I've seen enough other folks with that failure that I have a complete setup onboard just in case. Vacuum bagged with desiccant and stored away. Also from HDI Marine. Their products are top notch!
Hey awesome crew, thanks for sharing. Interesting fix. I ran in similar problems and my fix is stainless steel tube replacements too. No problems even since.
@@OnboardLifestyle I love how Teal lays out the parts and tools for all DIY projects, an inspiration to this hardcore DIY'er. *I was mad at Teal for a second. At first, I thought who are those two swimsuit models Teal is walking with. Oh Linh and Emma.* Ha ha. Beautiful ladies. Teal next time you need to go shirtless... eye candy for lady fans of Onboard Lifestyle.
Linh, you inspired me this weekend. I made your focaccia bread and it turned out so delicious! The perfect compliment to our Sunday dinner of linguine with clam sauce and a caprese salad.
Teal, as Professional Mechanic , a little suggestion for cleaning gaskets. I find that soaking the old gasket with a spray lube like WD-40 (Or just brush on some diesel fuel, it works in a pinch) it does two things. 1) It loosens the bond of the old gasket to the metal and swells it up a bit 2) It also lubricates the razor blade to glide over the machine surface, preventing it from digging in and gouging.
Much like going to the grocery store hungry, I should not watch your videos when I'm hungry. Fantastic. I could almost taste that bread. And she fixed the diesel! You're a luck man Teal. Hi Emma.
For the part that cracked part you may wish to keep it because you can weld stainless steel and it would make a good emergency repair. Nice time to see if JB Weld works on stainless as well ......😁👌👀........... enjoy
I was very concerned that your (time for a "Safety Dance") battery buses were not covered (@12:51 mins.). I cringed at the thought of Linh dropping a wrench from sweaty hands across the positive and negative battery buses... Yikes! Cover those buses up! Awesome job by the whole crew (where was Compass... puppy cam!)! Remember... Safety, Safety, Safety! Fair Winds!!
Well, I had a crack at the bread yesterday and it wasn't too shabby! I think that I will use a touch more yeast next time and maybe a little more water - my mixture appeared to be a little stiffer than yours. At the insistence of she who must be obeyed, I added a small quantity of chopped olives to ours, at that stage where you transferred the mix to the baking pan. I sprinkled some on the top, then folded one third over them, then sprinkled some more on that and folded the final third over them. I confess, it was delicious and she who must be obeyed was correct in thinking it would be a nice touch.
That's awesome! Yes, sometimes you will need to adjust the yeast (depending on how old it is), and water based on the humidity and altitude. The best thing about focaccia bread is adding any toppings of your choice. Olives, rosemary, coarse salt are always a hit. So happy to hear you liked it! Cheers!
Linh and Teal work so well together. You guys are amazing with what you have done together to make your floating home the beautiful boat that it is. Linh, your bread looks AMAZING, it made my mouth water, I could almost smell it over the internet. LOL I sent this episode to my daughter because she teaches other ladies how to make sourdough bread in her home, and I knew she would love this episode where you made bread. Thank you for showing how you did it, the timing of it, and the recipe. I am sure she will try it herself. Safe travels, I'm looking forward to seeing you all again next week. BJ in Holland, Michigan
Teal: She.... folds up nicely. Put her in a suitcase take her anywhere. Unpack her- she immediately bakes bread & fixes the nearest engine problem. Linh: I got this. Order engine parts from 5k miles away. Help husband install parts. And make focaccia bread too. No big deal to me. Emma: My room is a mess. A minor inconvenience. Best education you will ever get is... learning from your parents and their mistakes. Compass: No where to be found. I surely thought that he would inspect the new engine part boxes. It is his boat after all. Glad this problem with the port engine overheating is fixed. Check that box off your list. Onboard this boat the Lifestyle is southward. Safe travels crew of Basix.
That new fitting was a work of art. That's why they call it, the industrial arts. All in all, a very artistic episode. The industrial arts and the culinary arts. The bread looked delicious. I'll have a go at it.
somedogy advice to help with the re-install - the bolts on the exhaust manifold ideally should have "never seize " (nickel based) and if you are trying to get hoses on to new fittings - a little bit of dishwashing liquid. this process makes up for the obvious strength differences between Teal and LinH. Good effort all round. the manifolds are notorious bits of junk.
