Yan yu, definitely a YG vibe,.!! The Swag, coolness, the vocals, and she got the right moves, the visual split image of jisoo/irene deym and the attitude,.!!! Overall swag yg vibe!!! 💓
the girl wearing the pink shirt she got the traditional Chinese opera lines. this song is mixing Chinese opera with pop music which is a quite unique style. a lot of Chinese artists are producing these kind of music genre and we call it 中国风(don’t really know how to translate it into English haha maybe Chinese Style I guess)
@@natnut2008 YAS!! YAN YU AND HER ARE ONCE AGAINST WITH EACH OTHER ON AUDITION BUT HERE THEIR COMBINATION IS SO POWERFUL!!! POWERFUL VOCAL DUO!! I WAS HOPING THAT ROADA CAN BE PART OF THE9, BUT SADLY, SHE DOESN'T REACH THE CUT!! (sorry for my expressive comment, its just, the9 needs a powerful vocal duo like yan yu and roada to sing songs like ambush in all sides.)
In that show her name is Yu Yan and no "Yan Yu" because in china surname has to be in the first place and then the name. Probably Iqiyi changed for foreigns.
*_Yan Yu is my first pick always, it's so crazy how talented she is. I voted for her throughout the whole show and I'm so happy I did. Oh, and her name is pronounced "Yu Yen" her last name first, then the "Yan" that it's pronounced as Yen._*
As a Chinese, I would like to say that yan yu can sing, dance and rap. He is an all-round ace who should be in the first place. Now the number one trainee singing and dancing ability is not good, simply ridiculous
It’s not that she suits the group or not (well she’s too powerful indeed), but this is a chance for her to debut, she has been waiting for this chance for a really a long time. She needs, and deserves, to debut, to be in the top.
I like the performance of Team B much more, because the whole performance is well balance, not just all vocals there are right amount of dance, rap, sexy, attitude and swag. Kay Song give this new strong aura, Roada hit those beautiful high notes, the dance move and amazing performance of jenny, the cutiee/allure of Joey and Esp. Yu Yan, have this overall powerful and unique high vocal, Also got the moves, strong cool aura, and she can also spit some bars, deym! She already has 3 straight A, for me she deserve to be in Top 9,
Yeah but i still dont find the dance that powerful and the comcept of the songs clearly says girl power and swag badass and powerful.you see its ur opinion but i still prefer team A because:first of all nobody would expect such an entry the flip was amazing.the entry for team b was also good but not that impressive the kick was really good but team A did something that nobody would expect and the vocals were not too bad also.the high part was powerful and i think it was more impressive than team B.i hove only one word:POWERFUL
Im sure if it would have been an open voting team A would have won.i think they did better than team b.but we already know that the youth producers will vote for their favourite and the fact that in team B there were all the popular girls..im not surprised.im not the only one who thinks like that i already saw many vids and each youtuber shared the same opinion as me so dont come at me:)
Anshita Bacorisen actually team A had 2 members in the top 9 of voting, and team B didn’t have any...... But team B performance got viral on Chinese social media so hopefully they get more popularity
Both team performed good but I like Team A. After watching both performance, Team A performance still keep in my mind and make me feel they were more as a team performance compare to Team B. Zhao Xiao Tang really suit in this song 👍👍 But personally, I like Yu Yan!! Her performance really good ❤❤ so hard for this battle...
