I really like how the song has random dark gritty parts even though the song for the most part sounds very cutesy. Considering the song is called "LOVE POTION" the song is probably dark because the idea of a love potion. Because using a love potion implies that the person the potion's being used on doesn't actually love the user, and that by using a love potion the user is forcing the other person to love them against their will. The end of the song sounds like it's trying to cover up that fact by trying to keep sounding cutesy.

i really like when raychel's voice gets clearer. it's probably just the transition from the staticky muddled vocals to the normal vocals but it sounds so clear and nice... until the beat comes back. it starts sounding ominous. many people have already explained their interpretation of the song below me so i think you can infer what that part means to me. it's the moment after the love potion has taken effect. where it feels amazing and lovely like genuine love, until the reality hits. and the person administering the potion can't hide their alterior motives or the fact that this isn't genuine, that the victim doesn't want it, that it's not *real* love no matter how much they try to make it so. the minute the victim is rid of the effects of the potion, they will leave. they will be even less likely to fall truly in love with the perpetrator, knowing they forced them into it. so they hold that note, that moment of seemingly true love, until the beat comes back.

This song reminds me a lot of Porter Robinson's Fellow Feeling, where the themes of the music sound like their clashing while they play off each other. LOVE POTION has this darker element, while maintaining mostly upbeat vocals, similarly to Fellow Feelings constant conflict of really elegant music and hard, clanging noise. I think it's really cool when songs incorporate a sense of clashing!

Okay so I want to give my own thoughts on this song’s implications. Everyone seems to be talking about the song being about of the victim but I think the song I actually about the person who gave the potion. Think about it. The start sounds slightly Egyptian. It sounds cool, hip and maybe even a bit intimidating which is the person trying to approach their crush. Then the slow shift was their target drinking the potion and the start of the bubbly melody shows the potion taking effect. The lyrics are what the person is hearing. They are finally happy with the person they desired the most. The problem is that the song starts to shift and distort. This, to me, sounds like the person starting to realize that the potion isn’t going to last forever and their “lover” will soon wake up. After the first chorus, you get a small break with a small quick melody playing which I can imagine photos of the two loving each other flashing by. And the cut at the of the song was a cut of the potion losing effect, thus, the end of the happy song. It’s a really sad implication that you cannot force someone to love you and even if you could with a love potion, it won’t last forever. You’ll realize that sooner or later and that hurts. This song has so many undertones to it and that’s what I love about it.

This song reminds me of liking someone but internally fighting myself and saying I do not.

Pretentious musical analysis incoming (I just want to organize my own thoughts) I really like the surrealism that is added from the use of audio glitches and pitch shifts. It turns the usual bubbly and cutesy lyrics into something... fake. Just like a love potion, the affection is based entirely on lies. Love the song, definitely a new favorite! Hope the album does well.

What I got from this: I think a woman has a lover, close friend or crush who she would do absolutely anything for; 'ooh cross my heart, ooh hope to die, I'd stick a needle in both of my eyes for you' but someone put a love potion on her. Through this song, she's telling her loved one she might fall in love tonight, against her will. It's like the small fragment of her soul that is breaking through the love potion. I think the dark, gritty spurts in the song is like the potion taking her over if that makes sense. I'm confused about the 'dul set net' 2, 3, 4) part. Does it mean anything? Anyways, I hope we can all agree it's a great song! :D

this song literally sounds like yandere gave her crush a love potion and its all lovey but the glitchy dark sounding parts make it seem like its wearing off and its revealing a dark side of their love story all along and the yandere sounds like shes trying to cover it up from the cutesy parts of the melody