Great job on the engine repair Linh. I just finished baking two sourdough loaves a few hours before watching this episode. I've never heard of focaccia bread, I'll have to give it a try..... looked like a lot of olive oil, LOL. But, you can't question success.
I do not know what I just watched. You guys layout and script (casually) your shots. You have to on a boat. Linh wow..All of it. There is some humor in this episode. Very good team..
We really enjoyed this episode. Glad to see you finally solved to over heating issues. They say exhaust risers and elbows have a 5 year lifespan. Yours were on borrowed time. You all make a great team.
OMG!...I've said it so many times... Linh, is there anything you cant do...What a woman, what a wife and what a mom [and so beautiful inside and out]... And Teal...another excellent repair/ restore...Basik is a masterpiece! And Emma, has the best of you both [and so beautiful, inside and out as well ]... Stay safe my favorite sailing family! [The "reset" is underway...big changes word-wide happening at this very moment]... The USA is getting a complete overhaul, top to bottom and it's all happening right now and it's ALL good!]... "The Abundance of ALL Things Good! Charles [but you all can call me Charlie...LOL] Til Next Time!
Hey Charlie! Lol, there is plenty of things I don't/can't do, but I'm learning more everyday. This crew works best when we pool our strengths together to make things works. Have a great weekend!
the best sailing channel on youtube , the best looking Cat and the Coolest of all the families on the youtube tv and the best cooking channel on youtube tv
I wrote down your recipe' and instructions. Too late in the day to try...but tomorrow... People are overlooking the perfect support you received from Teal in the mechanical endeavor.
Great episode, Teal, great job finding the problem, Linh Great job with the bread, part logistics, and installation. Great Team. I loved how Emma made sure you had everything you needed and sympathetic to it being hot and you are in the engine room! Great Family! Thank you for your videos and sharing with the rest of us!
OMG that bread just about made me pass out ! , if they had a chef contest among all the sailing channels Linh would hands down be crowned forever Queen Chef and i wish she had a cooking channel , i am going to try and make this bread this weekend
Plus if the second old elbow is still serviceable you can keep it as a spare. I don't know Lihn if it's impossible to screw up the dough. In college I met some folks that could mess up boiling water.
Hi guys, it’s so good when you can deal with people that know what they’re talking about I have a can-am Ryker Which is made in America/Canada, and I can get parts for that faster than I can buy it here in Australia. It sounds ridiculous but they can send it within four or five days. I will have it here in Australia anyway. Hope everything goes well for you guys. Keep up the good work really love and appreciate you all, Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺🧑🏾🦽
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you for taking us along on. Not to sure which I enjoyed more. The cooking or the mechanical...LOL! Good morning from Lodi, California.
If you haven’t cleaned your heat exchanger lately it also might be a good idea , just use some calcium and lime dissolving solution . It will save issues in the future , should clean it every 2nd year, it’s not hard to do . Regards John
Wow my wife always helps me with projects like these, but not like you actually doing the work! You are amazing ! Glad to see you got the parts and got two good engines now. Aloha from Hawaii!
OK..am I the only one that thinks Linh need her own separate channel just for cooking, and meal prep on passage?....every time she cooks something, I gain 10 lbs watching......Teal is a lucky guy, and, now I know why he stays so busy...to work off that awesome food.
Omg Linh! The engine repair, you go lady! Then the bread? Wow!!! I would absolubutely love to crew with all of you. Disclosure!!! I dont cook much and I do not repair. I love keeping company. My time for such has come to the end but i love watching! XOXO to my favs! Margie
What ??? The ladies modeling the bathing suits and no Speedo for Teal ??? lol Shout out to Linh.....Great job installing the engine part! Even I had my fingers crossed when she started the engines. lol Homemade bread, Teal and Emma. You are lucky to have such a talented 1st Mate. (Wife and Mom). See You All next time.
Smart of you to order twice the parts. The starboard engine may develop the same issue as the port one. Emma has grown a lot lately, it seems. She is getting to almost your height, Teal. And your lovely wife/mechanic, Linh is a very good crew member. She fits in smaller spaces than you and is ready to tackle any problems head on.
So now that Linh fixed the engine issues, when do we see the dinner Teal made? I'm sure that's a load off your minds to have two cool running engines! Teal - good luck with the "let's do that every time". Donate for a Dream
Have you guys looked into OC Tenders? There is no air to go flat. The Wynns are getting one for their new boat and LaVagabond also just got one. Swamping them is almost impossible, and they last a lot longer. They are out of NZ and built really well.
