I dont understand why he isnt more famous than he is. No one has the combination of technical skill, charisma, and charm as Shawn. He is the total package.
Amazing performance sir. Very inspiring. It's pretty easy for some people to critique magicians from an on camera performance, it is a whole other world fooling and entertaining a crowd like that. Thank you for all the hard work you put in.
I saw you make a move, when you put your hand in your pocket! Having said that, and the idea that I saw a move, that I shouldnt have... I HAVE NO IDEA, how you got the GODDAMN DECK into the GODDAMN BALOON...so you sir FOOLED ME!
Two special things i see in him 1. His amazing performance. ❤ 2. Even though he's busy, he some how manage to leave regular replies to his fans. Hats off sir.
Shawn - it's your job, and you're the best at it. Your personality is the icing on the most talented magic cake in the world. Thank you for what you do.
Shawn you are my faviorte magician, but not because you do cool tricks but because you can create such a great atmosphere with your attitiude. Something I can only aspire to.
I saw the 2 most important part of the routine. But hey, its his job. So, NO, i wont tell it. He will always be one of the most entertaining magicians ive seen.
Thoroughly enjoy your performances and have the utmost respect for not just your talent but the hard work you’ve obviously put into making tricks like this one work. Even those of us that can catch a few moves just because we know what to look for, I love watching you because you make it look so seamless. Brilliant.
Great effect! It is human to tell others you know how this is done. Its called fame. Resist. Just let others enjoy the mystery. Look at Sean's picture, shush up and let him enjoy the fame he deserves. Its his video and talent we came to see commenters. This is an awesome effect. Please keep it that way. Having said that I think pixies are involved.
You entertained people for such a long time and you will keep entertaining them as long as you keep doing such beautiful performances!! Very inspiring ...
i always appreciate how Shawn regularly replies to comments on RU-vid because most "famous" people in general (in their respective field, i guess -- in this case, magicians) don't have the time to post any responses at all but Shawn somehow manages to find a way to make time for his viewers
I love your style and can usually never tell how you did it but this one is very easy to spot! Got it on the first viewing haha. Keep up the good work though hope you're in Chicago soon!
i wish you had a weekly/daily series of you just doing magic tricks in front of people like this. Maybe some videos of you explaining tricks or the mind of magicians. Would be very cool! I loved your performance
Puts her card in the 2nd position, then when he says "it's not on the top", he puts the top card in the middle of the deck, making her signed card the new top card. He then palms it, put it in his coat pocket, and after the deck is "shuffling" inside the balloon he reaches back into the same pocket as before, takes out her card, and reveals it from "inside" the balloon
@@MavisRileyJunior The more people who know how its done, the more people who fall in love with the art, hopefully expanding the community and pushing people to make even greater tricks :)
I saw how the trick, with the card seemingly coming out of the balloon, was done, but I'm still trying to figure out exactly how he inserted the deck into the balloon.
He's damn good at his job! ;) I didn't see it the first time, but after your comment I went back and looked again. Had to watch it twice, at reduced speed. to even catch a glimpse. He's much better than merely "good".
Yskiller so casual. And his verbal misdirection is amazingly subtle. "How many cards do you think there are?" Audience focuses on trying to guess how many cards there are, not watching for the pass. Beautiful
For those people being there surrounding shawn from all angles, now i know why you are a world champion and i am positive that there is no magician tthat dares to perform HG , that surrounded , nbest of luck mister farquah From algeria ^^
Really great performance Shawn. It'd be really nice if you'd share the names of any effects that can be purchased for those of us whom are aspiring magicians. I don't know if there's a suitably private medium to do so though!
I watched the magic show at the P.N.E. this year and although I couldn't see what was going on clearly since my eyesight is really bad and I don't have glasses, I laughed a lot and so did my aunt! A favourite moment were when you ate a balloon and said "I'm gonna give you a dog, but not just any dog. I'm gonna make you a *shih tzu* " XD *COUGH* I'm mature, I swear \(•-•)/ Saw the cards in a balloon trick on youtube before and I was like "He probably has the balloon wrapped around the cards to make it look like they're in the balloon." until you blew the balloon....I still have no idea how and I've seen this trick before! Everyone was able to tell Penn wasn't faking his anger when you fooled him.. Trying to give obvious hints to my mom that I wanna watch it again(she has 2 extra PNE passes and doesn't wanna go but I shall try my best to convince her to go with me! The magic show is too awesome to only watch once!) My mom: How was the magic show? Me: It was good but I couldn't see anything cause I didn't get there til 7:28 so all the front seats were taken and it was so dark in there. Plus, you know how bad my eyesight is. The only time I understood what was going on was when they spoke. My mom: Well I have extra tickets and no one wants them so you can have it. Just go earlier Me: But there's 2 and it's not fun going by yourself. I'd go with my sister but she's always busy. Can't waste tickets *COUGH* My mom: •-• Me: ಠ_ಠ Anyways...a moment without my weirdness, thank you for doing what you do:D! Laughter always cheers me up no matter the situation I'm in
RU-vid does this weird thing where it chooses whether or not it should send me notifications so if I don't reply to/ like your reply(if you do choose to) then... DAMMIT RU-vid
Hope you come back and get better seats. We have shows until Sept 4th... and with 10,000 seats there just might be one closer. Thanks for coming and for your nice comments.
Random question: Do you ever get bored or tired of doing the same tricks every night or is it slightly different each night when you perform at the PNE?
