Shaikh Minshawy is really unique reciter. It is interesting how you point out some tajweed details here, that I know in terms of theoretical knowledge, but don't really notice during those kind of recitations. Acctually, when I approach on that way, I have even more respect towards those qaris, since they don't have only beutiful voices, but also thez are experts in tajweed, what we very often forget - Master recitations are product of hard work and practice, not only nice natural voices. About hands, what I know is that there are 2 reasons: first one is that on this way qaris produce better sound, and can control it beter by closing mouth and part of the mouth in moment when they want to change sound; second - rasing hands open lungs more, so more air can be taken. This is simply anatomy of human body, where by breathing "with stomac" we use lower part of lunges, but by rising shoulders and hands, we allow more air to enter in upper part of lungs. Afte thet technique of conroling diaphragma is important to maintain stady voice and "economic" use of air at the same time. Thank you for you contents, keep it up! JazakAllah!
I’ve heard that the reason qurra place there hands on their head is to help with breathing and another being that due to them reciting so powerfully it causes their ears to ring and placing their hands there helps remove this
It is to concentrate the sound, block out noise from outside and heighten the sound emerging from the mouth. When you place your hands in that position, you hear how your voice sounds more accurately. It is also to make the recitation intimate because by virtue of reciting the Qur'an you want to draw closer and closer. Allah knows best.
