That would change come WrestleMania 12 in 1996, with an iron man match against Bret Hart solidifying Michaels' coronation as the WWF's top guy.
Though the talented and charismatic Michaels had gained a reputation for being a major headache behind the scenes, most would concur that he was exceedingly worthy of holding the big belt. But perhaps it's fitting that the vehicle through which Michaels captured his first-ever World title proved to be just as polarizing as the man himself...