I totally know how you did the trick once she writes on the card. Not sure how you forced the card on top of the deck though. The balloon trick was surreal until I found out how it is done. Could you use a sleight of hand harder to notice(for the audience) for this trick? The first part of the signed card that is.
you idiots should understand the fun in the comment, its just a really good combination of magician and jacket, he didnt even mention the tricks had anything to do, you should stop trying to show off you know how the trick was done.
So under rated. World champion magician and fooled Penn and Teller twice and a million other contributions to Magic persistently. Yet people don't know of him, that bugs me.
Didn't catch the initial finding of the 8, 24 cards in. Didn't catch the deck getting "into" the balloon but first they were face down, then face up as he deflated the balloon on top of the deck but something happened there when he "flipped" them. When he took the signed 8 from her and put it in the deck, it went in second from the top. When he showed the top card not being the 8, it went into the middle of the deck and then he showed the bottom card. The 8 then went from the top of the deck into his pocket after he pulled out the balloons and (as) she selected one (balloon). The 8 came back out of his pocket went he took the remaining balloons from her and put them back in his pocket and was in his hand outside the balloon as he pretended to pull it out f the balloon.
If you re-watch the video, it is extremely easy to make the cards go inside the balloon. The 2nd part that is. 1st part is probably trickier to do right. Hey Shawn, did the 1st part of the balloon trick ever go wrong during a real presentation? EDIT: Oh yeah and being able to see the trick over and over is cheating and totally breaks magic tricks (they aren't made to be seen more than once) unless you're VERY good or/and the trick is very hard to notice (like the first penn & teller trick).
I know how he does the balloon trick except for how he actually gets the deck inside the balloon when he blows it up over the deck???? Anyone know how this is done? the balloon actually blown up around the deck??? Can somebody email me about this?
I saw a lot of moves and i think i got quite a nice Idea of how the trick is done. But how the fuck did he get the deck into the god damn balloon?! Thats freakin' sourcery!
Nicely Performed Although i Think im quite Sure i know how he did it. The Concept is really simple. I dont know want to Spoiler it in Detail but he is hiding the card in his right jacket Pocket at One point:) In the end its quite clear, that the 8 of spades was Never Inside the Baloon, but he created the Illusion that it was Coming out of the Baloon
"Penn and Teller: Fool us" kinda ruined magic for me :) This is an amazing trick, but because of that show I'm able to see so many little moves Shawn did and I hate that. It destroys that amazing feeling of wonder you have when you have no idea how the things are done. Nevertheless, Shawn, you are my favorite magician, thanks for all the entertainment :)
To be honest, learning magic (even at a very minor level) makes me appreciate the skill that these guys have. It's one thing to know how something is done, but it's a totally different level at being able to perform it flawlessly in front of an audience like that.
It's not the question weather I appreciate or not, thing is that magic is supposed to amaze you, to make you think how is it done, to create sense of wonder. When you know how the trick is done that feeling is lost, all that's left is that appreciation.
daweedian84 I have to disagree mate. I think the concept of illusion behind the trick is much more interesting. The art of verbal misdirection, sleight of hand and all that stuff... that's what amazes me. With all that being said, I have to admit that is really difficult for me to figure out a trick on the first attempt. I usually rewatch it over and over to (eventually) understand how it's done. So for me magic is both things: the stunning feeling you get when you're completely fooled and then the comprehension of the routine that makes you understand how clever magicians are to come up with these tricks
I agree with what you are saying. Issue for me is the fact that I saw so many tricks being performed and by watching them I managed to figure them out (weather it was explained or I figured it out myself). Like I said earlier, I am amazed by the skill needed and I appreciate the magic but it doesn't create that sense of wonder it did before I started watching Penn and Teller and that's something I liked most about magic. It's like watching an amazing athlete, you know how he is doing that but you know you can't do it but you are still going to watch him because you enjoy it even though you seen it 10 million times. I don't know if this makes any sense to you, I'm kinda tired, should go to sleep so my words are kinda meh... :)
That seems to be one of, if not his one, signature illusion and giving it away or selling it would cheapen his act significantly. He should take it to the grave, if not passing along to a child, along with anything else unique/original he comes up with.
It's never in the balloon, he squeezes the balloon around the deck (notice how he never shows the bottom of the deck "in" the balloon). Then he makes a switch to another balloon which actually has a deck inside it.
Why did he palm the card like that? I’m surprised he made it obvious? Also if you put your hand in a pocket and bring nothing out it looks bad. I’m confused *Okay I think I know what happened. He got far ahead of himself. He pulled the balloons out before palming the card. So at that point he had to do the plan and ditch without the much needed misdirection. Man that sucks :(
He used the ruse of putting the balloons into his pocket in order to retrieve and palm the card, but even his palming technique was smooth enough that it didn't at all look like he was palming a card against the balloon.
youre just so fucking fast. I think I figured out how you do your Acaan but I need much more time to perform it correctly. Your trick is done within 2 minutes that's simply amazing
That trick would not fool Penn and Teller, hell, that trick didn't fool me! I seen you pull it and hide it and then pull it out again to place it behind the balloon
Shawn Farquhar you did fool they twice already though. Going for 3 any time soon? :) You are my favorite magician discovered from that show. Your humor is top notch, as is your magic.
This looks just like Jay Sankey's classic Airtight, but after watching this over and over until my retinas hurt, I cannot see where a deck switch occurs.
Why? The audience is offered free tickets and those that wish to participate are asked to sit in the first few rows. Are you saying you'd prefer not to be chosen because there are clearer ways to say that... ;-)
