Lots of "brilliant" reviewers here comparing this rendition to the original. Wow. You guys are sooooo smart. It isn't a comparison; and it wasn't the best song in the show for sure. But if you were in the audience, which I just was in Portland OR, this was a small part of a very intimate evening with a couple of the best singer-songwriters ever. And just a little extra fun for them to do a number of covers plus their own songs too. Like being in their living room, and we're sharing the love, and no one cares to compare anything to anything. Love is love.
Despite the sonic wonder of a cell phone recording, this sounds like it was a helluva performance. Two great songwriters who are good friends, playing a song they both love. When people like this do a cover it can be goosebumps stuff. A cell phone is a poor transducer in such circumstances.
Enjoy the back and forth between songs from these two sister friends...and they can sing so well together too. Can't wait till they are back out on the road together again.

I do suppose it's how you look at it I didn't think Colvin was any different than normal and we all know that Mary is rebounding after a few problems 2 fine artists with 2 fine albums doing the rounds I say them in Dublin in November and they were great maybe it's because Mary did live here for few years but it was she who did nearly all the banter all in good fun great gig
Love them both, but not their version of this song. Remember this when I was 13 years old from the Bridge Over Troubled Waters project. S&G are a hard act to follow on this one.
With the best will in the world, how long does it take to tune a guitar? And she did it at this length between every song in London....and the carefully well rehearsed ad libs were the same. Ah well, when the music eventually starts, it's still worth it!
I absolutely love this song and like the arrangement in this performance. Never liked the original S&G album version due to overproduction, but any live S&G performance or acoustic cover by another artist that I have heard does it justice. And as far as guitar tuning, many Joni Mitchell & Led Zeppelin songs have strangely-tuned guitars to give a unique sound.
Jon Rootellis yea... nothing better than the original...well, the version on the Live DVD Old Friends May be my FAV....this one is way down on the comparison ladder
Something about the harmony isn't right. Is the lower part TOO LOW or is it just out of balance? (Needs the upper part to be stronger. The shaping of phrases is nice though.....
thumbs down, there's at least half a dozen covers out on youtube much better than this one including Everything But the Girl and Pigpen. The only part of this cover which really sounds good is when the two of them harmonize.
