My abusive ex called and had the police and paramedics because he said I was going to hurt myself and I took too many meds. I was in a dead sleep when I woke up to cops and medics in my room. When I got to the hospital they were treating me horribly. One doc said, “You have a kid don’t you, I’m calling DFS”…that sure calmed the situation. My ex knew what he was doing because he did it when he knew I’d have to stay because the attending. docs wouldn’t be back until Monday. The only reason the psych resident could admit me is because he used something that had happens years beforehand. When the qualified docs came in Monday morning I got an apology and discharge papers. When I got in the car with my ex he asked if I’d learned my lesson. Not long after that when he hurt me I packed our kid up and ran. It’s been me and my son since 2017.
You would think the doctors would of ran blood tests to check your blood levels and function tests, I would of demanded they the tests to check the levels of my medication to show it was at a therapeutic level.
You can't argue with the Psych doctors. You just wait until someone is willing to listen. Sometimes, even if your time is up but you mess up then you have to stick around.@@stormexaustralia77
Same happened to me in 2022, then my life fell to pieces and I was pushed until I snapped. It cost me my freedom and my career, and time with my son from my previous marriage. Luckily my first wife is really supportive and we have a solid friendship and coparenting relationship.
Sometimes, the torture is self-inflicted.... She may feel like people are thinking that about her, but they probably aren't. John Kennedy Jr. failed the Bar 7 times... LOL!!! He was able to adapt and moved on in a different occupation.... without injuring himself.
Sometimes people are just cruel and they know what they are doing is hurting someone it is just that they don't care. It isn't their fault that the person feels they are not good enough
Gods, so many people here saying or agreeing with a 72 hour hold in a psychiatric ward is wrong or “sue worth” is probably one of the things that convinces me that their is no hope for humanity. Firstly, many hospitals require a 72 hour hold on someone if they are self harming IN ANY WAY, regardless of if the patient is suicidal or not. Secondly, psychiatric wards provide trained psychiatrists and psychologists to help determine if an individual is having a short term mental break, if it’s an undiagnosed mental illness, if the patient could benefit from prescription medication, or if therapy is the better option. And thirdly, and probably most importantly, they give resources to individuals in crisis so that they have starting points to taking steps forward. That includes setting you up with a therapist, getting prescriptions in order, giving you crash courses on skill sets to setting boundaries. Hell, some hospitals can even help you get into support groups within your religious communities. There is so much more than sitting in a room for 72 hours that goes into a psych ward. People who need help get help.
I 100% agree. Currently training as a psychologist and have been through the process myself before and it's for her safety as well as everyone around her. Based on her behaviour this type of SH could easily lead to more permanent consequences. It's a standard safeguarding procedure that, like it or not, is in place for a reason. For those of you who don't know, safeguarding procedures in these contexts goes roughly as follows (this won't be perfect as it's 3am and I haven't read an official one in a while). Confidentiality between a professional (teacher, doctor, therapist ect) and a patient (or anyone) is kept unless one or more of the following are mentioned: The patient is at risk for harming themselves and/or others. Someone is/has threatened to harm the patient. The patient knows of someone who plans to harm/has harmed another individual. I fully agree with the Doctor's in this scene as it's clear that immediate intervention was needed to prevent this from happening again
Lmao you really believe that don't you? The psych wards are so much worse. My mother was in a psych ward once. She wasn't on a hold, she was self admitted. They wouldn't let her do anything, they wouldn't even let her cover her ass! (The gowns were too small and they wanted her to go to group therapy and dine with other patients...with out underwear on) On holds they literally do lock you in a room with a nurse who just stares at you all day and all night. They treat you like a freak. So many people just play along with them to get free and end up more suicidal than when they arrived due to the dehumanizing treatment
The hospital staff in the pyc ward often make fun of and make the mentally ill in the hospital. It is truly a dehumanizing experience. Some have been admitted under false pretenses and had issues from the experience itself. Our health care has a long way to go.
Just because you know how she’s feeling, doesn’t change the fact she self harmed because of how she was feeling. It would have been hard but they’re doctors and that’s self harm. She admitted it, and she’d do it again.
How is psych NOT gonna make it worse? Psych ALWAYS makes things worse. It's like throwing someone in jail for being depressed. It's disgusting. They are gross for doing it.
That's exactly what they did here; they're offering her help. They're not locking her up for fun! It's to give her the psychological help she so obviously needs.
Locking someone up against their will IS NOT "OFFERING" help. It's called abusively forcing. And that can cause trauma worse then the original problem. Trust me on that.