Yan Yu , yes she have YG vibe she also compose the song , play guitar, good drawing ,also sing rap or dance she Have A class triple time and now she got 4th ranking that made my day.She also cooking a big meal for her family in this clip tell 1 day her activity
My comment is too long so I just paste it If I watch a MV, I prefer Group A. But if I rank the performance, B wins. Group A: slower beat and slower movements.... If you watch it again you will find that the camera always focuses on two of them or just show the upper part of the body when they are doing powerful movements so you won’t get a whole picture of how the team dances (except the dance break). You seldom see how Yu Zhang (the girl in white and Jue Chen( the Chinese Girl) dance in the part other than dance break. The editing helps A to cover the shortage of their dance. On the other hand, I think their concept is more traditional, more of Chinese ancient characteristics, and it suits the song very well. So the stage looks more enjoyable and more impressive when they show their strengths and cover the shortage. Group B: the beat is faster and the clothes are weird. I think it is because their concept is more of modern style. But they are not combined very well so the final presence is not that enjoyable. However, they do have more powerful movements and you can see how the whole team dances rather than just look at those who dance well. So that’s why the audience don’t recognize the gap between two groups in dancing part. According the audience at presence, the dancing of Group B is more powerful and is more like a team. Also, Group B has stronger rap and their vocal is very stable in live show(according to the audience) while Group A did not sing that well in the opera part. So in terms of the performance, I think Group B did a better job.
This song actually tells a story that really happened. Xiang Yu (232-202 BC) was a prominent warlord in the late Qin dynasty(221 - 206 BC). He was a typical aristocrat in his time. He was from a noble family and barve, generous, decent-looking and excellent at martial art. All of these made him the leader of all warlords in China. In 202 BC, Xiang Yu was besieged at a place called Gaixai by his old enemy Liu Bang, the king of Han. Xiang Yu was in a desperate situation, with little food and only a few soldiers. At night, the surrounding Han troops started to sing his hometown, Chu, folk songs. Xiang Yu was very surprised at this, and said to his consort Yu, "Has Liu Bang occupied the whole of Chu? How can he have drafted so many Chu people into his army?" Xiang Yu totally lost his will of fighting and decided to flee together with the remainder of his forces, but he worried about his consort Yu, so he drank a lot and sang a song: 力拔山兮气盖世。 My strength plucked up the hills, My might shadowed the world; 时不利兮骓不逝。 But the times were against me, And Dapple[10] runs no more; 骓不逝兮可奈何! When Zhui (Xiang Yu's beloved war horse) runs no more, What then can I do? 虞兮虞兮奈若何! Ah, Yu, my Yu, What will your fate be? prevent Xiang Yu from being distracted by his love for her, consort Yu committed suicide with Xiang Yu's sword after performing a sword dance for her husband for the last time. She was buried at Gaixia. The next morning, Xiang Yu led about 800 of his remaining elite cavalry on a desperate attempt to break out of the encirclement, with 5000 enemy troops hot on the pursuit when he retreated to Wu River, Xiang Yu lost all his men. The ferryman at the ford prepared a boat for him to cross the river, strongly encouraging him to do so because Xiang Yu still had the support of the people from his homeland in the south. Xiang said that he was too ashamed to return home and face his people because none of the first 8,000 young men from his homeland who followed him on his conquests managed to survive. He refused to cross and ordered his remaining men to dismount, asking the ferryman to take his warhorse back home. Xiang Yu then dashed back to Han troops. After killing dozens of enemies, he suffered grave wounds. Before being captured, he committed suicide by slitting his throat with his sword.
The girl in the all pink shirt decided to go with a traditional Chinese singing style. Those lines were meant to be more sing-song like. 😊 hearing her wavy vocals brought me back to my grandpas mandarin radio station ahaha
It is very interesting to see how more international fans from RU-vid prefer Team A, whereas fans in China like Team B much more. I think it's probably because Team A integrates more "traditional Chinese elements" which seems unique and impressive for international fans, however for Chinese fans, Team A actually didn't have that much uniqueness. They have much higher expectations for the Chinese Style in their mind, and because of this, Chinese fans focus more on performers' actual ability of RAP, DANCE and VOCAL instead of traditional elements.
And also international fans just like Handong from Dreamcatcher and international fans obsess over any girl that does not conform to the “normal standard” of a girl group so they like team A when Team B obviously did better
Actually, Han Dong is famous with international fans. And Zhao Xiaotang has a lot of fans lol. As a Vietnamese who is a fan of Cbiz for years, I think team B is much more better. Focus fancam of Yu Yan has many views, now it is no.1 or no.2 (sorry i don't remember), it tells Chinese fans are more like her performance. Team A is lack of skill, especially rap skill.
