Only after he was gone did I regret not ever meeting him and what he truly meant to me. Who'd have thought 20 years ago that those who cannot even pronounce our names would be up there teaching us in Perfect Arabic! My 1st choice on ANY Islamic topic is Google it with his name. In the shortest time, he gives us the most - the real inside meat of the matter.
You should try Googling your subject with the name of REAL scholars like sheikh ibni 'Uthaymeen, sheikh Salih al-Fawzaan, sheikh bin Baz, sheikh AbdulMuhsin al-'Abbaad etc. You'll be amazed. Note, may Allah have mercy on you, that not everyone who speaks Arabic and is called a sheikh is in fact a sheikh.
This is the problem with "salafis" like you. Insinuating that our beloved sheikh hamza yusuf is not a scholar but yet he has studied more intensely and for longer than those you have mentioned. How about you take your own advise and recognise that just because one speaks Arabic and are referred to as a sheikh it doesn't mean they are befitting to that title. The young ignoramus have hijacked the title salafi and falsely claim to be following in the steps of the salaf, whereas in reality they don't have a single clue what that title entails. It not about repeating buzzwords like shirkh and biddah, but rather studying for years intensely and having the wisdom to not step out of their lane with deciding who is a sheikh and worthy of listening to and who isn't. Listening to RU-vid lectures from time to time and having a superficial book collection on ones shelf does not suffice. These fake salafis have no knowledge but yet wish to execute rulings and judgements as if they do. May Allah guide us all to the straight path and show us the truth whilst exposing the falsehood. Subhanallah Muslim brothers that force their wives to fully cover or think that being fully covered with niqab and jalbab makes a good wife or a good muslimah should learn from Hamza Yusuf Ma sha Allah he is a Scholar and his wife is dressed briefly. She is wearing a lose pants and a long shirt. This says a lot about what a true believer he is for not trying to push his wife to dress other wise. This is what makes their love so spacial. May Allah bless him and preserve him always.
One thing I can carry home is good actions can give a good Dawah sometimes. If you are upright and have good manners people will get attracted towards you.
