I really feel like Evie didn't belong with Doug. She always wanted to be a princess and in saying that, her dream man would have been Ben. I think the only reason that they weren't together was because mal was the "main girl" or else Evie and Ben could have happened. I personally think that Mal should have been with Harry. The tension between them was INSANE!
Seriously. I watched Descendants 1, 2, and 3 with my older sister, and the whole time she was saying “evie should have ended up with Ben, and besides, she would be a waaaayyyy better queen. She’s way wiser and actually wants what’s best for the kingdom” and i agree, plus Harry and Mal, I seriously thought they would get together at first lol
I’m so glad these comments are expressing the same thought that I had. I never picked up a romantic vibe at all between the two. When Ben was welcoming the villain kids to the school, Evie shook his hand all dreamy eyed with her foot popped up, and he didn’t even acknowledge it. And she only did that in the first place because she started off the movie thinking she had to find a price to marry, and he was the first prince she saw. Now, Ben and Mal literally had tension from the moment they met. Plus, Evie is like the most loyal character in the series. Should would never do that to Mal or to Doug.
No I would say their relationship is more brother and sister. Since mal and ben was boyfriend and girlfriend in the movie they did get really close. Beside I don't think Evie would do that to Mal

They’re more of a brother and sister duo, she was teaching him the ropes on how to be a villain. And I doubt she would ever betray Mal, that’s not like her.

Except for the fact that Rowling herself admitted that pairing Hermione with Ron was a narrative misstep she regrets and that she should have paired her up with Harry.
I see Evie as an Advisor to Mal and Ben. For Ex on the Isle Evie is the first to tell ben how to act on the isle and Also the one to help Mal with her makeup on there first date. She's also given advice to Mal through out the series when she needs it just my opinion plus she would never do that to hurt Mal anyway
Ben and Evie are more brother-sister than lovers. Mal is his true love and her best friend. If anything happened romantic between them, I'm sure Mal would either destroy herself form the inside or destroy all of Auradon and the island.

I think this more of a: the actor who played Ben had better on screen chemistry with Sophie than he did with Dove problem. Rather than the characters actually having any sort of tension between them.