Everyone is Team A had a unique appeal to them but Team B only excelled because of Yan Yu and Jenny who dominated the stage most of the time. Team B did awesome but Team A hands down had better stage presence overall. Team B were really good but only Yan Yu and Jenny stood out. And chinese fans focus on looks lets be real lmao cos Joey Chua messed up soooo many times yet she got a higher score than Handong who slayed her vocals and dance all throughout the performance. Rigged as hell and unfair.
Hope they could actually understand chinese to appreciate how good Team B's vocal is compared to Team A. Its so unfair that they feel that "unique appeal" of Team A is actually due to their lacking in dance moves and the cam have to focus each of them to avoid people seeing that their dance overall is bad. Just the first sentence itself Team B won. I could not even understand why the international fans supported team A so much when Team B, with a clear cut, definitely better in all aspects. So weird.
The name of this song comes from a battle in ancient China. The exact translation is ambush from ten sides. In addition to some unique Chinese instruments such as pipa, there are also some singing tunes of Peking Opera.
actually the lyrics is based on a traditional and ancient Chinese poem/ lyrics, the story is about an ancient king who failed to conquer his enemy and had to leave his lover and face death. Like it's the lyrics from over 2000 years ago, that's why you could find a particular Chinese Opera style when Xu, the vocal girl in pink top comes in.
nice job recognizing the double layer with a foreign langauge! haha I may totally miss that minutia. what you referred to as traditional part resembles the Beijing Opera Huadan. Roada Xu, the vocalist who did the traditional part, actually passed auditioned for JYP, SM and Cube but didn't become a trainee because of schoolwork.
You should react to the team A as well. They're giving you more goosebumps and also Han Dong from team a is actually a member of the kpop group 'dreamcatcher'.
Yes some of the sounds you mentioned are from peking opera. This song is about a two thousand years old Chinese telling. It's about Xiangyu and his wife Yuji.
Sorry i have to say this but Joey's making a lot of mistakes in the choreo , not really expressive , lack of vibe of the song , too stiff , kinda always behind everyone in this concept . That's just my opinion on the group's little mistake ( if you keep focus on her , you see what i mean )
Everyone has their own opinions but at least you need to know that she has literally zero foundation in dancing nor singing and she actually got to keep up with other members is good actually when they need to practice to this song in 3 days and this is a hard song to perform even Jenny said it. So she did an excellent work. Yes she might be the weakest in the group but with her hard work she might catch up with other trainees. In weibo, they actually praised her attitude and expressiveness on stage although its not the best.
Yeah... cause she is the weakest among all the members there and currently her grade is lowest (D Class), the rest are mostly from Class A or B. Their mentor has mentioned that this song is very hard especially the choreography but she still stood up when the mentor asked who wants this song, and other trainees were kinda surprised that she wanted to challenge this. Her performance wasn't as good as her teammates, but I think she actually did well as a Class D trainee. Is good that she jumped out from her comfort zone and willing to try new thing, she improved a lot tho.
yeah but she was the one that slept the least. i forgot who said,i think it was yu yan or jenny. she worked so hard but still not that good compared to others. joey chua didn’t have a choice but to get into the team, yeah i knew that she wanted to perform the song too but i think she can to better if she’s in want to see you team..sorry for my english
The song is derived from the Pipa (a traditional Chinese instrument that's kinda like the guitar) classic 'Ambush on all sides' (十面麦麸, shi2 mian4 mai2 fu) that's why it's 'Ambush on all sides 2' XD. That classic is based on the tale of and poem written by a general at the turn of the Qin dynasty (~206BC?). The story describes this great general who dedicated his life to fighting battles and was victorious many times, but ultimately he lost the war and knew that the dynasty was going to end. He just had to cross a river to get back home but he couldn't because of the shame he feels for losing the war. So he committed suicide. The title of the poem he wrote is the first line of this song :) And there was another incident referenced about how attacking soldiers attacking have surrounded a village from all sides and that village has no defenses. The villagers in their despair started singing their hometown folk song to appeal to the sympathies of the soldiers who were also conscripted from the same/similar area which was taken over by the other lord. So the soldiers heard the folk song from their hometown, they lost all motivation to attack and started singing along because they were fatigued and homesick after having been campaigning for years. Feudal society is messy. This story which has become the idiom 四面楚歌 (si4 mian4 chu3 ge1) meaning 'surrounded on 4 sides, using song to disarm the enemy' which is referenced in this song. This song also referenced several other events like the attempted assassination of the Qin Emperor. I'm actually not very well versed in Chinese history and literature tbh, was never educated in china. This is just some tid bits from stories passed down from my parents :) Anyone who knows more, please help clarify ~ would help me appreciate the song more too
Just bcoz she do somersault? Her vocal is not power enough compare to Yan Yu. I think Team B overall package is good. But Team A lack of stage presence.
