This is an excerpt from Shaykh Hamza's CD titled "Reflections from Surat al-Baqarah". Shaykh Hamza speaks about shaytaan and the anxious state of humans.
I've suffered from anxiety for 2 years including panic attacks but anxiety starts to slowly dissipate when you realise that we really don't control much. Happiness will not be gained through a job or wealth, Infact once you fully accept that everything that happens to us is the will of Allah and we have no real options but to submit to His will life feels soo much better. We've become deluded thinking we are the creators and masters of everything.
SubhanAllah, I suffer from panic and anxiety disorder so I am always in a state of panic and anxiety, this lecture made me laugh. Make dua brothers It's difficult to live with this.
"The only real anxiety to have, is the anxiety about death." SubhanAllah. I really needed to hear this right now.. I'm sure the entire CD is just as, if not more, amazing as this snippet.
Abul Hasnath Anxiety "about" death, not in death. Meaning we should be anxious to prepare for death, but at peace with our lord at the moment of death. Prepositions make all the difference.
Anxiety is the fear of death, But a subconcious death, thats why its more powerfull and scary, thinking ur loosing ur mind. If one have never tried anxiety before you dont understand it, thats my experience
Oh my Allah. I met a person who worried about poverty so much it was sickening. It was so much it rubbed off on me and I had to stop and say that is not me.
Tell me why "naat"? if you have any reflective skills at all. Don't just hit and run, you have nothing to fear since you're well hidden behind the keyboard.
Imagine on the Last Day, Allah Most High gives you a badge of honor for passing through life, and He says to you I knew you would. Now you know and others also know. Allah the Generous has made you earn His Gift and generosity.
Can i ever meet brother Hamza Yusuf!Everytime i listen to him,he opens new vistas in my mind! may Allah always keep brother Hamza in His protection.Ameen.
I meant to type ultimately it will kill your eeman !! Have some adab, you can say that you disagree with someone (although I don't know how u can refute a scholar when yourself have no knowledge) but rudeness with anyone and particularly a scholar is not the way that our beloved Prophet salla llah alayhii wa Sallam taught us !
dont we have to work for everything we want? you cant just magically get that dream house you wanted right? it will never happen. the fact that we have to struggle and strive for a better life in this life is proof that the test OF GOD is not illogical. it is in accordance with how we were created. its not simple minded. its just rational and logical. imagine if this test wasnt logical to us? it would expose the supernatural and ultimately end free will because we would clearly know.
What is the purpose of the test? I am assuming that because God is the merciful and compassionate that he must have an ultimately benevolent reason for testing us. What is he testing us for? The reason we give people a test of some sort is to discover something about that person- for instance, we might test a person's mathematical ability to see how good they are at math. Is God attempting to see weather we will be "good people"? That seems simple-minded. Hmmm.
bayreuth79 Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving; Quran: 67:1-2
Allah has given us the choice of the sin and its result as well as the result of good deeds. for good deeds there would be paradise and for the sins and the way of shaytan there as a result hell fire . very simple just you need logically thinking
The answer is simple & clear. *The life in this world is nothing but a Test. Hereafter is the Result Day.* We will be tested on *health, wealth, time & whatever gifts* that Allah Has Bestowed upon us. How are we going to utilize them? Is it going to be spent according to *Islamic teaching or according to our desire?* Of course *Allah Knows our destiny* whether we are going to *Heaven or Hell* ..but Allah Gave *free will* to each and everyone of us so *on the Day of Judgement we will be judged fairly* . As we speak, we're given *opportunities* again and again to identify our *purpose in life* & to know who our *God/Maker/Master* is. On the Day of Judgement our Book of deeds will be brought forward with us. For everyone, everything that we did in this world is recorded into a *Tablet/Book of deeds* ...the good and the bad it's all in there. Our duty is to do our best to be *obedient* to Allah. We can do so by; *increase & enjoin good deeds,* *avoid/ steer clear of forbidden things,* *repent/ask sincere forgiveness,* *improve ourselves,* *live righteously* and *hope for the best* . After all, do you think someone who is rebellious, dishonest & arrogant towards Allah deserves a place in Heaven/Paradise? We cannot blame Allah for our destiny and we cannot live recklessly or irresponsibly or be hopeless about it because *we're not there yet* . Who are we to decide where we will end up? Are we God? *No* . On the Day of Judgement we cannot say that Allah is unfair or mistreating us because *everything will be brought forward as evidence* . Everything will be disclosed. Nobody can escape. *Allah indeed is The Best of Judges.* *Allah is The Utterly Just.* *To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth.*
I wonder why Allah created a world in which human beings would naturally experience something as unpleasant as anxiety? Whatever Allah does he does for good reason- for the best of reasons, in fact- so, why this?
bayreuth79 In my humble opinion i think anxiety is the unnatural state. When you’re at peace and trust in God and his plan (with certainty) then i don’t think we’d have any anxiety. I pray we can get to that state!
*So that we know this world that we're currently living in is temporary. So that we realize everything that we have including our youthful skin is short-term. So that we turn to Allah and ask for calm and tranquility. So that we know only by knowing our purpose in life and having strong relationship with our Creator we will attain contentment and serenity. So that we hope for a better place to live in where no tears, no fears, no sorrow but everything so wonderful, only beautiful & joyful endlessly which is Al-Jannah* 💕
@sufi naqshbandi : fear Allah brother !!! What you have done is backbiting , to do this to an ordinary person is already a big sin but to a scholar it is even worse . I was told that the flesh of scholar is poison , meaning that If you say something bad , this will kill your heart and ultimately your eeman. Repent before it is too late !!!
Gary Johnson ; you are misguided and you have a false knowledge about the greatest prophet Muhammad PBUH , I recommend you a book by a non muslim author Michael Heart , 100 the most influential people , you can find rank 1 is prophet Muhammad PUHM , don't make this kind of statements without knowledge , don't be fool !
