DONT FORGET...DONNA WAS AN ACTOR BEFORE A SINGER...BROOKLYN IS FOLLOWING DIRECTLY IN HER MOMS FOOTSTEPS...DO MORE RESEARCH ON PEOPLE BEFORE YOU MAKE VIDS BRO....
I remember meeting her in Bloomingdales in NYC no one really was around her and I asked "Are you who I think you are?" She responded "that depends who you think I am," and smiled. I said "Great to meet you , I love your music," and kept it moving. She was very nice.
@@meghanmisaliar I could tell she was just shopping and didn’t want a big fuss . I wanted to respect her privacy . I don’t think most prole even knew she was there; it wasn’t an event.
I was 13 and sitting in the audience when she guest starred on Family Matters as Aunt Tuna. Every single time she entered the room for a scene the audience applauded for minutes at a time to the point where the emcee had to keep telling everybody to stop applauding when she comes in but it kept happening. It happened every single time. She sang Last Dance toward the end of the episode and the audience was singing along and stomping on the bleachers. It was crazy. All these kids and their parents were that excited about her being there. She got like a 10 minute standing ovation when they wrapped her
Thank you for sharing the information and your memories about late great Diva Donna Summer! This is the first time I heard about them. She was a true legend and I loved her music and her voice since I was a boy in the 1970's, although I live here in South Asia.
Every time I saw this woman singing live. I felt like I was in a space with an angel. The voice of an angel was so powerful so ethereal and so beautiful. ❤🎉❤🎉
@@FactsVerse REAL TALK...Fell in love with this woman as a young boy! Then realized after I became a man Donna hated the skin she was in and dated all white men some who abused her. Made a living off the gay community and in the end INSULTED them. A true tortured tragic iconic figure...SMDH
Donna Summer had a singing talent that defies explanation. An incredible, giving, talented lady whose priorities were spot on. And now her children, are providing a excellent example of the saying "Kids live what they learn". Very very well done ladies. All of you! An excellent success story.
Donna Summer was such a talent. All her songs was captivating. Left a remarkable impression. Glad her daughters are sharing her story to let others learn and be a source of encouragement.
I knew back when her debut of Love to Love You Baby came out, she was going to be a HUGE star!! I've heard few singers do a falsetto so naturally as she had. It's like she had TWO voices. I play MacArthur Park from time to time to lift my spirits.
@@edmondhodge2382 I noted your comment regarding falsetto and checked with Oxford dictionary and Wikipedia. According to Oxford dictionary you are right but according to Wikipedia information there is a dispute. Some accept the idea that female falsetto also exist. Please check with Wikipedia for more information.
Absolutely, we feel the same way! Thank you for sharing your sentiments and for watching our content. What other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?
Ever since I was 11 years I hear an 8 track I remember Yesterday from my father's sister and instantly I feel in love with Donna Summer ending having the whole collection in LP's at that time upgrading to cds later on and I own all kinds of souvenirs from her. I was so lucky and honor to go to 2 concerts before she pass. Still today and always listen to her music and always remember her glory times from The Disco Queen she was and is like that song "say I love you with the neon lights" from This time I know is for real song. I love Donna Summer you my first Diva of all times.
@JCOLON901 Thank you for sharing your memories about the late great Diva, Donna Summer! Yes, you are lucky to live there and see her in person at those 2 concerts! I am a man living in South Asia but I am in love with her music since I was a boy in the 1970's. I also had many of her albums on cassettes at that time and now i have almost all of her albums on CD's. Her voice, her singing, so captivating. The true Queen of Disco. She is a legend. So much of good memories of her! She will always be remembered by us!
Donna Summer was so beautiful...She sounded even better as she got older..''Donna Summer - Last Dance live for David Foster & Friends'' Magnificent hearing her live.
I grew up listening to Donna, I was annoyed by the press saying that She betrayed her fans, I didn’t know what to think at the time, but I recently watched the documentary, it explained some things for me, I have seen similar in my own family. I always loved her REAL talent aside from one song that many judged her by..I will always remember her and play her great songs.
