Some places believe if you stopped to help someone, somehow as a karma or cosmic event or something you are part at fault. Because no one would stop to help a stranger unless they are guilty
The plastic is not a skid plate, a skid plate is made of metal. That was a splash shield that stops road debris, water, and mud from getting in the engine bay.

It takes somebody to know what the hell they're talking about, to squelch all these others, that just THINK, they know what they're talking about. Because a skid plate , is EXACTLY what it is , and yes sir again, they are indeed made of thick plastic... unlike other comments on here, it WASN'T something she " picked up " on the road while driving.. and it's also, not something that's " not suppose to be there " , as some have stated. If it's better put on by the manufacturer, then I'm pretty sure it's meant to be there lol. But here's one thing I will mention about the skid plate , that maybe alot of people don't know. Idk ur age ofc , so I may be saying something to you, that you already know. But with me being in my late 60's , they were like this for years. Like what , you wonder ?? Well, METAL..Years ago and most of my lifetime they have and were indeed, metal. They used to be made of steel..idk when the " changeover " took place tbh , as I don't and have or had no reason to pay attention, to such things. Idk the reasons either...fuel economy..practical purposes, and capability of upgraded plastic...etc,..etc,.. but my original point here is that at one time, they were , absolutely made of steel. Albeit, that was many years ago.. but I do want to thank you again, for setting the record straight, in explaining to everyone else that exactly that is ( was ). Dude one time it was like 12 at night and my shes this girl around 19 checking her car and stuff so he pulls over and and says "hey you need any help" the girl responds " oh no i just hit a deer" dad-"oh you sure i can help if needed" girl-"no besides if i need help i can get my bf hes in the car" my dad proceeds to look in the car "huh weird i dont see him" girl-"oh its fine hes just asleep i'll wake him up if needed" dad "okay" pull up a little on the side of the road gets out of his truck and drags the deer a little while later he said- "dang i was probably really fckin creppy back there" i can only imagine that girls fear😭

Its a plastic skid plate, keeps water from splashing up aiding in corrosion. Others probably didnt want to go help and get jumped by her accomplices in hiding. Ps. BS my 18yr old daughters did this, she called me, I told her what to do. I provided her with a small 1/4 socket set to keep in her car. Took her 5 min utes it is sitting in her trunk until she gets home when I will re attach. Grownnwiman crying luke a 10 year old with a flat bike tire.😅

Shes not stuck, shes just crying with having to fix the problem. Dudes always pull over to help girls because we all know that 90 percent of the time they dont know what to do in a mechanical situation, so we pull over since it might be something easy and we feel better about ourselves doing a good deed. At least she didnt say "i dont need no man im an independent woman"
This just goes to show how hesitant people are to approach women with the risk of being blatantly be disrespected at the very least. Js. There's a reason no one pulled over. Luckily there was one person who genuinely wanted to help.
