wow when u listen to that voice of hers... u couldnt imagine theres such a sweet hummingbird behind that beautiful voice. ´love her since i saw her the first time...
@dbuffalo Just read on the back of volume one out of 12 tracks all of them apart from numbers 8 and 11 are covers and number 12 was co written by her. M Ward produced it. Zooey Deschanel played 4 different instruments and vocals. M. Ward also played 4 different instruments and on a few songs with vocals. Get your facts right, she is a lot more 'talented' than you think. but M. ward is equally brilliant, if not for him we wouldn't have this great band.
Alot of times in relationships, the woman's emotions are much like Zooey's voice whereas the men's emotions (or lack of) can be voiced by M. Ward's. Women are emotional beings and Zooey's ability to vocalize that in song is stunning. Maybe that's why the song was sung this way by She & Him?
Not terrible. Pretty good. Doesn't beat the original, by any stretch. But I like that this is a good sign that they're Neil fans. More awesome points for them in my book! =)
Really pretty song...They made the song sound different yet so beautiful on its own. Seriously though, where do people get copies of She and Him's new singles?
@dbuffalo Thats not an accusation that they are covering songs. Its a fact. I dont care about that. It just bums me out that some people dont even listen to M Ward and give Zooey all the credit. Zooey's got talent dont get me wrong, but M Ward's a legend.
@joerover22 His popularity with musicians I've never heard of says nothing of his TALENT. Was it not for her rising success as an actress, the mainstream would never have even found their group, or him.
I was not saying that is the way love is all the time. As you will notice, I said alot of times, meaning primarily. I know men have emotions and I'm glad they do.
The "great majority" of the songs they've done are originals written by Zooey. Thirteen tracks on each album, three covers on the first, two covers on the second. You should know what you re talking about before you comment.
they're both great. I dont care anymore. a great majority are covers. I shouldnt of empiricized my statement like that but Im just trying to tell people who have no clue who M Ward is how important he is to this collaboration as a whole.
@joerover22 - o really? cause for me it was the other way around. if it hadn't been for Zooey I wouldn't have found M. Ward any time soon. and I'm fairly sure I'm not alone on this. glad that (500) Days of Summer led me to finding these two awesome artists.
@eljagg01 ha, never my intention to degrade you. I agree with the fact that you have your own preferences, i must just be a kid with a knack/love for shitty sounds. Just don't underestimate the man's ability to have completely helped up the entire creation of the album, seeing as to how he practically half way helped it - much like Mogis is to Oberst (that's right i used last names). Without that man singing zoey probably would have never started up this project.
Didn't Nicolette Larson do a cover of this as well? If not her... some other female? I recall this song, but I remember a woman singing it.. not Neil Young...
@dbuffalo You're just slightly off on your so called facts there, Zooey Deschanel wrote most of the songs on the albums, very few of them are covers. Don't make foolish accusations untill you know your facts, or you'll just embarrass yourself.
really? M. Ward is very talented, if it wasn't for him, zooey wouldn't even be in the picture. he's been featured on cd's with jim james, bright eyes, neva dinova....and zooey isn't even that great of a singer, but shes cute so she can do what she wants.
@MsBedwell @MsBedwell very few?1/3 of volume 1......and a lot of these songs are adapted from others... hahah Im not gunna argue about this I got carried away and I shouldnt of said a majority, because, hey thats not a majority. Im pretty embarassed everyone on youtube saw this.
M Ward's talent greatly surpasses Zooey's...or most musicians as a matter of fact..I found M Ward before she and him. and Bright Eyes and My Morning Jacket(Jim James) are bigger than M Ward and She and Him. It kinda makes me a little angry when people get it confused with who the real MUSICIAN and SONGWRITER is...These are all cover's that She and Him does....dont get me wrong Zooey is wonderful but dont be ignorant to the facts. and they are still far from mainstream.......
well if you're at all musically inclined who would you call more talented as a musician? M Ward. Zooey doesnt write her own music. She's got a talent, but she's not a musician in its full sense. Are you getting what I'm trying to say? Its not that I prefer one over the other. In fact I would probbably rather hear Zooey sing covers all day. but that doesnt mean she's a musical artist/singer/songwriter/ insert title here.
Your criticism about Ward's name is funny in light of the name that you've chosen for everyone else in the world to view you as - TheZOOROMANCER ... The other funny thing is that you would have never heard Zooey's voice or songs or musical talent unless she had done movies first. Either way, she's making a lot money with her "totally talentless" acting ... sucks to be her :)
