For the block in Florida, the citrus varieties are Valquarius and Vernia. 12x4 spacing so 908 trees/acre. The rootstocks used were US-897 & UFR-06. Not sure if we'd go with those varieties and rootstocks if planted again. Probably use 942 rootstock. As for exporting crop, I would foresee this SHD type planting being used in juice oranges and not in fresh shipments to be exported. We just hedged (pruned) block last week using a standard citrus hedging machine. The block was originally planted in May 2018. We are the grower (landowner) in Florida (Lost Lake Groves), so I do not know if rough lemon root stock can be used in high density orchard. The rootstock we used was a dwarf tissue cultured SmartTree from Agromillora. Isn't that bad for export though? I imagine the machine basically pulls the stem out of the orange and leaves a crater which would cause it to rot. Also it's not as appealing at the supermarket. You can break the stem without using clipers but you have to know how to break it which is what a lot of pickers do to fill up faster.
