People often use the excuse "i was not happy" to cheat. That's NEVER a good excuse. If you're not happy with the person you are with, you discuss it, if you discuss it and nothing changes, you break up and find someone where happiness is a common ground. There is no excuse for cheating.
Or better. Find your pown happiness before entering a relationhsip. Yes you can love each other and you can make each other unhappy depending on behavior. But never let anyone be the basis of your core happiness.

If you have that at the core, the bigger are the chances that you bounce back faster than if all your happiness is relying on your relationship. :)

I spent 3 years trying to be that person for another one, I was a completely different person, or at least I tried to be. I guess most of us have go threw that lessons in life.
Hopefully I remember this if I ever think that I found the one. I can compromise a few things, but trying to turn my life around just to appease them is a futile effort that will only result in pain in the long run.

It took me two years of isolation to figure out what Alpha said in 10 minutes. I got my girlfriend pregnant in college. I did what I thought was right and put a ring on it, adopting my new responsibility whole heartedly. I’m not saying I was the perfect person but I tried really hard. I went to school, I went to work, and I took care of our daughter when I got home while she worked in the service industry at night. It was a hard relationship but I felt like we were sacrificing now for the future. I felt a gut feeling something was off but my brain rationalized that I’m just tired. Turns out she was cheating on me with multiple people. I confronted her and decided I have to forgive her for the sake of our daughter....she didn’t stop. We ended up getting divorced and I dealt with the pain by myself. Trust your gut, do not blame yourself brothers.

I feel bad that my daughter is from a broken home but her mum wanted to bring another man into our house when I wasn't there in March 2018. I think one of the big things someone once told me was we need to be clear on what forgiveness is and what forgiveness isn’t. 1. “Forgive and forget”….NO. Forgive and remember. I’m not forgetting. 2. Along those lines, forgiveness does not mean we’re back at square 1, we’re all good, it’s like it never happened. No. Forgiveness does not mean that you go back to be the person who is going to be taken advantage of by this other person in the same way. Forgiveness does not mean adopting an air of naïveté. 3. “Forgiveness means it’s okay”. No. What this other person did to you was not okay and you saying, “I forgive you” does not magically move it into the “it’s okay” category. Forgiveness basically means, “You hurt me but I am voluntarily giving up any right I have to get even or seek revenge against you. I’m not going to do that”.
Thanks bro I really needed to hear this, been going through it myself with someone I thought I'd marry someday. But that gut feeling has been throwing me off for awhile. Her inviting other men into her house when I'm at work, and adding "new friends" isn't something you do while being in a relationship. She claims she's naive but there's just too much that I've felt uncomfortable with for a long time and its just disrespectful to do that to a person you claim you love. Hurts as fuck, all the time, support, care, love, optimism and so on, she chose someone that has done nothing for her, while I refused to continue University in Norway to be close to her in Germany, refused to work with VR in Singapore to continue the future with her, didn't talk with any girl bc I was focused only in my project and her, and she chose that other guy. 2 years ago I found out my ex girlfriend was cheating on me. It was one of the saddest and lowest parts of my life. I didnt want to be in a relationship anymore, I didnt trust anyone. This really speaks to me! My wife cheated on me back in October and she didn't say anything was wrong until we went to marriage counseling. She had said that I wasn't emotionally open and didn't talk about my feelings because that was just the way I was I almost NEVER talked about my feelings I always bottled them up and pushed them WAAYY down. So she met a guy on some weed smoking app and slept with him. I went to counseling for myself right after. Now currently going thru the divorce process and still dealing with my emotions of the entire thing and is still extremely hard to talk about sometimes but is getting easier to do so. I think yesterday was the worst day of my life. As a man. I dated a girl for 4 months and things were going really smooth. Yesterday, jan 1st I went with her family to a music festival for the first time. I was so happy to finally feel what it is to love someone. 30 min before the festival was finished I caught her making out with another dude 2 meters in front of me after I went to the toilet. Together with her brother and parents I had to see that image where she was making out with a random dude. I wanted to leave and even decided to kill that guy but I still had my jacket in a locker and only the girl I dated knew the code. So I had to ask her what the code was after she cheated on me. She still denies everything that happened yesterday. And put the blame on me. She is a true narcissist and she even threatened to hurt herself now. I went home in a taxi with her mom and I had to pay €200 that night. Even her mom denies seeing her daughter cheating on me with another guy. That whole family is focking crazy man. Even I feel like I’m going mental but it is what it is. She belongs to the streets, on to the next.

I did this for 13 years. Gave every dime I made to her. Let her handle my finances and the bills. Did what I thought a good husband should do by putting my family first. She waited for me to hurt myself at work and then threw me out with nothing and nowhere to go. Now I’m sleeping in my fathers apartment on his couch picking up the pieces of my life and my heart. Now I’m starting over at 39 from scratch. I should have done better by myself but life’s just beginning I guess. Very good advice my friend keep up the good work.

I finally found myself, listened to my gut, knew my worth but never had the strength to leave her because like you said she was very insecure and never trusted me. No matter how much I tried to help her see her worth, she just couldn't get out of that mind set. She always tried to break my confidence and tried to bring me down in order to make herself feel better and beautiful. It was so draining finally put a stop to it and ended it. Best decision of my life. We live and we learn. That lesson was very hard but thank God I was able to get out of it. Never again.