@jeromesullivan4015 Thank you for sharing your views!! I also grew up listening to the late great Diva, Donna Summer although I am a man living in South Asia. I always loved her voice, her music, her songs since i was a boy! But I am not much aware of that press news that she betrayed her fans once. Anyway I can say that she was a much talented great legend and the true Queen of Disco. Her singing talents are unbeatable by any other. That particular song you mentioned was done by her under strong persuasion by her production team and its not her own choice. I have very good memories about her. Yes, she will always be remembered by us and will live in our hearts forever!
My Stepfather loved her so much, he hung her album cover on the basement wall. He played "Spring Affair" and I immediately became an instant fan of her music. She was tall(I was a 10 year old kid at the time) attractive & I loved how she performed her music. She looked like a beautiful spirit, who carried the weight of the world on her shoulders. She was a DV Survivor & a daughter of God. She was our Queen. Rest in Peace, Donna Summer. Love to love you, baby! ❤🥰
I can't pick a favorite Donna Summer memory, because her music has become essential to me ever since I heard "Love To Love you, baby" a few months before I turned 13 and to date. Now that I am 60 years old, she is still my favorite artist, whom I thank for all the happiness that she has brought to my life with her excellent work. Because it is so: this is a story of almost 50 years and counting!
I saw Donna Summer in concert in Philadelphia many years ago, and she was FANTASTIC! It was arguably the best live performance I ever saw and I've seen a lot of live performances over the years. She was such a great, great singer and performer. I don't think she gets enough credit for how good of a singer and vocalist she really was.
You are lucky to see and hear her in a concert in USA. Good memories for you!! She is one of my favourite female singers though I live here in South Asia. She is a true legend, but I agree with you about the fact that she didn"t receive the propèr recognition she deserved.
She is my absolutely main influencer and inspiration for my singing. Now I'm a certified music teacher and has released my own songs on Spotify and other platforms. She also has been a spiritual motivator for me, leading me to Jesus. She was an incredible woman! May she rest in peace.
I met her once at a book signing in L.A. and she was as nice and polite and funni as one could have ever imagined, ppl loved her 4 many reasons, not just 4 her incredible voice and musical legacy..she was really a "Rainbow!!"..."All the colors that u see are all a part of me!"
Donna Summer was an amazing singer and an American beauty. She had a tremendous amount of talent. Even though they called her the Queen of Disco, she trand sent different decades. Her beauty and her million dollar smile, not to mention her talent, brought happiness to millions. It was sad that she passed away of lung cancer "at her home in Naples, Florida. She sold over 100 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. She won five Grammy Awards." RIP Donna Adrian Gaines (aka Donna Summer age 63) December 31, 1948 - May 17, 2012.
@FactsVerse Would love to see you do a video as only you can on Virginia Anna Adeleid Weidler. She was a child star who was better known in the thirties and the forties. Unfortunately, she passed away at an early age of only 41 in 1968. I think the most popular role was when she did the 1940 movie Philadelphia Story.
@ccastaneda669 Thank you for sharing the information regarding the late great Diva Donna Summer! Yes, she had great talents with that voice and singing. She was a true legend. I loved her songs since I was a boy back in the 1970's although I live here in South Asia. Wonderful memories! We miss her sadly, but she will live in our hearts forever!
She was a rare musical and gifted artist. She wrote, arranged, produced and sang her own songs. Her best album in my opinion was Four Seasons Of Love. The strings, bass lines and synthesizers on this album were off the charts.
@sweetness_5772 Yes, she indeed was a gifted artist! A true legend! "Four Seasons of Love" is a very good album. For me, her most favourite album is "Bad Girls". Thanks for sharing the information!
As I grew up I became interested in Donna Summer's music and took her name as a nickname then. She is sorely missed. Rest in peace dear Donna Summer, your music lives.
Definitely an underrated singer. I once read an article calling Gloria Gaynor the Queen of Disco and laughed out loud. The title of QUEEN OF DISCO belongs to Donna and no one else. She's a great singer who was gone too soon but will never be forgotten.
Years ago Donna Summer did a live television concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Her vocal range was outstanding and she had one of her daughters with her on stage. This was the last live performance I've seen of her. That performance should be played again.
I am continuingly awed by Donna Summers perfect image/persona of a (Disco) Queen. Throughout her career she had never showed us (her fans) anything less than the dreamed of fantasy of who she was. For me she is more than The Queen of Disco. Donna Summers is The Goddess of Disco!
