JB For that one, the action wasn't as polished and the characters were better played in Shaolin Avengers. From what I've heard, Hung Hsi Kuan was really MUCH older than Fang Shih Yu so I only used the older looking Hung Hsi Kuan (vs Bai Mei).
We had a fantastic moments in the year of 1980-1990s. Every Hongkong made action movie used to release in our local cinema hall. 2 movies on 1 ticket. I liked to attend @ the matinee show with my friends. Time passes but memory prevails 😭😭😭...May those days memories remain filled in the air forever... Dhaka, Bangladesh...
Very cool Javed, sorry I'm late replying. I had to approve your comment from spam. It was very much the same in the US... 2 movies on 1 ticket and sometimes 3. Hah, I wasn't born yet, but much of my older family spent the weekends watching these.
Excellent Catalog of vintage Shaw Brothers!!! I'm a Die Hard Collector myself!!!!! I even draw Vintage Shaw Brothers posters in My own style with the Subtitles to get that Raw feel, that you rarely see today!!!
Thanks Dave, I want to do a few Shaw illustrations at some point in the future... haven't decided on what (I'm all digital). I checked out your Wu-Visions 3... definitely cool stuff. GZA's Liquid Swords was my 1st real introduction to Wu-Tang. On the block, we had a home-made ball court with a airbrushed Method Man (All I Need Rmx video) backboard. That Wu spirit will always live on.
Ha,ha.Excellent Hrangue..I agree, prior to Wu Tang there was nothing but the Usual Stuff out there, which wasn't too Bad,but Wu Tang were different because they Brought a Ancient Culture to the Hip Hop masses that everybody thought was Brand new..that's why there legacy lasted longer then everything else out there.!!!
They brought something that can never be replicated. There was the one dude stealing Ghostface's style... but as a group. That's it. That's what legends look like... that's what legends sound like. Gold? Bring Da Ruckus!? Sandman!? 4th Chamber? Heaven and Hell? The list goes on... nobody can match their body of work. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mw1yBxCaDGg.html
So true Hrangue..I have a 5 Deadly Venoms for you to see,if you have the time..Check it out on my first Video..''DAVID RADICALS CINEMA ART",and let me know what you think!!!
I appreciate that Keisha, this my favorite vid/compilation of them all. My whole family watched these growing up. We all have a warm spot somewhere for Shaolin.
Director Chang cheh was a big Force at Shaw brother's studios.with his choice of the best Kung Fu stars 😀😀😀 David Chiang,Ti lung ,Chen kuan tai, the late Fu sheng ,chi kuan Chung, and later on the Venom gang ,rip director Chang cheh,Fu sheng Chiang sheng , and rip the Shaw brothers Run Run Shaw, Runme Shaw
Didn't think I could watch the whole video it's been on my playlist for awhile but only now I managed to watch the whole thing.Amazing scenes from an amazing list of Shawbrothers films. Most of these made it to New York and Philly theaters,I didn see a selected few but a real treat to watch.
+Jason Knox Disciples of Shaolin (The Invincible One) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9wRMqd6f2a8.html I think it's Fu Sheng's best performance... not action-wise but acting.
Good collection some of my favourite fights are here. I recognise 2:52 but don't remember the name. Can someone help? Also 28:06 I haven't seen that one any can someone Id?
Ordered them straight from Hong Kong, but it doesn't look like the site is around anymore. At the time, I had an all-region DVD player (that was 10 years ago) and that was the only way to get them (import). Now I just switch all my devices to region 3. They've since come out with better options, but a lot of the rare titles (the majority) are hard to find. You can try Best Buy, Amazon, and a site called Yesasia.com (has a better selection). Be careful about getting the right region.
Thanks these fellas are the quintessential shaolin disciples I can't think of anyone who touches them. Another fine arrangement my friend well done and much appreciated.
+Jason Knox Thanks Jason, I think Chi Kuan Chun was the best Shaolin disciple (layman) and Gordon Liu was the best monk. Definitely check out that movie. You'll recognize the intro...
You did an awesome job putting this together! Thank you very much. The memories this evokes within me regarding watching these movies in the theaters back in the 70's is incredible. Shaw Brothers was the best!
Thanks Devon, check out all of my vids... but if you like Shaolin in particular you can catch the prequel to this one here. odysee.com/@Hrangue:b/Why-Can't-We-Defeat-Shaolin-Temple----Hrangue:c It was deleted by youtube.
nice editing job compiling all that together! Crazy Shaolin Disciples is a SB movie so many people seem to have slept on just because the movie poster (and DVD cover) is cartoony, with big heads. Like the old saying goes: "never judge a book by its cover".
Thanks Tommy... that movie in particular is one for the real hardcore fans. It just has so much filler in between the good moments. It's definitely more in the Lau Kar Leung style of goofiness and camaraderie. It's one of those "before the buzzer" ('86) anything goes movies. Otherwise, people aren't missing too much.
The beauty of all these guys, are the characters they play. Nobody will ever touch Fu Sheng and Wang Lung Wei as Fang Hsiyu and Ma Fuyi. They took those parts beyond the script. This is a masterpiece !!!!!
I have seen hundreds of these flicks going back to 42st in 1978-1981 I know all of these flicks except 4:27 I know the actor lo Lieh & the other dude but can't name this flick I'm sure it more than one title anyone know it's name.
1# Excutioner of Shoalin 2# fist of the white lotus 3# Shoalin Abbott Lo Lieh... the shoalin priest David Chiang..... if you haven't seen it you gotta check it out..
A compilation of my favorite ❤ movies of all-time. Still cry 😢 from the last scenes in Shaolin Temple aka Death Chamber aka...you get the picture. Scream when Brother Li falls down the hill after killing Beardy.
My Advice for first Time Martial Art Movie Collectors.?!!!!..Buy Everything that is either listed under SHAOLIN TEMPLE or VENOMS Films under the SHAW BROTHERS Label...You Can't Lose!!!!
Word watching as a kid I was always in awe but after watching again after becoming a man and realizing how political a lot of these movies were showed how many dimensions was poppin off, trail blazers indeed