@@justincase7848Oh yeah? And what's the alternative in your opinion? Let her leave so she can hurt herself again? She made it perfectly clear that she would do that again and again to avoid the exam. And it's also obvious that she does NOT accept help because she does NOT think that what she's doing is wrong. Letting her go in this situation is like giving a loaded gun to someone with self exit thoughts. Besides, it's not like they were going to keep her chained up in a cellar her entire life or something. She's gonna be in a HOSPITAL for 72 hours so that doctors can assess her mental state and give her the help she needs. You're just being silly.
@@SomiaDzexcuse me but as someone who has experience in this matter I am not being silly at all. Helping a person who wants to hurt themselves is much more nuanced then locking them up against their will. That can be abusive and cause more trauma and harm in the long run. If you want to help someone you have to be smart about it. Using abusive tactics is not called helping someone.
Her very soul is crying out against being a lawyer. She has another passion, something her soul loves more than life. Why can't she have THAT? She would SOAR in that field, whatever it is. There would be no failure.
@@PasteMama409 Like do you know what the answers, or just suck at taking a tests, like would you know the answers on the road? Don't hurt anyone but it may be time to get some help with your learning disability
@@susandunn7207a civil commitment is not only a medical record but also a legal proceeding, and thus is not necessisarily private. Many licensed professions, including medicine, would carefully scrutinize an application for a license from someone at one time deemed incompetent, albeit temporarily. It's a huge liability issue. If they go off the rails and someone decides to sue the university that let them get training for the profession, or the licensing board that gave them the license.....hoo boy. It gets really, really messy.
Maybe an unconscious 'cry for help'? She was very agitated, it clearly all just 'burst out' in this scene. Something enormously burdensome, she had been holding back till it even caused her to self harm...maybe part of her wanted someone to intervene in a way she couldn't easily get out of.
Most people wouldn't spill their guts like that because the doctor spoke softly-- they'd have a lie ready about being curious about the healing process and possible lifelong complications and all that.
She doesn't need help, she needs to tell her family to back off. Her family did this to her, she's not crazy, she's just had enough. The empathy level on these drs is zero!!!
She does need help, and it’s nothing to do with “crazy.” The pressure she’s under is too much and she can’t see a way out. She can’t just be left like that!
@averycheesypotato I know, she needs support, but there must be better ways to help her. But I know ppl who hurt themselves grt put on 72 hour watch, but the system will just put her down as crazy, which she isn't. Her family is the problem. Which is what I said in the first place
@@GlitzyWitch the system isn’t perfect, but it’s the only resource to help her right now. Her family won’t, and she can’t stand up to them. If she’s released, she will hurt herself again to appease them- that just can’t be allowed to happen. If the doctors care they will check in on her and comfort her during her stay, but just offering empty words with no action won’t work
My first job was an extremely abusive work environment. It drove me to the point of purposely falling now the stars to the beak room just so i could get a break. Ive never "hurt" myself since then and they never locked me up for 72 hours. Just because someone does something out of depersonalization doesn't meen they need to be locked up.
So you think she's insane because she broke under pressure an doesn't want to be a failure to her family? You already helped now mind your own business.
I agree that she needs help, but I think forcing a hold when she is not suicidal is a bit much. I thought you only need to refer her to psychiatric and they can make a treatment plan from there, and if they deem her a threat to herself or others then they hold her.
Being a danger to herself doesn't have to mean she's gonna off herself. She purposely burned her hand to avoid taking an exam. She needs to be held and assessed, she is obviously unwell
@@Phoenix-mh5eo Yes, you can. Self harm, of any kind will put you on a mental health hold. Especially, when you purposefully give yourself bad enough burns that you require any kind of skin graft, just to get out of taking a test. You can be put on mental health hold for various reasons as well. It’s just that self harm cases are the ones most covered.
How do you know 100% that she won't kill herself? She is already doing something that a rational person would not. All this to get out of a test when a rational person would simply NOT take the test. Admit to yourself that you can't pass it and get on with your life.
All that shows is that Dr's can't be trusted. They did not evan try to talk to her about it, they just took her to the Psych ward. A-holes. I hate both of them for betraying her trust like that. 😡
Are you serious? She hurt herself on purpose and made it perfectly clear that she didn't want her hand to heal fast (which implies that she would hurt herself again if it does), but you're blaming the doctors for giving her the help she so obviously needs? What did you expect them to do, let her be a danger to herself and do nothing?
