That little bit of daylight wouldn't be enough to trigger a reaction. Before sunlight is brightening the sky, the atmosphere is already affected by the sun's radiation. If she was that sensitive to the sun, she was already done for by the time he asked her about seeing the sunrise.

@@chunchoe I saw that too, about 1:00 in, but then I noticed the frames on the windows and they look like the glass is tinted or has some sort of film on it. I am guessing these windows are specially designed to filter out whatever it is in sunlight that causes a reaction with her skin. Including details like that, but never mentioning them gives viewers a sense of attention to detail that may help make less believable plot points seem realistic. Maybe we are supposed to believe that little bit of sunlight she was exposed to was deadly because of all the other excessive efforts that were made along the way to protect her. Pointing out and explaining all those little things would possibly seem like they were trying too hard to make the sun dangerous. It may be better to let viewers draw their own conclusions. That would be good film writing, but I still stand by my original statement.

Interesting. In the book and movie "Twilight", the protagonist is Bella, who meets Edward who can't afford to be seen in sunlight. In this movie, the protagonist can't be in sunlight and is played by Bella. Its title "Midnight Sun" is the same as that chosen by "Twilight" author, Stephanie Meyer for the never-finished story of Bella meeting Edward told from his point of view.

There was a time in my life when my skin would blister if I went into the sun. Yes I'm deathly pale but the doctors didn't believe me until I showed them pictures. Suuuucks. I pretty much wear 50+ sunscreen & function at night, and other than being an immune issue I'm still not sure why it happens. Since I have Cancer it kinda got put on the backburner for now.

Not fun into romace but this one is one my best movies ive seen in all genre. But I'm little bit disappointed that she could have live without telling him earlier. She could have beg for people living in the nearest first 5 houses to let her stay until sun goes down. Explain his sickness and call his dad to prove that she has that kind of disease. But it didnt affect my rating to this movie

Yo guys, this is a Hollywood adapation from a Dorama (Japanese drama tv series) called "Tayo no Uta" (2006) - translated as "A song to the sun" - and also known as "Midnight Sun". The story is way better as whats brings the couple together is music (they are both musicians), the background of the couple is really well written and developed (keep in mind the targeted audience are teenagers, so it might seem a little childish, but still pretty solid) and the music from the female lead (Kaoru Amane) its really good (if you enjoy japanese songs).

Kaoru Amane is the name of main character in Tayo no Uta, the actress who play as her is Yui Yoshioka. for all of you wondering who is Yui Yoshioka is, she is Japanese singer and actress. is her song are good. if you enjoy Fullmetal Alchemist OP 1 and Bleach ED 5, maybe you will like her other song too.

I live with a solar allergy. In my case it's Solar Uticaria. XP is a genetic disorder. Solar Uticaria is autoimmune disorder. You can get UV filters for windows. You can go outside at night. There is specialized clothing that blocks UV.

If they are still anywhere near Seattle, the water there is 53 degrees year round. You need a wetsuit to spend more than 10 minutes in the water or you'll start getting hypothermia. You know you're from Seattle when you KNOW swimming is an indoor sport!

As someone competent regarding astrophysics......no. The light of the sun consists of many different forms of light. Visible light, infrared, ultraviolet, even x-rays and so on. But the stuff reflected by the moon is just the boring stuff that is unlikely to make anyone sick.

Yes it is. It's a genetic disorder. You're born with it. It's called Xeroderma Pigmentosum. There are differents types of XP. They exaggerated XP in this movie