Amin army yeah I understand why you think so...maybe it is because of the editing ... actually 90% of the report from the audience who saw their stages and voted tell us that group B are stronger at dancing part and they are more like a team...actually I am a fan of Yan Yu but I also prefer the final presence of group A but in terms of the performers only, I think B’girls are better.
@@huiechin9120 Dude Team A had soooooo much powerful stage presence, watch their performance on youtube were the editing is actually decent compared to the episode. Their charisma and everything was outstanding and everybody actually stood out whereas in this team only an Yu and Jenny dominated the stage. No doubt they were amazing but Team A had amazing teamwork, chemistry, fit the concept better and were all super unique. But everyone has their own opinions so
Yep ... I have to except that, after I applied for seeing the full show, Yan yu is not just naive contestant (with great talent) like I thought when I saw the short clip before this. Slow water run deep !!! She's quite a game maker full of strategy and she also have many faces (that's why I was fooled when I saw just a short first audition clip). She's also one of my most favorite. (But I really fall for Flora Dia, my heart beat like crazy everytime I saw her >
Team B did better in my opinion, Yan Yu's opening hit me more than Xiaotang's, and team B were really great as a team, where team A trainees were skilled individually. When you put team B together, they're a great whole and team A are skilled individuals who pair up well.
FYI the pronunciation of "Yan" ends with N (literally how you pronounce the letter "N" /æn/). It's not pronounced the same as "Yang" which has "ang" as /a:ŋ/.
She in other survival show "Girls fighting" (2016) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ErhNrOq8YQw.html . Blackpink at that time already debuted, who knows there was a show before, she would have been taken into the group, because it would add Chinese fans, but in any case Seungri had to take her to the company.
In my opinion the team A killed it more ... Like more unified and unique. Team B make me focus only 3 member. Jenny with the dance, yu yan with the swag and the pink with the voice. But team A has a great voice overall with great dance overall. Hehe may be you can as well react to team A please. I want to know your opinion about them
Actually the other team has advantages, too. The center's dance is really good. Anyway, this group is better overall. BTW, the idea of this song, combine Chinese opera with hip-hop, is not iqiyi's. It's a cover version.
after u said yu yan has yg vibes i finally know y i like her so much by the way in Chinese her name is start with yu follow by yan mostly of your pronunciation for her name is correct
I actually think the girl in the pink top, Roada Xu, was the vocal backbone of this performance. It's difficult to sing the high operatic notes and then immediately sing the low notes after Kay Song's rap as vocal support. That she did so seamlessly and so stably is a testament to her vocal ability.
This song combines many traditional Chinese musical instruments with pop music. We have a singing method called opera tune in China, which is drawn from Beijing opera. If you want to know more, you can listen to it. The more you listen to it, the better it will be. Chinese traditional songs are story based and have historical rhymes. This song is also written in classical Chinese, which is the language used in ancient China, so some translations in English are not allowed
THEY ADDED CHINESE OPERA SINGING STYLE. The intro is similar to how Chinese opera is sung. Vocal part is too. This is group battle not vocal, or rap, or dance part