Whenever I feel down because I’m not that young chick anymore, and with age a lot of problems arise, I listen to her and right away I feel better her voice, Could it be Magic……which is my favorite song ❤
@@FactsVerse I love all her music but by the nineties, she sort of changed a little when she became a borne again Christian, which I have nothing against any religion, so anything from the 70’s to early 80’s would do for me, thanks so much I feel very proud and appreciate the fact that my comments were accepted I have a lot of respect for the lady, she brings such beautiful memories of those times.
Yea":) she was one of my faves during the 70's and still is those were the best times to be in high school as I remember and will always remember her and her music and beauty and just cruising with friends and the FM stereo on in the car.
She was the Disco Diva in the Philippines. Her career still blazed all the way to the release of her She Works Hard for the Money track way passed the Disco fever era. For me, the breakthrough moment for her was when she made an Ebony & Ivory duet with Streisand with Enough Is Enough. In my country, the masses were more appealed & gravitated toward the underdog such that there were more emphasis on Donna being vocally better than Barbra. It was a rare moment that time that you see a black & white duet, especially from two singer giants of our time. It created an inevitable comparison list and personal choices. I remembered that time my decision was that, this track is Donna's territory and not even classical songbird Streisand can touch this. It was like Summer ALL THE WAY for me! Hehe...
Donna had an amazing voice better than 99.9% of the women today and the power she could hold the mic a foot away from her mouth and still project, if she hadn't smoked she would have had even more power
My favorite memory? I've always seen her as simply gorgeous, talented and I loved when she sang, "Last Dance." I remember being in high school learning to sign (for the deaf) her lyrics. I was so proud to learn that song using my hands. Also, I recently I toyed with the idea that Kelly Rowland is her clone...oops, I mean her twin. Yes, Kelly is her twin. Right? lol. I didn't know she had three daughters. Wow, I'm so out of it, lol. Beautiful ladies to represent us Sisters. Go, Ladies!
The most deepest and happiest memories of my youth are of the times when Donna Summers became famous in the 70’s, I love all her music but my favorites records are Four Seasons of Love and Live and More. One person they forgot to mention in this video was her primogeniture daughter Mimi, who looks like her mom a lot but in a lighter version.
So much fuss made over Whitney Houston’s albeit tragic death but so little was made of this talented woman’s passing. She was vocally just as talented as Houston if not more so and probably bigger in her day but without the drug issues. She needs to be celebrated more.
@stewartdavies929 I liked both these ladies, late Donna Summer and Whitney Houston. They both were great talents of their own. But you are absolutely right about this view. I do agree with you.
@@janath9118 whitney houston and jacko had no class and both were too cowardly to state they were gay and shitney was sick enough to sing the star spangled banner when children were being blown to bits by american weapons in iraq. she was a garbage a media creation who would do anything to get fame and had zero values. jacko and shitney their legacy is that it is not ok to be gay yet no one gave them flak about it like donna got flak for possibly making anti gay remarks.
Donna Summer was the hottest, sexiest woman of the mid 70s and the Disco era. No one came close. Every man wanted to, you know…. And every woman wanted to be her, if even just a little. She got us up and dancing, wearing polyester dresses and having the time of our lives.
Donna Summer was one of the main reasons I was listening to disco until Van Halen appeared . One of my favorite songs was I Feel Love . I was a young teen just past 10 when I listened to her music . Critics called some of her music too sexually explicit . I never understood that .
@@FactsVerse I just loved the music her and her wizard Giorgio Moroder made . I Feel Love is one of the most beautiful songs ever made . Madonna , Christina , Britney , Beyonce , and Lady Gaga should all bow to the Queen of Disco . I never mentioned Debbie Harry because she would probably agree and did a great live version of I Feel Love in honor of Her Majesty Donna Summer .
Barbara Streisand, did not record Enough Is Enough, in the same studio with Donna Summer. It was recorded in different days at two separate recording studios.
@marizarivera9177 Yes, you are right. "No more tears" by Donna Summer and Barbra Streisand! That truly was a great moment together which never happened again! We miss her but we will never forget her.
