I thank my lord for Shaye. what a talent, she has it all, looks, style and talent. Oh mad props to Dr. White, top tier playing, but Shaye....can I get an amen?
Shaye is amazing on piano. She plays with great rhythm, power, and control. To think that she thinks fast enough to improvise at that speed is incredible. How fortunate are we who get to witness such art created on the fly, the product of years of practice and perseverance!
And how fortunate we all are that Shaye Cohn felt the age-old lure of New Orleans and decided to come South and join the mix of the all-time greats, and add her touch to the Legacy music of the Crescent City. I would like to urge all the preservation society types,, some still heralding from the Garden District, to actively support the rare talent like this, and encourage future generations to pass on the torch.
Everytime i listen to TS, i find it easy to get into day dream mode, that takes me back to gentler, happier times. Watching Shaye 's elbows, tapping out musical bliss, then the music stops, ------------ And i'm back to reality
I love your traditional New Orleands jazz stylized as the 1930s, I feel like being moved back in time, your performance is brilliant, thank you for playing and putting your music in to internet, congratulations, good wishes for Tuba Skinny and musicians who used to play with them and those who played with them as a guest . Your great fan - Kazimierz from Gdańsk (Poland).
During the performance, I was looking at Sarah Peterson. She was sincerely enjoying. At some moment I caught myself responding to Sarah's smile. It was a great feeling. Thank you, Raoul, for posting this.
Listening in to this number just one more time - and then another and another. Each seems to reveal a brilliance I know never in any other way. The beautiful beat so strong is from the very heart of both these talented players. The listeners in the background know it too with spontaneouse applause so well deserved.
Sublime! And you caught Shaye's sister in the background, as well as the woman in the red coat texting throughout the performance. She cannot know what she missed, yes? Well done. As usual! DOUGout
Earling Garvie Absolutely. He’s also one of the greatest New Orleans Jazz historians around. And a professor at Xavier University. Just an impressive person all around.
