Just hunting POTA’s initially made me nervous, but now I’m activating!!. Using a straight key and a little help with copying call-signs it was a huge and fun success. Everyone in the ham radio community gets it and is always patient, so thank YOU!!! If you’re thinking about giving it a try … Just GO FOR IT!!! It’s a great accomplishment that leaves you wanting to do it again ….and again.

❓WHO ARE WE?
We're Michael & Becky, also known as N4FFF and N4BKY. We're an adventure couple who also loves CW (morse code) and radio stuff. We are both trying to get better at CW so having two of us there trying to copy really helps us figure most of it out! We love adventures and this is another way for us to get out there and have fun together.
If you catch one of us on the air most likely we are both at the ready. We like to hunt POTA's and each make contact so don't be surprised if you hear from us both.

Great job! You have a great SK fist, what they call "armchair copy". You'll have all the little bits and pieces of the exchange down pat in no time. I liked the bits of B roll footage; it's a nice addition to the video. Michael wasn't wrong about sending your call more than once, but I find before I get spotted or when I have to call a few times it can help to send my call two or three times for a couple reasons: 1. If someone is having trouble copying my call or I'm sending faster than they can copy, it helps to hear it a few times in a row. 2. I'm making a longer bit of noise on the air so people can find me easier. 3. If propagation is poor, there's a better chance of the RBN picking me up. This really helps when you don't have cell service. Hope this helps. You did/are doing great! Great coaching, Michael.

Todd, thanks for watching and the compliment! We are both getting more and more comfortable for sure but sometimes still just get lost. HIHI Thanks for the tips as well and the reasons make a lot of sense. I know we appreciate that second time around to even just verify .... yep, we got it!! Michael is a great coach and it's nice just having someone that can help right there :-)

Thanks for the congrats, I was nervous but made it through it. CW is definitely hard but the accomplishment is so rewarding. I started with a free phone app (MorseMania) to learn letters. Then transitioned to Morse Code Ninja videos to continue learning with words. We researched that learning fast letters with increased spacing (Farnsworth) helps with instant character recognition. Michael learned the wrong way trying to memorize dits and dahs and has a hard time turning that part of his brain off. We are both no where near head copy but getting better the more we get on the air!!!

Thank you! I was definitely nervous but it was so exciting and felt amazing to accomplish the activation. The map is a little confusing because the word Toronto is over the red dot, but actually just labeling the city (white dot). I got close, but didn't get a VE on this activation 😊 73, Becky es Mike

Its no surprise that Steve KG5CIK was your first contact. We often get Steve in the log all the way here in Australia. He's a great hunter. Also this was great CW copy practice for me.