@@janath9118 They recorded the song in the studio but never performed it live together.. ''Jabara later told Us magazine about their recording session, saying the era’s biggest vocal divas were “intimidated by each other.” At one point, he said Summer tried to keep up with Streisand’s long notes and toppled off her stool when she ran out of breath. Jabara continued: “There was Streisand, hands flaring, and Donna, throwing her head back - and they’re both belting, sparking each other. It was a songwriter’s dream. Seeing them on their stools opposite each other was so mind-boggling, my head nearly turned 360 degrees, like Linda Blair’s did in The Exorcist.” Listen to their raw vocals during the recording session below.''
@@funkysouldancer1 Sorry for the delay to reply. Didn't they perform this song live at least once ever!? That's a pity. But I believe that Donna can also cope with any high notes, as her many songs prove it. Anyway as you mention, Jabara cannot be wrong either. Well, to my knowledge, Donna Summer was one of the most talented singers of the pop disco genre. Her vocals were amazing! She was a diva and a true legend. Thank you very much for sharing all these lesser known information! I just want to write you here that I am a man living in South Asia who likes Ms. Donna's songs very much.
The quintessential box-set called ,"ENCORE", is the best collection of all her , at least most of her discography!I'd recommend this to any Donna Summer fan!I just wish she could of been able to endorse it
As a kid my mother had all her albums and would play them blasting them on the stereo system while we my brother sister and mother cleaned the house I loved her voice still listen to her music til this day R.I.P Donna Summer you truly were a Queen Love to Love You!!!
Donna Summer is sooooo BEAUTIFUL.. I only have one double LP of Donna Summer. That's the only album I need of hers... Yes that Purple cover double album with all the hits....Sunset People, Our Love, I Feel Love, Hot Stuff, Bad Girls, Enough Is Enough, On The Radio, Love To Love, Macathur's Park.. Listening to her music made me feel as if I was there with Donna partying, clubbing, on the street living that hi-life......🎵🎼🎶🎶🎵🎵🎼🎼🎼🎼🎵🎶🎼🎼🎵🎶🎙🎤🎧📻🎷🪗🥁🪘🪕🎻🎺🎹🎸
this was ok. I wish someone would do an examination of Donna Summers painting skill.. she was an exceptional artist and should get credit for her ability. I wish i owned one of her paintings. She was Excellent
I love her , i grew up in rhe disco era this was the music all my aunts and uncles danced to growubg up, and, im also from Boston, i also went to hair, beauty and cosmetology school with her niece, she always came to my home to get her braids done while listening to her aunts s musuc and her showing me photos of her and the family
She is and always has been my favorite female singer. I still play all her music still today. Keep it part of my rotation. There is only one, and there will never be another Donna Summer. What a beautiful woman, great talent, and absolutely awesome singer. Her music catalog is still and always will be one of the best for our listening pleasure.
I saw her in Soho on Broadway in NYC with her mother in the late 70's always looking charming while having her battle, what I will always remember is that haunting voice on the song Love to love you.
Thts great I wish her family ws there whn she ws going thru all of tht she is a legend to all of ur here in Columbia SC my family went many.of her shows at township we pray 🙏 tht don't happen to others famous people
I worked with her in "Hair". She was the star voice on the show. His name is Helmut Sumner. He had the face of an angel. She was the wisest because of her knowledge & nurture of scripture. Loved her......
At a concert in an outdoor Amphitheatre.... the music stopped while Donna held out a big note as she slowly lowered the microphone to the floor, her voice gradually fading from the sound system. But, her voice still FILLED the theater! When she released the note, she looked startled... the audience was dead silent. You could have heard a pin drop. After what seemed to be minutes, someone started clapping, then the audiance roared with applause, cheers, whistles, screaming, and tears rolling down people's faces, mine included. I couldn't believe it. I had to ask my friend, Did that really happen? Yes! Yes! Her voice FILLED the place - a venue with stars instead of a roof, and boats coming in to dock and floating behind the stage, but her voice filled the place, without the aid of a sound system. Just her voice! We witnessed one of those rare events that gets burned into your memory for all time. Donna Summer stopped time, just because she felt like it, and just because she could. Donna sings on the other side. Her voice was powerful in this life, but in the next, it can bend the universe.
